The Kurono Tokyo 2024 Anniversary Reiwa is a 37mm Grand Series automatic watch created for Kurono’s fifth anniversary. Its defining feature is a difficult two-tone cylindrical dial—lapis green around a deep black mirrored center—and it became the final release in Kurono’s Reiwa line. Kurono’s official page lists it as sold out.
What the 2024 Anniversary Reiwa is
Kurono Tokyo presented the 2024 Anniversary Reiwa as a one-time return of the Reiwa design, which first appeared in 2019. The company said the line would be permanently retired after this anniversary launch. It is part of Kurono’s Grand Series rather than a routine production model, giving the watch both anniversary and final-edition significance without an officially stated production number.
The Ruri-Numa-inspired dial
Designer Hajime Asaoka drew the dial’s palette from Ruri-Numa, one of the lakes in Japan’s Goshiki-Numa area. Asaoka described seeing, at dusk, the contrast between tree-trunk shadows and the lake’s green reflections, with volcanic materials contributing to the water’s unusual color.
The dial is made as a single cylindrical plate. Its metallic lapis-green periphery rises steeply toward a deep-black mirrored center, creating the watch’s signature contrast. This is not a conventional flat two-color dial: the curved perimeter, reflective center and demanding color transition all have to remain consistent across the finished surface.

Why production was unusually difficult
Kurono described the 2024 Reiwa as the most difficult watch in its repertoire to manufacture. After production began in January 2024, the company reported that, on average, only 5 out of every 100 dials were accepted. That approximate 5% acceptance rate applies to the dials produced under this manufacturing process; it is not an edition-size figure and does not establish how many watches were ultimately made.

How the Miyota 90S5 affects ownership
The Miyota 90S5 is a mechanical automatic movement, so wrist motion winds the mainspring during wear. Its 28,800-vibrations-per-hour rate supports a contemporary seconds-hand sweep, while the stated 40-hour reserve lets the watch run for roughly a day and a half after removal when fully wound. A solid caseback keeps the movement hidden, and the 3 ATM rating calls for splash-level caution rather than swimming or bathing use.

Price and current availability
Kurono’s Japanese domestic price was ¥305,690 including tax, or ¥277,900 before tax. Those figures describe the Japanese domestic listing, not a universal international price.
The official product page is marked sold out and states that the Reiwa line was permanently retired after this launch. Kurono’s consulted material does not state a total production quantity, so no edition count can be assigned responsibly.

2024 Reiwa versus the 2019 Reiwa
The 2024 watch is best understood as a final interpretation of the earlier Reiwa rather than an unrelated successor. A meaningful comparison should concentrate on four areas:
- Dial treatment: the 2024 model’s lapis-green perimeter and black mirrored center create its most obvious visual distinction, together with the reported low acceptance rate.
- Collecting context: the 2024 release commemorates Kurono’s fifth anniversary and closes the Reiwa line.
- Case and movement: compare the published dimensions, Miyota 90S5 specification and other technical details directly with those of a particular 2019 example.
- Availability: the 2024 model is sold out from Kurono, so sourcing is now primarily a secondary-market question.
Can you still buy one?
Not from Kurono’s current official listing. A secondary-market listing or dealer may be the only route, but availability, pricing and condition will vary. Before paying, request clear photographs of the dial, case, crystal, movement documentation and strap, and verify that the seller’s description matches the 37mm case, 20mm lugs and Miyota 90S5 movement. Check authenticity, service history, return terms and any import taxes or buyer protections; a listing is an opportunity, not proof that a watch is genuine or complete.

Choosing a replacement strap
The supplied strap uses a 20mm lug width, making a correctly sized 20mm watch strap the natural replacement category. A black leather watch strap can preserve the original character, while a green-accented option can echo the dial. Confirm the strap’s lug measurement, thickness and buckle fit before ordering; nominal width alone does not guarantee compatibility.
