For a Samsung Gear Fit2 (SM-R360) or Gear Fit2 Pro (SM-R365), open Apps → Settings → Gear info → Reset Gear → Factory reset, then confirm with the check icon. This erases data stored on the band. If you have the original Gear Fit, Galaxy Fit, or Galaxy Fit2, identify the model first—their reset instructions are different.

Identify your exact band first

“Samsung Gear Fit” is often used as a catch-all name, but Samsung has released several bands with different menus and reset methods. Check the model number on the back of the band, its packaging, or the relevant Samsung support page before following instructions.

Band Model identifier Reset method
Gear Fit, first generation SM-R350 Use the model-specific manual or Samsung support page; do not assume Gear Fit2 steps apply.
Gear Fit2 SM-R360 Reset directly on the band through Settings → Gear info → Reset Gear.
Gear Fit2 Pro SM-R365 Reset directly on the band through Settings → Gear info → Reset Gear.
Galaxy Fit Varies by region and model Use Galaxy Wearable → About band → Reset band → Reset.
Galaxy Fit2 Varies by region and model Use the band’s quick settings and reset icon.

Samsung’s model pages identify the original Gear Fit as SM-R350, the Gear Fit2 as SM-R360, and the Gear Fit2 Pro as SM-R365.

Restart, forced restart, and factory reset are different

  • Restart: Reboots the band without intentionally deleting personal data. Try it for a temporary slowdown or glitch.
  • Forced restart: Restarts an unresponsive band when the usual controls are unavailable. On Gear Fit2 Pro, Samsung documents holding the Power key for at least seven seconds. This does not erase the band.
  • Factory reset: Returns the band to its default setup state and erases data stored in its memory. Use it for persistent software problems or before handing the device to someone else.

Samsung’s Gear Fit2 Pro instructions distinguish the forced restart from the separate factory-reset procedure.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Before you reset

  • Charge the band. Keep it powered during the reset and avoid pressing buttons repeatedly while it is working.
  • Sync anything important. A factory reset erases data stored on the band. Samsung’s current backup and restore guidance says that the standard backup-and-restore feature is unavailable for Gear Fit2 and Gear Fit2 Pro. Previously synchronized records may remain in the associated health account, but do not assume every record can be recovered.
  • Consider the phone connection. If the band still works and you are preparing it for a new phone or owner, remove its old Bluetooth pairing and wearable-app entry after syncing. Unpairing removes the phone’s connection record; it does not erase band data. If the band is already malfunctioning or disconnected, you can skip unpairing and reset it directly when possible.

Reset a Samsung Gear Fit2 (SM-R360)

  1. Wake the band and press the Power/Home key to open the Apps screen.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Gear info.
  4. Tap Reset Gear.
  5. Tap Factory reset.
  6. Confirm with the check icon.
  7. Leave the band powered and undisturbed while it resets and restarts. Pair it again with the phone when setup appears.

This is the path in Samsung’s Gear Fit2 reset instructions. Samsung last updated that page on November 23, 2020; menu wording may differ slightly by firmware or region.

Reset a Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro (SM-R365)

  1. Press the Power key to open the Apps screen.
  2. Tap Settings, then Gear info.
  3. Tap Reset Gear.
  4. If the band shows a separate Factory reset option, tap it.
  5. Confirm using the check icon and wait for the band to restart.
  6. Pair it with the phone again after the reset.

Samsung’s regional instructions use Gear info; its US troubleshooting content may refer to the same area as About Gear. If one label is absent, check for the other rather than using a different model’s menu path. See Samsung’s Gear Fit2 Pro instructions and reset troubleshooting guidance.

What about the original Gear Fit, Galaxy Fit, and Galaxy Fit2?

Original Gear Fit (SM-R350)

Samsung’s current SM-R350 support page provides model-specific support materials, but the available English guidance does not establish a complete reset sequence here. Use its manual or support resources; do not try the Gear Fit2 steps by assumption.

Galaxy Fit

Samsung’s current US reset guide gives this app path: Galaxy Wearable → About band → Reset band → Reset. The original Galaxy Fit normally cannot be reset from the band itself; Samsung advises using Galaxy Wearable or connecting it to another phone. See the Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit2 reset guide and Samsung troubleshooting guidance.

Galaxy Fit2

On the band, press the Home key, open Quick settings, tap More options, choose the reset icon, and confirm with the checkmark. These instructions are for Galaxy Fit2, not the older Gear Fit2.

If the band is frozen or will not respond

  1. Place it on its original or a compatible charging dock and allow it to charge.
  2. If the screen responds, try a normal restart.
  3. For a frozen Gear Fit2 Pro, hold the Power key for at least seven seconds to force a restart.
  4. Once the band responds, use the model’s factory-reset path above if a data-erasing reset is still needed.
  5. If it will not charge, remains frozen, or repeatedly reboots, the cause may be the battery, charging setup, display, or another hardware fault. A reset cannot be assumed to fix a hardware problem.

Samsung’s unresponsive wearable troubleshooting can help with further checks. The seven-second Power-key hold is Samsung’s documented Gear Fit2 Pro forced restart, not a factory reset.

Reconnect the band after resetting

  1. Open Samsung’s wearable-management app on the phone. The exact app name and compatibility depend on the band, phone, operating system, and region.
  2. If the old band entry remains, remove it from the app and the phone’s Bluetooth device list.
  3. Turn Bluetooth off and back on if the band does not appear.
  4. Start pairing in the app and select the correct band model.
  5. Accept pairing prompts on both the band and phone.
  6. Install any device software the app offers, then check the band’s date, time, notifications, activity settings, and account connection.
  7. Confirm the band is working before returning it to normal use or transferring it to someone else.

Samsung says a reset requires reconnecting the wearable to Galaxy Wearable, but compatibility for these older devices is not universal across every current phone and operating-system version. See its connection and reset troubleshooting.

Reset before selling, giving away, or servicing the band

  • Sync any data you still need and understand that unsynchronized band data may be lost.
  • Factory-reset the band using the instructions for its exact model.
  • Remove the band from the current phone’s Bluetooth list and wearable app.
  • Remove or deregister it from any Samsung account or device list where applicable.
  • Do not share the previous owner’s account credentials with a buyer.
  • If selling it, include the correct charging dock.

Samsung’s service-preparation guide also advises backing up personal data and resetting a Gear Fit before service.

If you cannot find the reset option

  • Recheck the model number. You may have an original Gear Fit, Galaxy Fit, or Galaxy Fit2 rather than a Gear Fit2 or Gear Fit2 Pro.
  • Check for an alternate label. Samsung support materials use Gear info and About Gear for the Gear Fit2 family; Galaxy Fit uses About band.
  • Consider whether the band is responsive enough to navigate. If not, charge it and use the documented forced-restart step for Gear Fit2 Pro before trying its reset menu.
  • Account for regional or firmware differences. Menu labels can vary; do not substitute a Galaxy Watch reset path.
  • Escalate persistent failures. A missing option, repeated reboot, or failure to charge may indicate a different model or a hardware fault.
