What is the RM 72-01 Charles Leclerc?
It is a limited edition built on Richard Mille’s RM 72-01 Lifestyle Automatic Chronograph. Hodinkee identified the Charles Leclerc edition and reported a production run of 150 pieces. Richard Mille’s official RM 72-01 family page describes the base model and its movement, but does not confirm the edition count; the 150-piece figure is from Hodinkee’s May 8, 2025 report.
The distinction matters when identifying Leclerc’s own watches. Richard Mille’s official Charles Leclerc profile says he wears an RM 67-02 prototype. It does not identify the RM 72-01 Charles Leclerc edition as his regular watch. The profile also quotes his manager Nicolas Todt praising Leclerc’s performances; that is an assessment of the driver, not a technical claim about the watch.

Richard Mille says the chronograph is separated from daily timekeeping so that operating it does not impede the base movement’s operation. The brand specifies a grade 5 titanium baseplate and bridges. Hodinkee additionally reports 39 jewels and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour for the Charles Leclerc edition.
Power reserve and water resistance
Richard Mille’s official RM 72-01 model-family page gives an approximate 50-hour power reserve, with a stated tolerance of ±10%, and water resistance to 30 metres. Hodinkee reports the same reserve and water-resistance figures for the Charles Leclerc edition. The brand describes a tripartite case secured with 20 grade 5 titanium spline screws.
