The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M 38mm is a strong everyday-watch choice if you want compact proportions, serious magnetic resistance and real swimming capability without moving to a large sports case. Its 38mm steel case measures 45.00mm lug to lug and 12.24mm thick; the turquoise integrated-rubber version is 12.36mm thick and approximately 44.92mm lug to lug. All documented versions use Omega’s Co-Axial calibre 8800, carry METAS Master Chronometer certification and resist magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss.
What the Aqua Terra 38mm is
The Aqua Terra 150M 38mm is an automatic watch family positioned between a practical sports watch and a relatively restrained dress watch. The range includes steel-bracelet, leather-strap and integrated-rubber configurations. A screw-in crown, sapphire crystal and 150m (500ft) water resistance give the watch a robust technical foundation, while the 38mm case keeps its footprint moderate.
Case dimensions and wrist fit
| Specification | Steel reference 220.10.38.20.03.001 | Documented turquoise rubber version |
|---|---|---|
| Case diameter | 38mm | 38mm |
| Lug to lug | 45.00mm | Approximately 44.92mm |
| Thickness | 12.24mm | 12.36mm |
| Lug width | 19mm | 19mm practical fit specification |
| Water resistance | 150m (500ft) | 150m (500ft) |
The roughly 45mm lug-to-lug span is more useful than diameter alone when estimating fit. It should suit many wrists that find contemporary 41–42mm sports watches too broad, while the approximately 12.2–12.4mm thickness is substantial enough for a mechanical sports watch but not exceptionally tall. Whether it disappears under a particular cuff depends on the cuff opening and the strap or bracelet selected; the specification does not establish a universal dress-shirt fit.
Movement, accuracy and magnetic resistance
Calibre 8800
The 38mm models use Omega’s Co-Axial calibre 8800 automatic movement. Its stated power reserve is 55 hours, so a watch left off the wrist over a weekend may continue running, although the exact stopping point depends on how fully it was wound and how it was worn.

METAS Master Chronometer certification
Omega identifies the calibre as METAS Master Chronometer certified. The certification covers precision and performance testing under the applicable Master Chronometer standard. Omega’s 2025 press release states that each movement withstands magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss and carries METAS certification for precision and performance.
That rating is far beyond the ordinary magnetic exposure associated with household electronics, but it is not a reason to ignore the manufacturer’s care guidance or to treat the watch as indestructible. If the watch gains or loses time abnormally after a strong magnetic or physical event, have it checked by an authorized service provider.

Is it safe for swimming?
Yes, the documented Aqua Terra 38mm specifications state 150m (500ft) water resistance, and the watch has a screw-in crown. That rating is appropriate for swimming when the case, crown and seals are in good condition and the crown is fully secured. Water resistance is not permanent: seals age, and a shock or service intervention can affect them.
- Confirm the crown is completely screwed in before entering water.
- Do not operate the crown or other controls while the watch is wet or submerged.
- Rinse salt water or chlorine from the watch with fresh water and dry it afterward.
- Have water resistance tested at service intervals or after an impact, opening of the case or other event that could compromise the seals.
Steel, leather or integrated rubber?
The case and movement are shared across the family, but the bracelet or strap changes the watch’s character, comfort and practical use.

Steel bracelet
The steel configuration delivers the conventional integrated Aqua Terra appearance and a more substantial feel on the wrist. It is the most natural choice for an all-purpose watch that must move between office, travel and casual wear. Metal is also less vulnerable than leather to rain and perspiration, although it can feel warmer and heavier than a strap in hot conditions.
Leather strap
Leather shifts the 38mm toward dressier use. It can make the watch sit visually lighter and pair more easily with tailored clothing, but leather is a poor match for swimming and repeated exposure to sweat or water. Choose it when formal versatility matters more than aquatic convenience.

Integrated rubber
Integrated rubber gives the same case a sportier profile and is the most sensible strap material for frequent heat, exercise and water exposure. The documented turquoise model includes a folding clasp. Rubber can be more comfortable in wet conditions, though color, texture and clasp design should be assessed in person because those details strongly affect how sporty or conspicuous the watch looks.
Changing straps
The common 19mm lug width is the key replacement-strap specification. Any alternate strap should be confirmed for exact fit, spring-bar clearance and case compatibility rather than selected by width alone. A 19mm Aqua Terra strap can change the watch’s appearance substantially, but it does not turn a leather setup into a swimming configuration or alter the case’s water-resistance rating.

Dial choice and everyday legibility
Dial color is a major practical difference between references. Darker or higher-contrast combinations generally make the hands and indices easier to read quickly, while brighter or highly saturated colors make the watch more visually distinctive. The turquoise rubber configuration is the expressive option in the documented lineup; buyers who prioritize discreet office wear may prefer a less vivid dial and steel or leather pairing. Exact dial finishing, handset contrast and lume performance vary by reference, so confirm the specific Omega reference rather than assuming every 38mm model reads identically.
Who should buy the 38mm Aqua Terra?
It fits best if you want
- A compact sports-watch footprint with a 45mm-or-shorter lug-to-lug span.
- One watch that can cover office wear, travel and swimming.
- Strong resistance to everyday magnetic fields through a METAS-certified movement.
- Choice among bracelet, dressier leather and sport-oriented rubber configurations.
Consider another size or style if you need
- A very thin watch for tight shirt cuffs; 12.24–12.36mm is moderate, not ultra-slim.
- A larger visual presence than a 38mm case provides.
- A leather setup for regular swimming, which conflicts with leather’s material limitations.
Buying checklist
Searches for “Omega Aqua Terra 38mm watch” can return authorized dealers, marketplaces and pre-owned sellers with different stock and protections. Before paying, verify:
- The complete Omega reference number, not just “Aqua Terra 38mm.”
- That the dial, case material and bracelet or strap match the advertised reference.
- Seller authenticity, including serial-number consistency and legitimate documentation.
- The warranty card and the terms of any regional Omega warranty.
- Return rights, import costs and taxes for your country or market.
- Whether the quoted price is current for your region; official pricing and availability vary by market and were not generalized here.
For replacement options, search by the 19mm specification and confirm compatibility with the exact reference before ordering.
Verdict
The Omega Aqua Terra 38mm is a technically serious everyday watch in a restrained size: 150m water resistance, a 55-hour automatic movement and 15,000-gauss magnetic resistance cover the practical requirements most owners actually face. The main decision is not capability but personality—steel for an all-rounder, leather for a dressier emphasis, or integrated rubber for a sportier and more water-friendly setup.
