Its newly developed Cal. SSGT puts the displays and mechanisms together in a compact layout, while the maker’s listed Japanese price is ¥17,600,000 including tax.
What the No. 9 displays and does
Two rotating disks show the time: the upper disk displays the hours and the lower disk displays the minutes. At the top of each hour, the hour display jumps forward and the minute display resets. Ōtsuka Lōtec calls the minute function “rewinding minutes”; it behaves like a retrograde display, but rather than a hand sweeping an arc, the disk moves in a scale-like motion and snaps back to zero. A hairspring at the disk’s center powers that return. A luminous block beneath the numerals helps make them visible in low light, and a slim power-reserve indicator sits just right of center.
The offset tourbillon is positioned so its motion is visible on the dial. At each hour, a hammer strikes a pipe-shaped gong along the dial’s left side. This is an hour-striking function, not a minute repeater: the available specifications describe an hourly strike, not a mechanism activated on demand to chime the time.

Cal. SSGT: a layered, manually wound movement
Ōtsuka Lōtec describes Cal. SSGT as a newly developed in-house movement. It is manually wound, has a free-sprung balance, and runs at 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz). The maker specifies approximately 40 hours of power reserve, 30 jewels plus five ball bearings, and 278 components. Movement dimensions are 41.3 × 26.4 mm and 10.35 mm thick; those figures describe the caliber, not the case.
The movement’s name refers to a sushi geta, the wooden platform used to serve sushi. According to the maker, the layered arrangement of functions on the main plate reminded its developer of sushi arranged on one. Ōtsuka Lōtec also says some parts, including the barrel, come from Cal. 6498, a qualification worth keeping alongside its in-house description.

Small bearings at two key points
MinebeaMitsumi says it supplied custom ruby ball bearings for the hour-disk central shaft and the hour-striking hammer pivot, as well as smaller ball bearings used in the watch. Its 2025 release gives the ruby bearing’s dimensions as 2.50 mm outer diameter, 1.00 mm inner diameter and 0.70 mm thick. The smaller bearing measures 1.50 mm outer diameter, 0.50 mm inner diameter and 0.65 mm thick. MinebeaMitsumi calls the 1.50 mm bearing the world’s smallest; that is the component maker’s claim. Case, materials and wearing dimensions
The stainless-steel case measures 48 mm long and 30 mm wide, with a maximum thickness of 13 mm. It is made from 316L stainless steel, has a sapphire crystal and a solid case back, and is fitted with a calfskin strap. Lug width is 26 mm. The maker lists water resistance at 3 ATM, so the No. 9 should not be treated as a swimming or diving watch. Ōtsuka Lōtec states that the watch is made in Japan and carries a one-year warranty.

Listed price and availability
Ōtsuka Lōtec’s model page lists the Japanese price as ¥17,600,000 including tax, or ¥16,000,000 before tax. This is the manufacturer’s listed price; confirm it with the maker because prices and availability can change. The available sources do not establish the No. 9’s current stock status or production allocation.
Ōtsuka Lōtec announced completion of the No. 9 with Cal. SSGT on 2025-09-22 in its official notice. Hodinkee reported on that date that availability and production quantity were undecided at launch.
