The LG118 is best understood as an inexpensive, older watch-phone, not a modern smartwatch. Some versions can make calls through a SIM or pair with a phone over Bluetooth, but reported hardware varies and at least one documented version uses legacy 2G GSM. Buy one only if you can verify the exact unit, its phone compatibility and—if you need cellular service—the carrier and network it will use.
What is the LG118?
LG118 is a name used for similar-looking budget smartwatch-phones, including versions sold as the EasySMX LG118 and products described under other reseller names. It does not identify a consistently documented product line: published accounts differ on details such as camera resolution, SIM format and supported functions. Treat the exact listing and unit—not the model name alone—as the source of truth. Historical reviews describe the watch and its features at Marius Sescu, TheTechHacker and Gadget Explained.
The “LG” in the model name is not evidence that LG Electronics made or supports it. LG’s support pages identify actual LG watches by other model numbers, including LGW150 and LGW270; they do not establish the LG118 as an LG Electronics product.
Before buying, ask for photos of the rear label and battery, the device’s About screen, the manual, SIM size, cellular bands, companion app name and return terms. Those details matter more than a seller’s broad “Android/iOS” or “unlocked” claims.

LG118 specifications: what is commonly reported?
These figures describe historical reviews or particular listings, not guaranteed specifications for every watch carrying the LG118 name.
| Item | Reported detail | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 1.54-inch touchscreen; 240 × 240 pixels | Resolution reported by TheTechHacker; verify the unit. |
| Bluetooth | Bluetooth 3.0 | Reported for documented versions; phone and feature support can vary. |
| Cellular | GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz | Gadget Explained documents these bands for an EasySMX version; it is 2G, not LTE or 5G. |
| Battery | 3.7 V, 550 mAh, removable | Reported for an EasySMX version; condition and replacement fit matter. |
| Camera | Claims range from 0.3 MP to 1.3 MP or 2 MP | Specifications conflict across reviews and listings. |
| Dimensions and weight | 58.5 × 39.5 × 12.3 mm; 70 g | EasySMX-specific figures reported by Gadget Explained. |
| Storage | MicroSD up to 32 GB | Reported for one version; confirm the slot and supported capacity. |
| Software | Simple proprietary interface | Not Wear OS; no modern app ecosystem is established. |
Design, display and interface
The reported 1.54-inch screen gives room for basic menus, alerts and call controls, but this is a simple touch interface rather than Wear OS or watchOS. Historical hands-on accounts describe touch navigation as usable while noting that typing on the small screen is awkward; some versions offer handwriting input. Translation quality in the interface or manual may also be poor. RoteK’s hands-on review specifically describes a non-Wear OS interface and complaints about the watch’s bulk and text entry.
At 70 g and roughly 12.3 mm thick in one EasySMX-specific report, it is a substantial watch for its size. One reviewer found it imposing and uncomfortable enough to take off while writing; experiences are subjective, and other coverage describes the strap and interface more positively. The casing is described as metal or metal-look, with a rubber-like strap and removable rear cover on documented versions. Check the actual unit for wear and fit, especially if you have a smaller wrist.

Calling, messages and cellular service
Bluetooth mode with a phone
When paired, the LG118 is reported to handle calls and, depending on the phone and software, display contacts, call logs or messages and control music. Pairing for calls does not guarantee notification delivery: phones may expose separate Bluetooth profiles, and an older companion app or notification-push permission may be required. Historical claims about Android 4.3-or-newer support do not confirm operation with current Android releases.
iPhone support is particularly uncertain. Gadget Explained reported that Bluetooth calling remained possible on iPhone, while notification push, remote camera capture and anti-loss features were unavailable. That historical result does not establish compatibility with current iOS. Treat an absent feature as a possible phone/app limitation, not proof that the watch is defective.
Standalone SIM mode
Some versions accept a SIM and can make or receive calls without a nearby phone. The documented EasySMX version is 2G GSM on 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, with no CDMA support; it is not an LTE or 5G watch. Other versions may differ, and SIM size is not consistent across the available descriptions. “Unlocked” does not mean compatible with every carrier, and the evidence does not establish reliable current US activation.

- Please note that this protective film is made of flexible plastic.
- 99% transparency preserves the original screen's brightness and definition.
- 4H hardness protects your screen from daily scratches, scrapes, and normal signs of wear.
- Self-healing technology enables the film to recover from minor scratches in 48 hours.
- Bubble-free, fingerprint-free, dust-resistant. No sticky residue when removed.
Before relying on SIM service, confirm each of these points with the seller and carrier:
- The exact watch’s printed GSM bands and SIM format.
- Whether the carrier still operates compatible 2G service in your area and permits legacy, non-certified devices.
- Whether voice, SMS and any expected data service are provisioned for that device.
- Whether the watch’s IMEI is accepted by the carrier.
- Whether the SIM has a PIN lock; if it does, disable the PIN in a compatible phone before inserting it, if the watch cannot enter it.
A legacy GSM smartwatch manual provides an example of 2G bands and SIM PIN considerations, but it is for a different product and cannot verify LG118 compatibility: SimWatch SSW-02 manual.

Camera, music and extra functions
Do not buy the LG118 for its camera. Reported resolution ranges from 0.3 MP to 1.3 or 2 MP, and a hands-on review found the image quality poor. Whatever the exact variant, treat the camera as a novelty or emergency option, not an everyday camera. Some versions also offer remote phone-camera control, but historical reporting indicates that this function may not work with iPhone.

Other commonly advertised tools include music playback, microphone and speaker, voice recording, alarm, calendar, calculator, phone-finding or anti-loss alerts, and sometimes FM radio or NFC. A microSD slot and support for cards up to 32 GB are reported for one version, not every LG118. Verify the specific slot, capacity and Bluetooth audio behavior if those functions are important; a feature appearing in a listing does not guarantee it works with your phone.
Fitness and sleep tracking
The commonly reported health tools are a pedometer, basic sleep estimates and a sedentary reminder. These are rudimentary features, not evidence of medical-grade measurement. The reviewed material does not establish GPS, heart-rate monitoring, ECG, blood-oxygen measurement or clinical health functions for the LG118, so do not assume the “health smartwatch” label includes them.
Battery life and used-unit condition
Historical reviews report a removable 550 mAh battery and roughly one to two days of use under their own test conditions; another account says light use could reach three days. Bluetooth use reduces endurance. These are old reviewer observations, not a present-day guarantee. A unit stored for years may have a badly degraded battery even if it powers on.

Inspect the cell before charging. Do not use a swollen battery, and verify its label, dimensions, connector and protection circuit before seeking a replacement. If the watch will not charge, check the cable and charging contacts as well as the battery; avoid leaving an old lithium cell charging unattended.

- Inspect and charge: Check the watch, charging contacts and removable battery for damage or swelling. Use the supplied cable and do not charge a swollen cell.
- Verify cards first: Confirm the exact SIM format and microSD support from the unit or manual before inserting either card. Disable a SIM PIN in another phone if necessary.
- Start the watch: Power it on and select the language. Do not expect an Android or Wear OS setup flow.
- Pair carefully: Pair through the phone’s Bluetooth settings. If calls work but alerts do not, check whether calls and notifications use separate profiles or permissions.
- Check the companion app: Install only the app named by the manual or exact listing, and grant notification or background permissions only if the app and phone offer them. Historical support does not verify that an old app works on a current phone.
- Test one feature at a time: Check calls, SMS, notifications, music and camera control separately. This helps distinguish a pairing problem from a phone-platform limitation.
- Diagnose a failed SIM: Test it in a known-compatible phone, confirm the watch’s bands and SIM size, and ask the carrier about legacy GSM support and device acceptance before replacing the SIM.
Pros and cons
| Potential advantage | Trade-off |
|---|---|
| Can combine basic Bluetooth functions with a standalone phone mode on some versions | 2G service and carrier acceptance may make standalone calling unusable. |
| Removable battery and a long list of basic tools | Battery condition, replacement availability and advertised features vary. |
| Large touchscreen and simple menus | Thick, relatively heavy case; small-screen text entry is cumbersome. |
| Basic step counting and reminders | Not a substitute for a current fitness tracker or reliable health sensors. |
| No dependence on Wear OS or watchOS | No established modern app ecosystem or software-update path. |
Who should consider the LG118?
It may suit a collector, tinkerer or buyer who specifically wants a low-cost wrist phone and has confirmed that the exact unit and SIM work on a compatible network. It may also be interesting as a retro gadget if dependable daily use is not the goal.
Skip it if you need current cellular service, GPS, reliable health tracking, water resistance, contactless payments, voice-assistant support, modern iPhone notifications, security updates or dependable replacement parts. Choose by need instead: a current LTE smartwatch for standalone calling, a fitness tracker for activity and battery life, a supported smartwatch for apps and notifications, or a feature phone if calls and texts matter more than wearing the device.
Historical coverage placed the LG118 around $30 in 2015, while a reseller page has been indexed at $102.98; those dated and reseller price signals do not establish current value or live availability. At any price, confirm what is actually being sold and whether it meets your use case before ordering. The reseller’s LG118 listing is not evidence of LG Electronics manufacture or support.
