Google confirmed the Pixel Watch November 2024 update on November 12, 2024, with global build AW2A.241105.012. It resumed the Wear OS 5 rollout for Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2; Pixel Watch 3 received security and bug-fix updates. This is a historical rollout, not a release that is still pending. Availability was phased, so eligible watches did not all receive it at once.

Which Pixel Watches received the November 2024 update?

Google listed supported Pixel Watch, Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Watch 3 devices for the rollout. The update did not mean the same thing for every model:

Model What the update included
Pixel Watch Resumed the Wear OS 5 upgrade, with features, bug fixes and performance updates.
Pixel Watch 2 Resumed the Wear OS 5 upgrade, including a fix for a watch face that could fail to load after reboot.
Pixel Watch 3 Security updates and bug fixes. Pixel Watch 3 already shipped with Wear OS 5, so this was not an upgrade to Wear OS 5 for that model.

Google’s announcement described additional Play Store updates for improved camera controls and Pixel Recorder availability. It did not give a model-by-model feature list for those app updates. Google’s November 2024 update announcement has the official rollout and model information.

Build numbers and rollout timing

The global software build was AW2A.241105.012. Certain Orange LTE models in France received AW2A.241105.013. Check the complete software version in the watch’s update screen rather than relying only on a month label.

Verizon’s schedule indicated a November 12 release date for the three watch generations, but that schedule was an indication, not Google’s confirmation. Google confirmed the update on November 12 and said it would roll out in phases over approximately the following week. Carrier, region and device configuration could affect when it appeared; being eligible did not mean it would arrive immediately. Droid Life’s November 12 report covered the schedule before Google’s announcement.

Why Pixel Watch 1 and 2 owners had been waiting

This was more than a routine monthly patch for the first two Pixel Watch generations. Google had paused the Wear OS 5 rollout on September 26, 2024, after some Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 owners reported blank screens or devices stuck during installation. Google said it was working on a resolution and intended to resume the rollout later in the year. The November update was that restart; Google did not promise that every device affected by the earlier failure would recover without separate troubleshooting. Google’s rollout-pause notice describes the earlier problem.

What bugs did the update address?

The specific fixes below were reported from the update changelog reproduced by Droid Life; Google’s announcement summarized the package more broadly as security updates, bug fixes and performance improvements.

  • A rare white splash screen when returning to the watch face by pressing the crown.
  • On Pixel Watch 2, a watch face that could fail to load after a reboot.
  • Bluetooth connection failures following a connection loss.
  • Completed calls that could remain displayed as active.
  • Updated Android security patches, alongside general stability and performance improvements.

How to check for and install the update

  1. On the watch, open the app launcher.
  2. Open Settings, then System, then System updates.
  3. Let the watch check for an update. If one is offered, keep the watch on its charger and connected to Wi-Fi while it downloads and installs; avoid interrupting installation.

Google said eligible owners would receive a notification when the update became available. Repeatedly tapping the watch icon on the update screen was also described at the time as an unofficial Wear OS trick for prompting a check, but it is not a Google procedure and is not guaranteed to work.

  • See it all and do the most with the Actua 360 domed display; it’s 10% larger and 50% brighter than Pixel Watch 3, and as durable as ever with scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass[1]
  • The Google Pixel Watch 4 has Gemini built in[4]; just ask questions and your ultra capable AI assistant will deliver quick responses for personalized help; and stay connected when you’re texting with AI-powered quick replies that are hyper-relevant[5,6]
  • Get up to 30 hours of battery life or up to 48 hours in Battery Saver mode[3]; plus, the new side charging dock gives you 15 hours of battery in 15 minutes or less[7]
  • Train smarter with 40+ exercise modes and real-time stats on your wrist[8]; and with high-precision dual-frequency GPS, you get more accurate route tracking on runs and hikes[1]

If the update does not appear

  • Allow for the phased rollout; carrier and regional timing can differ.
  • Confirm the watch is charged, connected to Wi-Fi and near its paired phone.
  • Restart the watch, then check again later.
  • Check whether the full installed version is already AW2A.241105.012, or AW2A.241105.013 for the specified Orange LTE models in France.
  • Do not factory-reset a watch just because the update is not yet offered. A reset is a recovery step for a persistent blank, frozen or error screen, not a normal installation requirement.

For a device stuck or showing a blank screen, consult Google’s rollout-pause notice and troubleshooting guidance. Back up or sync important data where applicable before a factory reset.

What owners should take from the update

For Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 owners who were still waiting for Wear OS 5, the November 2024 package resumed the delayed upgrade and included fixes for specific watch, Bluetooth and call-display problems. For Pixel Watch 3 owners, it was a maintenance update, not a new Wear OS version. Some owners later reported battery drain or app-behavior issues in Google’s community thread, but individual reports do not establish that the update caused a universal regression. The community discussion contains those owner reports.
