If your Pixel Watch suddenly began sending a “Fully charged” alert to your phone, it is an official Google feature—not a sign that the watch is malfunctioning or that you necessarily changed a setting. Google announced the 100% Charge Notification on October 9, 2024, and said it was enabled by default. Its rollout and continued availability have not been consistent for every owner.
What the Pixel Watch fully charged notification does
When the watch reaches 100% while charging, Google’s feature sends a notification to the paired phone. It is meant to remind you to put the watch back on so it can resume activity, health and sleep tracking. Google says the notification dismisses automatically when you remove the watch from its charger. It is generally a phone notification, not necessarily an alert sounding directly from the watch. Google’s announcement called it the “100% Charge Notification.”
Why did it start appearing without warning?
The most likely explanation for the sudden appearance reported in October 2024 is an uneven feature rollout. Owners reported seeing the alert before Google confirmed it, and contemporary coverage described it appearing for some people but not others. Google later announced that it was available for Pixel Watch devices. The announcement does not explain the technical delivery method or give a device-by-device schedule, so a server-side rollout is a reasonable inference, not a confirmed implementation detail. Droid Life’s contemporaneous report and Android Central’s rollout coverage describe the uneven arrival.
An app or Android update can also change notification categories or how they are presented, and a third-party battery or automation app could create a similar alert on an individual phone. Neither is required to explain the native Google notification: Google has independently confirmed that feature.

Is it supported on every Pixel Watch or only Pixel phones?
Google’s October 2024 announcement said the feature was available to all Pixel Watch devices, but that does not establish that every model and software combination still receives it. Later owners have reported the alert disappearing, including reports involving Pixel Watch 2, 3 and 4. These reports show inconsistent real-world behavior; they do not prove Google permanently removed the feature. See Android Authority’s report on missing alerts, its later rollout coverage, and owner reports of alerts stopping.
Google’s public announcement does not restrict the alert to Pixel phones. It describes delivery to the paired phone, but does not specify exact requirements for the phone model, Android version, Pixel Watch app version or notification channel. Do not assume that a Pixel phone is required—or that a non-Pixel Android phone is guaranteed to behave identically.

If the alert stopped appearing, check notification delivery first
First distinguish a notification that is absent from one that arrives silently or is hidden. Google’s notification troubleshooting guide covers general notification and connection checks; it does not provide a separate fix for the full-charge alert.
- Confirm the trigger and connection. Let the watch reach 100%. Keep the phone powered on and nearby, and check that the watch is connected over Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or LTE as applicable. A connected watch and an available phone notification are separate parts of delivery.
- Allow Google Pixel Watch notifications on the phone. Open Settings → Notifications → App notifications → Google Pixel Watch. Enable All Google Pixel Watch notifications. If the phone shows categories, open Other or the relevant category, then check that General notifications are enabled and set to Default, not Silent. Labels can differ by phone and Android version.
- Review the Pixel Watch app’s controls. In the Google Pixel Watch app, select the connected watch if prompted, then open Notifications. Review notification controls; if silent alerts are being hidden, turn off Hide silent notifications. Check that Mute notifications from phone is off if phone notifications are being suppressed. Google also lists the path Google Pixel Watch app → Settings → Notifications → App Notifications in its notification-management guide.
- Check sound and visibility separately. A visible alert may still be silent. Check the relevant Google Pixel Watch notification category, phone notification volume and Do Not Disturb settings. On Android 16 or newer, Notification cooldown may reduce sound or vibration when several notifications from the same app arrive close together. Google documents this as a general Android behavior, not a known cause of this particular alert. Also look among silent or hidden notifications.
- Update and restart. Install available updates for the phone, watch and Google Pixel Watch app, then restart both devices and try a charging cycle again.
- Relink only if ordinary checks fail. Google recommends unlinking and pairing the watch again for persistent general notification problems. This is not a guaranteed fix for the full-charge alert. Do not jump straight to a factory reset: there is no established evidence that resetting fixes this feature, and it can add pairing or recovery work.
Can you turn the notification off?
Google said the feature was on by default, but its announcement does not identify a dedicated full-charge switch. When the notification next appears, long-press it and tap its settings or gear icon to see which notification category controls it. If Android offers a narrow category for that alert, you can silence or disable that category.

- The Google Pixel Watch Quick Charge Dock is Google’s fastest charger yet[1]
- It’s 25% faster than previous generations, giving you a full day of charge in only 30 minutes[2]
- All-new design lets your watch charge while docked on its side – making it easier than ever to power up while you’re getting ready in the morning or charging between meetings
- Only compatible with the Google Pixel Watch 4 (41mm and 45mm, sold separately)[3]
- Requires a USB-C compatible power adapter, minimum 7.5W (not included)[2]
Be cautious with broad categories such as Device notices: disabling one may also suppress other watch-status alerts. Community replies have suggested that changing a broader category can stop the full-charge notification, but that is not the same as a documented, dedicated toggle. If you want to keep the reminder, it is useful when you often forget to take the watch off the charger; if it is redundant, silence only the narrowest category available.
If it repeats or arrives at an unexpected time
Repeated or delayed alerts are not, by themselves, proof of a failing battery or watch. Possible explanations to investigate include a brief interruption in the charger connection, removing and replacing the watch, a notification delayed until the phone reconnects, or a third-party automation duplicating Google’s alert. These are diagnostic possibilities, not confirmed causes. Check whether the watch actually reached 100%, whether it moved on the charger, and whether another app has permission to create battery alerts.

- Features magnetic pins that snap into your watch for a more secure charging connection[1]

Does leaving the watch on the charger hurt its battery?
Google’s stated reason for the reminder is to encourage users to return the watch to their wrist and resume tracking; that is not evidence that one overnight charge will damage the battery. As with lithium-ion batteries generally, spending extended time at a high state of charge can contribute to long-term aging, but the available Google announcement does not make a Pixel Watch-specific guarantee about damage from ordinary charging. Charging protections and behavior can vary by model and software, so do not treat this alert as an emergency battery warning.

Google’s current general notification guidance does not document a dedicated full-charge setting or a model-by-model availability table. That limits what can be concluded from a missing alert: it may reflect notification settings or connection conditions, but public documentation does not establish a universal fix or confirm permanent removal.
