There is no universal reset sequence for talking watches. First identify the brand and model—often printed on the case back, packaging or paperwork—and match its buttons and crown to the correct manual. “Reset” might mean changing the spoken time, correcting hands that disagree with the voice, or setting the watch up after a battery change; these are different operations.
How do I reset my talking watch? Use the instructions for its exact model, not a sequence chosen because another watch looks similar. The Lifemax and Time Optics steps below apply only to the models described.
Identify what needs correcting before pressing buttons
Check the model number and the control layout, then decide which symptom you have. Analog talking watches can have different button arrangements, and some are radio-controlled while others are not. A one-button design, a four-button design and a menu-driven atomic watch do not necessarily share settings.
- The spoken time is wrong: look for the manual’s time-setting procedure.
- The spoken time is right but the hands are wrong: look specifically for hand alignment or synchronization.
- The problem began after a battery change: check whether the manual requires reinitialization or a reset.
- The buttons do not match the manual: stop rather than experiment; find the exact model instructions or contact the manufacturer or retailer.

Reset a Lifemax Talking Atomic Watch after a battery change
This procedure is for Lifemax models 407GL, 407GB, 407LL and 407LB only. The manual describes the second hand moving at twice its normal speed after battery replacement and gives this crown-and-S1 sequence.
- Pull the crown out to stop the hands.
- Push the crown back in, then press S1 three times. The second hand should resume normal speed and the voice function should activate.
- When the second hand reaches 12, pull the crown out and adjust the hands so they all point to 12.
- Push and hold S1 for three seconds, then push the crown in. The second hand spins to catch up with the spoken time.
- Hold S1 for three seconds again to start the atomic-signal search. Place the watch by a window while it sets itself; the manual says this can take up to half an hour.
Do not use the crown while the hands are turning quickly. The manual also describes a separate manual Set Time menu for places without an atomic signal; it says the date cannot be set manually on these models. See the Lifemax manual for the model-specific instructions.

Set the spoken time on the Time Optics analog talking watch
On the Time Optics model described in its instructions, S1 is at 2 o’clock and the recessed S2 button is at 4 o’clock. This procedure changes the voice time and synchronizes the hands.
- Press the recessed S2 button once.
- Press S1 to confirm.
- Use S2 to select the hour, then press S1 to confirm it.
- Use S2 to select the minute, then press S1 to confirm it.
- Use S2 to select AM or PM, then press S1 to confirm.
The watch announces the resulting time and synchronizes the hands. The manual warns: “Never use the Crown to set the time! The watch will require a reset if the Crown is moved.” That warning applies to this Time Optics model, not to every talking watch. Follow the Time Optics instructions if the crown has been moved or the watch needs a reset.

Synchronize Time Optics hands when the voice is correct
If the spoken time is right but the hands are not, use the distinct synchronization procedure in the Time Optics manual rather than changing the voice time.
- Wait until the second hand reaches 12, then pull out the crown to stop it.
- Turn the crown until both the hour and minute hands point to 12.
- With the crown still out, hold S1 for more than five seconds.
- Keep holding S1 and push the crown in at the same time.
- Wait while the hands spin to the previously announced time, then press S1 once to check it.
If the voice and hands still do not match, the manual says to repeat the sequence. Refer to the Time Optics manual for the complete model-specific procedure.

Why another talking watch may need different steps
Button positions and functions vary. For example, Hearmore’s instructions for a four-button analog model use S3 to select time-setting mode, S4 to advance the hour and S2 to advance the minute; S3 returns the watch to time mode. The LS&S listing describes a one-button talking watch and links to that product’s own instructions. Braille Superstore’s ladies’ talking-watch directions describe Talk, Minute, Hour and Mode buttons.
These examples show why button count or appearance alone is not enough to choose a reset procedure. Use the instructions for the exact watch: Hearmore instructions, LS&S one-button watch listing and instructions and Braille Superstore directions.

When a setting problem may need service
A watch that behaves abnormally may have a battery or service issue rather than a time-setting error. The Lifemax manual says that, on its named models, a second hand stepping every two seconds together with no talking function indicates a low battery; it recommends returning the watch to Lifemax for battery replacement or service. Do not treat that symptom as a diagnosis for other brands.
Time Optics recommends having a trained jeweler or watch specialist replace its watch’s battery. Avoid opening the case unless the relevant manual supports it and you can preserve the seals and handle small parts safely. If the correct model-specific procedure does not restore operation, contact the manufacturer or a qualified watch specialist.
