This is a specification-led look at the watch, not a report of independent handling or testing.

Rolex identifies reference 136668LB as the Deepsea Oyster, 44 mm, in yellow gold. Announced in 2024, it was the first yellow-gold Deepsea version. The blue Cerachrom bezel and the ceramic compression ring in its Ringlock case architecture provide a strong color contrast with the gold case and bracelet. Rolex called the ceramic compression ring a technical innovation for this version in its 2024 launch announcement.
The watch combines a professional-diver design with a precious-metal case and bracelet. That makes “very big” and “very gold” fair descriptions of its appearance, but they are not substitutes for a wear assessment: the available information establishes Rolex’s specifications, not how the watch feels on a particular wrist.
How big is the gold Rolex Deepsea?
The Oyster case measures 44 mm across. It is made of 18 ct yellow gold and uses Rolex’s Ringlock System, a helium escape valve, a screw-down case back and a Triplock screw-down crown. Rolex specifies a domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal 5.5 mm thick. No case weight is stated on the official model page, so the diameter and gold construction should not be mistaken for a sourced weight or a personal impression of heft.

The blue dial has Chromalight markers and hands. The unidirectional bezel has a 60-minute scale and a blue, scratch-resistant Cerachrom insert, with gold-coated numerals and graduations. The bracelet is also 18 ct yellow gold; inside its links, Rolex says patented ceramic inserts help flexibility and longevity.
Bracelet adjustment
The Oysterlock folding safety clasp is paired with Rolex’s Glidelock extension system. Rolex describes 10 notches of approximately 2 mm each, for adjustment of up to about 20 mm without tools. That gives a wearer a fine-adjustment mechanism, but it does not establish how the bracelet fits every wrist or over every dive suit.

How deep can the Rolex Deepsea go?
Rolex rates reference 136668LB to 3,900 metres (12,800 feet). That is the manufacturer’s stated water-resistance rating, not a recommendation to take an individual watch to that depth. Rolex separately says Deepsea watches are pressure-tested to 4,875 metres (16,000 feet)—25% beyond the stated depth—in a hyperbaric tank developed with Comex. The test figure is Rolex’s description of its testing process, not an independent test result for this specific watch.
For this gold version, Rolex says the high-performance compression ring within the Ringlock system is ceramic. The Ringlock architecture, helium escape valve and screw-down components form part of the watch’s deep-water design; their presence does not remove the need to follow the manufacturer’s care and service guidance.

Movement, accuracy and power reserve
The watch is powered by Rolex calibre 3235, a self-winding movement with central hours, minutes and seconds, an instantaneous date with rapid setting, and stop-seconds. Rolex states an accuracy tolerance of −2/+2 seconds per day after casing and an approximately 70-hour power reserve. These are published specifications, not independently measured performance figures for an example of reference 136668LB.
Rolex describes the watch as a Superlative Chronometer: it has official chronometer certification and then Rolex certification after casing.

Who is this Deepsea for?
The 136668LB is the Deepsea for someone who wants the model’s deep-water engineering presented in an unusually conspicuous precious-metal package. The key trade-off is evident from its specifications and design: a 44 mm case, gold case and bracelet, and a bold blue-and-gold look. Rolex’s published details explain the construction and features, but they cannot tell a prospective owner whether its size, weight or visual presence will suit them in person. Trying the watch through an official retailer is the practical way to judge fit.
