Meta acquired AI-wearables startup Limitless on December 5, 2025, and stopped selling its Limitless Pendant. The deal brought Limitless’ team into Meta’s wearables organization within Reality Labs, but Meta has not announced a new pendant or said that it will continue the product. For former customers, the immediate questions are support, subscriptions, and what happens to recorded data.
What did Meta acquire?
Limitless, formerly known as Rewind, had shifted from desktop-recording software to wearable devices. Its main product was the Limitless Pendant: a small device that could clip onto clothing or be worn on a lanyard or necklace. It recorded conversations and produced transcriptions and summaries.
Meta and Limitless did not disclose the financial terms of the acquisition, Reuters reported in 2025. TechCrunch reported that Limitless had raised more than $33 million from a16z, First Round Capital, and NEA. TechCrunch also reported a $99 price for the pendant; that is its reported product price, not an acquisition valuation or a current offer.
What happened to the Limitless Pendant and its customers?
Limitless stopped selling hardware after the acquisition announcement. TechCrunch reported in 2025 that existing customers would receive one year of support, that subscription charges would be removed temporarily through an Unlimited Plan, and that users would be offered the option to export or delete their data. These measures concern existing customers; they do not mean the pendant remains on sale or that Meta has taken over its retail availability.

Limitless’ non-pendant Rewind software was also being wound down, according to TechCrunch. If you still have a device or account, check Limitless’ own customer communications for the applicable support period and instructions for exporting or deleting data. The reported announcement does not establish that every service or feature will remain available throughout that period.
How does Limitless fit Meta’s AI-wearables strategy?
Limitless co-founder and CEO Dan Siroker said the company shared Meta’s vision for AI-enabled wearables and would join Meta to help advance it, Reuters reported in 2025. Meta said the team would help accelerate its work on AI-enabled wearables; TechCrunch reported that it would join the wearables organization within Reality Labs.

The deal therefore adds wearable-AI talent and technology to Meta’s efforts. It does not, by itself, establish that Meta plans to launch a Limitless-derived pendant. At the time of the announcement, Meta had not named a successor product, given a launch date, or described an integration roadmap.

Meta Glasses are a useful comparison for understanding the difference between the products, not evidence that the pendant continues. Meta’s June 23, 2026 announcement describes the glasses as a product launched with EssilorLuxottica, starting at $299 and sold through Meta.com and listed retailers.

The products also represent different approaches: the pendant centered on audio capture and written records of conversations, while glasses put AI features into eyewear. The Limitless workflow raised practical questions about recorded data, including export and deletion. Meta’s announcement about its glasses does not establish that their account, recording, or privacy controls are the same as Limitless’.
