What is the Hz Watches HZ.02 Chronograph?
The HZ.02 is an Australian microbrand’s vintage-sports-inspired chronograph. Hz Watches, founded in 2023, says its aim is to make high-quality, affordable watches that celebrate quartz innovation. Its catalog also includes the HZ.01 Everyday and HZ.03 Blue Marble. Hz Watches’ official catalog
The clearest distinction is its combination of a small-for-a-chronograph titanium case and a Seiko VK63 meca-quartz movement. Time+Tide’s 2024 feature describes the watch as pairing a classic vintage feel with modern materials and durability. That article was made in partnership with Hz Watches, and its author states that the opinions are their own.
What are the HZ.02 Chronograph’s dimensions and materials?
Time+Tide reports a 37mm case diameter, 43mm lug-to-lug length and 12.5mm total thickness. The case is Grade 5 titanium, with sapphire crystals at the front and exhibition caseback. How do the movement, chronograph and bezel work?
Seiko VK63 meca-quartz movement
The HZ.02 uses a Seiko VK63 meca-quartz movement: quartz regulates ordinary timekeeping, while a mechanical module operates the chronograph. Time+Tide notes that the chronograph seconds hand sweeps rather than advancing in the usual one-second quartz steps. The dial also has a 24-hour indicator; it is not an elapsed-hours counter for the chronograph.
Unidirectional 12-hour bezel
Instead of a tachymeter scale, the watch has a unidirectional 12-hour bezel that can be used to track a second time zone. Align the bezel’s marker with the relevant hour hand or reference time, then read the second time against the bezel scale. Time+Tide’s feature explains the design choice as useful for tracking another time zone; its comment that few people need a tachymeter is the author’s opinion, not a measured finding.

Which HZ.02 dial variants are available?
Time+Tide’s 2024 feature describes five configurations: black and blue panda, black and blue reverse panda, and olive green. The official product page uses the labels Black, Black Panda, Blue, Blue Panda and Green. The naming difference means the product-page labels should not be assumed to map one-to-one to the feature’s panda descriptions without checking the current images.
Is the HZ.02 currently available, and what does it cost?
As of 4 October 2026, the official HZ Watches product page lists the five variants as sold out and says the brand is working on a late-2026 restock. The page lists $479, but the surfaced listing does not specify a currency; the restock date, future price and purchase terms are not stated. Time+Tide records the 2024 launch pricing as US$249 for preorder and US$319 RRP. Those are historical launch figures, not current offers. Its feature said preorders were due to open on 30 November 2024, with delivery expected in 2025.

The specifications point to a particular set of priorities rather than a universal fit. It may suit someone looking for a smaller chronograph with a titanium case, sapphire front and back, a second-time-zone bezel and quartz-regulated timekeeping. Before choosing one, consider whether you want a chronograph, whether the 37mm case and 43mm lug-to-lug suit your wrist, and whether you prefer the bezel’s second-time-zone function to a tachymeter scale. No hands-on assessment is established here, so comfort, finishing and real-world performance should not be inferred from specifications alone.
