The available specifications and design details vary by edition, and the exact reference for this collection-level title is not identified. This is therefore a guide to what is documented about the family—not a report of personal wear testing.
What is the Maurice Lacroix AIKON #tide made of?
The case components identified by the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH are made from a composite combining #tide ocean-bound upcycled plastic and glass fibre. The FH lists the bezel, case, case back, crown, end-piece and buckle as composite parts. The precise formula is not disclosed.
Maurice Lacroix’s October 2023 description says collected bottles are sorted, washed, compacted and shredded into flakes, then turned into granules and combined using the brand’s undisclosed formula. The watch is not simply described as being made entirely of recycled plastic: the documented material is a composite, and the cited report does not identify every component’s material. FH’s 2022 report and Maurice Lacroix’s October 2023 account provide the component and process descriptions.
The FH report characterizes the composite as “twice as hard as standard plastic” and “five times more resistant.” It does not provide a test method or define the comparison material, so these should be read as claims reported by the FH, not as a universal or independently verifiable durability result.

What specifications are documented?
The title does not identify a reference or colorway, so the following specifications belong to particular published descriptions rather than every AIKON #tide by default.
| Published description | Documented details |
|---|---|
| FH-described AIKON #tide model, 2022 | 40 mm case diameter, flat sapphire crystal, screw-lock crown, screw-in case back and 100 m water resistance. FH, 2022 |
| Black, red and white edition, 2024 | 40 mm case, sapphire glass and 10 ATM water resistance. Maurice Lacroix, April 2024 |
| QKOTC collaboration, reference not specified here | Black edition with gold accents, crown-pattern dial, white Super-LumiNova on hands and indices, date at 3 o’clock, and black rubber strap with a gold Maurice Lacroix “M” logo. The announcement also specifies Easy Strap Exchange. Maurice Lacroix’s QKOTC announcement |
100 m and 10 ATM are consistent water-resistance ratings in the cited descriptions, but check the product page for the exact reference you are considering. The available sources do not establish the movement details for the watch in this title.

How should you interpret the bottle and sustainability claims?
Maurice Lacroix’s figures describe the brand’s initiative; they are not independently audited outcomes in the cited pages. The numbers also refer to different things and dates, so they should not be combined into a single measure of what one watch contains.
- 17 bottles: In 2024, the brand said each black, red and white AIKON #tide sold corresponds to 17 bottles removed from the oceans. Its 2023 QKOTC announcement instead said 17 bottles go into one watch and its packaging. These are brand-reported formulations, not an independent material audit. 2024 statement; 2023 statement
- Collection commitment and progress: Maurice Lacroix announced an initial commitment in 2022 to collect 10 million bottles over three years. In its October 2023 update, the brand said more than 7 million had been gathered after 1.5 years, from seas, islands and coastlines around islands in Thailand. Brand update, October 2023
- Education: The same 2023 update said 550 children across 13 schools had attended recycling and marine-environment workshops under the initiative. This is also a company-reported figure. Brand update, October 2023
These claims give context to the project, but they do not establish the life-cycle impact of a watch or independently verify the amount of ocean-bound plastic in a particular reference.

Can you change the strap?
The QKOTC collaboration announcement describes Maurice Lacroix’s Easy Strap Exchange system as tool-free. That is useful if you want to swap the supplied strap, but do not assume every strap or bracelet fits every #tide: confirm compatibility with the exact reference and the accessory listing before buying.
