Pixel Watch is now Google’s smartwatch line. Fitbit itself is not disappearing: the brand remains attached to trackers, screenless devices and health services, but buyers waiting for another Fitbit watch should plan around the products that exist today.
Google has ended Fitbit-branded smartwatches
In July 2026, Wareable reported that Google confirmed it would make no more Fitbit smartwatches. That makes a Sense 3 or Versa 5 highly unlikely; neither model has been announced. Google has not published a product-by-product cancellation notice for those names, so the precise conclusion is that Fitbit smartwatch production has ended, rather than that Google issued separate formal cancellation announcements for each successor.
The direction had already been signaled by Google’s description of Pixel Watch as “our smartwatch part of the portfolio,” as reported by Android Authority. Google’s current store listings show Pixel Watch models alongside remaining Fitbit products such as Sense 2 and Versa 4, but no newer Fitbit smartwatch. Availability varies by country and may change as remaining stock sells through; check the regional Google Store device list for local availability.
What happens to the Sense and Versa lines?
No Sense 3 is expected
Sense 2 is the last mainline Sense smartwatch in the current lineup. With Google’s stated strategy assigning smartwatch hardware to Pixel Watch and its reported end to Fitbit smartwatches, waiting for a Sense 3 is not a sound buying plan.

- The new Google Pixel Watch 5 offers a smarter way to a healthier you.[1,2]; Designed for Gemini Intelligence, get proactive help, and personalized insights from Google Health[3,4]; watch is compatible with Android devices only; not compatible with iOS devices
- Precision-crafted to do it all: The Google Pixel Watch 5 features the domed Actua 360 display with scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass and up to 40 hours of battery life[1,5]
- Metrics that matter: Advanced sensors help you stay ahead of your health and wellness; and Google Pixel’s most accurate heart rate tracking is fine-tuned for your activity[6,7]
- Understand your sleep like never before: Your watch captures insights like the time spent in sleep stages to breathing regularity, then summarizes it all in a personalized Sleep Score[8,9]
- Detects loss of pulse, then calls for help: Pixel Watch 5 is the only smartwatch to feature Loss of Pulse Detection, which can prompt a call to emergency services[10]
No Versa 5 is expected
Versa 4 likewise appears to be the final Versa. The line’s smartwatch distinction had already narrowed: Android Authority’s Versa 4 coverage notes the absence of features such as Wi-Fi, third-party apps and music functionality. Those limitations reduced its overlap with Pixel Watch, but also left less reason for buyers seeking a conventional smartwatch to choose it.
Buying Sense 2 or Versa 4 now
Remaining stock may suit someone who values the Fitbit watch experience, but these are older-generation products without direct successors. Before buying new, refurbished or used, check seller reputation, return terms, warranty coverage, device condition and which features remain available in your region. For used or refurbished units, battery condition is especially important.
Fitbit is not disappearing
The change is about Fitbit-branded smartwatches, not the whole Fitbit brand. Google continues to offer trackers and health products, and its 2026 portfolio includes Fitbit Charge 6, Inspire 3, Ace LTE, Sense 2 and Versa 4 in applicable markets, alongside Pixel Watch. Its May 2026 Fitbit and Google Health announcement also introduced Google Fitbit Air. Google has said it remains committed to Fitbit and will continue product development.

Fitbit Air is screenless, not a new Versa
Google Fitbit Air is a screenless wellness-tracking device for people who want passive monitoring without a conventional watch display. Google announced it at $99 for the standard version and $129 for the Special Edition, with three months of Google Health Premium included. Those are launch-announcement figures from May 7, 2026; check the live offer and regional terms before purchase.
Air is not a substitute for a Sense or Versa if you need on-wrist notifications, apps, music controls, a watch face, calls, GPS navigation or other on-device smartwatch interaction. It is a better fit for discreet, lightweight tracking when a screen is not wanted.
Pixel Watch is the closest replacement, but not a one-for-one substitute
Pixel Watch is the first-party route for Fitbit owners who want to keep the Google ecosystem and add full smartwatch functions. Google has incorporated Fitbit health and fitness technology into Pixel Watch. That makes Pixel Watch the strategic successor for smartwatch buyers, not a feature-for-feature replacement for the simpler Fitbit watches.

Choose by what you actually use
Choose Pixel Watch for smartwatch functions
Look at Pixel Watch if you rely on apps, notifications, calls, payments, navigation, music or Google services on your wrist. It is the closest first-party match for a Sense or Versa owner who wants a genuine smartwatch. Be prepared for a more involved device and more frequent charging than the classic Fitbit-watch experience may have required.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsChoose a Fitbit tracker for simpler, longer-wearing tracking
Charge 6 or Inspire 3 may fit better if your priorities are activity and health tracking, a smaller device and fewer smartwatch distractions. They do not reproduce the watch-style interface or full smartwatch features of a Versa or Sense.

- Google Pixel Watch has a beautiful circular, domed design and new experience with Wear OS by Google, so it’s easy to get help at a glance
- Stay on top of activity, calories burned, and more with Fitbit activity tracking
- Track your heart rate and get insight into your sleep
- Save time with things like Google Wallet for contactless payments, turn-by-turn directions using Maps, and event notifications from Calendar
- Stay connected and productive wherever you go; respond to messages, manage your inbox, and make calls right from your wrist
Choose Fitbit Air only if you want no screen
Air is for passive tracking without a watch display. Skip it if you want to interact with a watch, read alerts or use apps from your wrist.
Look beyond Google when your phone or sport needs point elsewhere
- Garmin: worth comparing for sports, training tools and battery priorities.
- Apple Watch: the natural ecosystem comparison for iPhone owners.
- Samsung Galaxy Watch: an Android/Wear OS alternative, particularly for Samsung phone users.
- CMF by Nothing or Xiaomi: lower-cost smartwatch options, but verify phone compatibility, health functions, software updates and regional support for the exact model.
None is universally the best replacement. Phone compatibility, battery expectations, GPS, cellular needs, app support, health features and any subscription requirements should drive the choice. Current prices and regional availability for these alternatives are not established here.

The Fitbit app became Google Health
Beginning May 19, 2026, the Fitbit app transitioned to the Google Health app. Google describes the change as an expanded health experience for connected Fitbit devices and Pixel Watches, rather than a discontinuation of Fitbit devices. The app’s four main tabs are Today, Fitness, Sleep and Health. The transition was designed to happen automatically; when the update is available, users can also update through their app store. Details are in Google’s Google Health app announcement.
Best Value
- The Google Pixel Watch 3 is designed for performance, with advanced fitness from Fitbit[1,2]; the 45mm screen is twice as bright and 40% larger than before, making it easier to see your stats and info[1]
- Maximize your performance with advanced running features; build custom run workouts and get real-time guidance and advanced form tracking[3]
- Enhance your run routine with Fitbit Premium; Google AI uses your goals, past runs, and readiness to power personalized run recommendations[3]
- Know what your body is ready for each day with readiness; it uses sleep, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability to show if you’re ready to take on a workout or prioritize recovery[3]
- Cardio load measures how hard your heart works so you can see how hard you’ve pushed; compare trends to see if you’re under- or over-training[3]
A new app name does not guarantee that every legacy feature remains unchanged. For example, Google’s Google Health help page says Snore Detection will no longer be available to Sense and Versa 3 users. That specific notice should not be generalized to every Sense or Versa model.
Support dates are model-specific
Google says Fitbit devices receive security updates for at least two years after the applicable device is last sold on Fitbit.com or the Google Store. Its device security-update policy lists Versa 3’s end date as December 2025; consult the current page for the Sense 2 and Versa 4 entries rather than assuming the same date applies to them. Security-update coverage also does not promise that every service or feature will remain available indefinitely.
Developers and data-export users face a separate change
Google’s Google Health API documentation schedules the legacy Fitbit Web API to be turned down in September 2026, with data moving through the Google Health API. As of August 16, 2026, that was a scheduled future change, not a completed shutdown. Developers and users of third-party services should check the documentation for the precise cutoff and migration requirements before relying on an integration.
Why Google is drawing this product boundary
Google has not laid out every business reason for ending Fitbit watches. Its public direction and product lineup point to a clearer division: Pixel Watch handles smartwatch functions, while Fitbit contributes health technology, trackers, simpler wearables and services. Reusing Fitbit’s health capabilities in Pixel Watch reduces product overlap and preserves Fitbit’s role without maintaining two Google smartwatch lines. That is a reading of the portfolio, not a separately announced explanation for each product decision.
