There is no official confirmation that a Garmin Forerunner 975 is launching imminently. Garmin announced the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 on May 15, 2025, and its second-quarter 2025 earnings release says both launched during that quarter. A 975 remains an unconfirmed rumor, not an announced product.
What Garmin has actually announced
Garmin’s May 15, 2025 newsroom announcement introduced the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 as its latest GPS running and triathlon smartwatches. Garmin’s description highlights advanced training tools, recovery insights and personalised workouts designed to help athletes reach a new personal record.
Garmin’s Q2 2025 earnings release also records the 570 and 970 launch during that quarter. That is the latest launch information established by the official material available for this article; it does not identify a Forerunner 975.
Where the Forerunner 975 rumour comes from
The 975 discussion appears to be community speculation. In a Garmin Forums thread titled “Will there be a 975?”, a user asked whether a rumored FR 975 might arrive that year or whether the 970 was the model people had heard about. That wording shows what some readers are wondering, but a forum post is not evidence of Garmin’s product plans.

Nothing in the official announcement, the Singapore product catalogue or the Q2 earnings release confirms a 975 announcement, release date or imminent launch. That is a bounded finding from those sources, not proof that Garmin could not make a later statement.
What is confirmed about the Forerunner 970
It is an announced current-generation model
Garmin officially announced the 970 alongside the 570 on May 15, 2025. The company positions it within its running and triathlon smartwatch line, with the training, recovery and workout capabilities described in the launch announcement.

It appears in Garmin’s regional catalogue
Garmin Singapore lists the Forerunner 970 as a running smartwatch with GPS. A regional catalogue entry confirms that Garmin sells or presents the model in that market; availability, stock and pricing can differ by country.
There is no verified 975 specification sheet
No reliable product specification, price, release date or performance comparison for a Forerunner 975 is established here. The number “975” by itself is not evidence of a launch schedule, a fixed upgrade path or a particular feature set.

Should you buy a Forerunner 970 or wait?
| Option | What is established | Main uncertainty | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buy the Forerunner 970 | Garmin announced it on May 15, 2025; Garmin Singapore lists it; Garmin’s Q2 2025 release records its launch. | Regional stock, price and availability vary. | Runners and triathletes who need a confirmed Garmin model now. |
| Consider the Forerunner 570 | Garmin announced it with the 970 as part of the same running and triathlon smartwatch launch. | The supplied official material does not establish every point of difference for a detailed buying comparison. | Shoppers who want to compare Garmin’s two confirmed Forerunner launches. |
| Wait for a Forerunner 975 | Only an unconfirmed community rumor is established. | No confirmed price, date, specifications or launch announcement. | Readers comfortable delaying a purchase without knowing whether or when a successor will appear. |
Waiting is therefore a risk decision, not a way to reserve a known near-term upgrade. If you need a watch for training or racing, the 970 is the product with an established announcement and catalogue presence. If your current watch works well, waiting costs nothing except the possibility of missing a sale or delaying access to a confirmed model.
How to check whether the rumor becomes real
- Look for a Garmin newsroom announcement. A genuine launch should be accompanied by Garmin’s own product communication, not just a forum post or retailer placeholder.
- Check Garmin’s regional product pages. A listing in one country does not guarantee immediate availability everywhere, so check the catalogue for your market.
- Require concrete details. Treat a 975 as confirmed only when Garmin provides a model name together with launch timing and product information.
- Separate launch news from financial reporting. Garmin’s Q2 2025 release confirms that the 570 and 970 launched in that quarter; it does not forecast a 975.
Why “imminent” is too strong right now
An imminent-launch claim needs an official announcement or similarly direct evidence. The available official sources establish the 570 and 970 launch, while the 975 evidence is limited to community speculation. They do not support a release date, a price, a specification list or a performance claim for a 975.

For now, calling the Forerunner 975 “imminent” turns a product-number rumor into a fact. The defensible description is simpler: Garmin’s Forerunner 970 is confirmed, and a 975 is unconfirmed.
