PAM05218 is Panerai’s current Luminor Marina Militare tribute to reference 5218-202/A. The brand describes the 1993 watch as one of three models introduced that year and the only one of the three created exclusively for the Marina Militare. The modern model redraws the “Marina Militare” dial inscription and has an OP logo on the caseback. Panerai’s official product listing identifies the current watch as a 44 mm steel model with a DLC coating.

How PAM05218 relates to the 5218-202/A
The PAM05218 is a tribute, not a complete one-to-one specification record of the 1993 watch. Panerai’s listing explains that Luminor cases from the 1960s were 47 mm and frames the modern 44 mm case as part of a move toward a more refined design. That 47 mm historical figure refers to the 1960s cases; Panerai does not establish it as the diameter of the 5218-202/A.

One visual feature has a specific origin in Panerai’s account. The company says that, in some early 5218-202/A examples, a chemical reaction between tritium and varnish produced orange-brown numerals and greenish hands. Panerai says later batches corrected the issue and that the current watch recreates the unusual colour contrast with modern materials. This is the brand’s explanation of the early variation.

What strap fits the PAM05218?
Panerai specifies a 24/24 calf-leather strap and describes an additional rubber strap for the watch. Its published specification also gives the buckle as 24 mm and describes a sewn-in construction. Those details do not, by themselves, confirm that a generic 24 mm aftermarket strap or buckle will fit: before buying, verify the watch’s lug width, attachment construction and buckle compatibility with the seller or a qualified watch professional.
