The Blancpain Grande Double Sonnerie 15GSQ combines three striking functions—grande sonnerie, petite sonnerie and minute repeater—with two selectable melodies, a flying tourbillon and a retrograde perpetual calendar. Its defining idea is that the owner can choose between Westminster and an original Blancpain melody for the automatic chime. Blancpain calls it the most complicated watch in its history; that is the manufacturer’s characterization, not an independently established industry ranking.
What makes the 15GSQ a double sonnerie?
A sonnerie chimes the time automatically as it passes; a minute repeater lets the wearer request a chime. The 15GSQ combines grande sonnerie and petite sonnerie with a minute repeater, so it offers both automatic striking modes and an on-demand one. Blancpain’s product page describes the grande sonnerie as sounding the quarters on the hour, with all four quarters played for an extended performance. It does not set out the watch’s exact strike sequence for every mode, so the names alone should not be taken as a complete operating guide.
The “double” refers to the choice of two melodies for the grande sonnerie: the Westminster melody and an original melody composed by Eric Singer, according to Blancpain. The owner selects the melody with a pusher in the case. Blancpain identifies the four notes as E, G, F and B, and says that each note has its own hammer and gong. In other words, the distinction is not two separate chime mechanisms, but two selectable tunes played by the watch’s striking system.
Blancpain also describes a silent magnetic regulator and a vibrating acoustic membrane integrated into the bezel to transmit sound. Those are the maker’s descriptions of the engineering; no independent acoustic measurement is established here. Marc A. Hayek, Blancpain’s CEO and president, describes the goal as more than volume: “Listening to a sonnerie is like tasting of a grand wine. It is not merely a question of volume, but the clarity, the resonance, the persistence, the richness.”

What else is packed into the movement?
The striking mechanism shares the watch with a flying tourbillon and a fully integrated retrograde perpetual calendar. The calendar displays the day, month, leap year and date; the date hand returns along a retrograde scale. Two separate power-reserve indicators distinguish the movement’s running reserve from the reserve available to the striking mechanism.
Blancpain describes the 15GSQ as the most complicated watch in its history. The maker says its development took eight years and involved 1,200 technical drawings and 21 patents developed, of which 13 were integrated into the finished construction. Blancpain’s product page does not give a specific publication year for those development figures; they are manufacturer-reported, not independently audited figures.

These figures are from Blancpain’s 2025 technical specification sheet. The 96-hour figure is the movement reserve; the separate 12-hour figure applies to striking in grande sonnerie mode. They describe different reserves and should not be conflated.

What do the dimensions and production limit mean for a buyer?
At 47 mm across and 54.6 mm lug-to-lug, the published case dimensions are substantial on paper. The 14.5 mm thickness and 23 mm lug width add further useful fit information, but dimensions alone cannot establish how the watch will wear on a particular wrist. Its water-resistance rating is 1 bar / 10 m, so this is not a watch to treat as suitable for swimming or water sports.
Blancpain’s 2025 sheet limits production to two timepieces per year. That is an annual production statement, not confirmation that a watch is currently available, that a buyer can obtain an allocation, or when delivery might occur. The reviewed official material does not establish a public price, current availability, allocation procedure or delivery timing.

What is known—and what remains a Blancpain claim?
The reference numbers, dimensions, movement details, reserves and annual production limit are specifications published by Blancpain. The melody selection and descriptions of the regulator and acoustic membrane are also the manufacturer’s account of the design. Blancpain’s claims about development duration, drawings and patents should likewise be understood as maker-reported figures.
The Blancpain press-lounge listing dates the announcement to November 24, 2025. No independent hands-on ownership account or acoustic-performance measurement is established in the cited material, and no broader competitor comparison supports calling the 15GSQ the first or best watch of its kind.
