The official page also lists a screw-down crown and a stainless-steel bracelet, reference M605018324, with a folding clasp, safety lock, diver extension and double push-buttons. Mido calls the movement Calibre 80 and specifies a reserve of up to 80 hours; launch coverage identifies its base as ETA C07.661. The latter is a launch-era technical detail, not a replacement for Mido’s current product-page specifications.

How the GMT works
The useful distinction is that Fratello reviewer Lex Stolk describes this as a traveler, or “flyer,” GMT: the local 12-hour hand can be adjusted independently when changing time zones, while the other timekeeping indications continue. That makes it more convenient for resetting local time during travel than a caller-style GMT, whose independently adjusted hand is typically used to track another time zone while staying put.
Mido says the additional hand completes one revolution every 24 hours and works with the bezel’s 24-hour graduation to indicate a second time zone. In Mido’s words, “The GMT function makes it possible to display two time zones simultaneously.”

Launch coverage describes the bezel as unidirectional with a ceramic insert and the case back as engraved with world-time-zone indications. Those details add context to the current product-page specifications, which list the GMT function but do not itemize every bezel or case-back feature.
How large does it wear?
The 44 mm diameter, 13.4 mm thickness and 209 g listed weight make this a substantial sports watch on paper. Fratello’s Stolk said he found it too large and heavy on his 18.5 cm wrist. A separate September 2026 Hodinkee Australia & New Zealand hands-on concerned the black-dial M026.629.17.051.01, not this blue-and-red reference; its writer likewise called 44 mm imposing on smaller wrists but manageable on a 19 cm wrist. These are individual experiences with watches in the same-size collection, not a universal fit rule.

If possible, try the watch on rather than judging by diameter alone. The bracelet, total weight and how the case sits on your wrist all matter. Stolk praised the build, finishing, detailing and functional package, but his positive assessment does not cancel out his fit concern.
What comes with the special edition?
Mido’s US page lists the steel bracelet and labels the watch a special edition with one extra strap. Monochrome’s 2022 launch coverage describes that extra as a blue, red and white fabric NATO-style strap with leather reinforcement patches, and reports quick-release spring bars for changing straps. Contents and hardware can vary by market or seller listing, so verify what is actually included with the specific watch you are considering.

The listed lug width is 22 mm, which helps when searching for replacement straps, but width alone does not guarantee fit. Check the end links, spring bars and mounting arrangement before ordering an accessory.

At the time reflected on Mido’s product page, the US listing showed $1,650 and out-of-stock status with a get-notified option. The UK page surfaced in the same search showed £1,310 including VAT and was also out of stock. These are market-specific page displays, not a universal street price or a promise that stock remains unavailable; check Mido or an authorized seller for current status and local pricing.

Launch-era prices are historical rather than current quotes: Fratello reported CHF 1,300 for the blue-and-red special edition in December 2022, while Monochrome reported EUR 1,300 in its 2022 launch coverage. Hodinkee’s September 2026 article listed A$2,125 for the different black-dial, fabric-strap M026.629.17.051.01; that figure is not the price of the reference reviewed here.
Who should consider it?
- Consider it if: you want an independently adjustable local hour hand for travel, a 200 m-rated automatic sports watch, and a long stated power reserve.
- Try it carefully if: you prefer compact or lightweight watches. The 44 mm case and listed 209 g weight are central parts of the wearing experience, not minor details.
- Check before purchasing: the exact reference, current regional price and availability, extra-strap contents, and compatibility of any replacement strap.
Hodinkee’s September 2026 collection comparison provides context, not a like-for-like verdict: it describes the Baltic Aquascaphe GMT as a 100 m caller GMT, the Tissot Seastar 1000 GMT as a 300 m quartz option, and the Seiko Prospex SPB381 as a 42 mm, 200 m caller GMT. The same article reports a three-day reserve, ceramic bezel and sapphire for the Seiko. Verify competitors’ current specifications and prices before using those comparisons to decide; the GMT style, fit, movement and configuration may matter as much as the price.
