Samsung’s blood-pressure feature is now rolling out in the United States, with the phased release beginning March 31, 2026. It enables compatible Galaxy Watches to estimate systolic pressure, diastolic pressure and pulse through Samsung Health Monitor—but it does not turn the watch into a cuff-based medical monitor.
U.S. users need a supported Galaxy Watch4 or newer model, Wear OS 4.0 or later, and a Samsung Galaxy phone running Android 12 or later. An upper-arm cuff is required for three-point calibration and again every 28 days.
What the update actually does
After calibration against an upper-arm cuff, the watch uses its optical heart-rate sensors and the calibrated reference to estimate blood pressure. You start each reading yourself; the documented workflow is not continuous, passive monitoring.
- Systolic blood pressure
- Diastolic blood pressure
- Pulse or heart rate
- Historical readings in Samsung Health Monitor on the paired phone
Samsung describes the function as wellness monitoring and trend awareness, not diagnosis or treatment. See Samsung’s U.S. rollout announcement and support guidance.

Does your Galaxy Watch support it?
| Requirement | What must be true |
|---|---|
| Watch | Galaxy Watch4 or a later supported Galaxy Watch model |
| Watch software | Wear OS 4.0 or later |
| Phone | Compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphone |
| Phone software | Android 12 or later |
| Connection | Bluetooth pairing through Galaxy Wearable |
| Region | Samsung Health Monitor blood-pressure availability in your country or account region |
| Excluded | Galaxy Fit devices; iPhones and unsupported non-Samsung Android phones |
This generally covers supported Watch4, Watch5, Watch6, Watch7, Watch8, Classic and Ultra variants, subject to software and regional availability. Check Samsung’s Health Monitor compatibility page for a specific model.
Samsung documentation for older devices such as Galaxy Watch Active2 and Galaxy Watch3 concerns some Health Monitor functions; it does not extend this U.S. blood-pressure rollout to those Tizen watches. Ordinary Samsung Health compatibility is not enough.
How the U.S. rollout works
The release is phased, so an eligible owner may not see the feature on the same day as another owner. Both the phone and watch components may need updates, and availability can remain account-, server- or region-dependent.

- Update the Samsung Galaxy phone.
- Update Galaxy Wearable.
- Connect the watch through Galaxy Wearable and install its latest software.
- Open Samsung Health Monitor on the watch and follow any prompt to install or update the phone app.
- Check the Galaxy Store for Samsung Health Monitor updates.
- Restart both devices if Blood pressure is still absent.
- Verify the phone, watch, Samsung account region and Android/Wear OS versions.
A manual update or reset cannot guarantee that a phased server-side release will appear immediately.
Set up and calibrate the watch
Calibration creates the reference the watch uses for later estimates. Samsung requires an upper-arm, cuff-based monitor; a wrist cuff is not the specified substitute. The cuff is normally a third-party device sold separately.
Before you start
- Avoid smoking, alcohol, caffeine, exercise and bathing for at least 30 minutes.
- Use a quiet indoor setting; keep the arm and wrist dry and free of lotion or excess sweat.
- Sit with your back supported, legs uncrossed and feet flat on the floor.
- Rest your forearms on a table for at least five minutes.
- Remain still, breathe normally and do not talk during measurements.
Calibration steps
- Pair the watch and phone and open Samsung Health Monitor.
- Select Blood pressure, then Calibrate the watch.
- Place the cuff on one upper arm and wear the watch snugly on the opposite wrist.
- Keep the phone within reach on the table.
- Complete three cuff readings within 30 minutes, entering each result when the app requests it.
Samsung lists a calibration range of 80–170 mmHg systolic and 50–110 mmHg diastolic. Recalibration is required every 28 days, and you can start it sooner in the app. Changing the wrist on which you wear the watch may also require recalibration. Follow Samsung’s complete calibration instructions.

Take a blood-pressure reading
- On the watch, open Samsung Health Monitor.
- Tap Blood pressure.
- Tap Measure, read the prompt and tap OK.
- Stay still with the arm supported until the measurement finishes.
- Review systolic, diastolic and pulse results, then tap Done.
Use the same wrist and similar conditions each time: rest five minutes, wear the watch consistently snug, avoid talking or movement, and observe the 30-minute restrictions on caffeine, alcohol, smoking, exercise and bathing. Results synchronize to the Samsung Health Monitor phone app when the calibrated watch is connected.
Ranges and what they do—and do not—mean
| Item | Samsung-listed range |
|---|---|
| Systolic measurement | 70–180 mmHg |
| Diastolic measurement | 40–120 mmHg |
| Systolic calibration | 80–170 mmHg |
| Diastolic calibration | 50–110 mmHg |
These are operating ranges, not diagnostic thresholds and not a promise of clinical accuracy. Samsung does not position this function as a replacement for an independently operated upper-arm monitor. Movement, an incorrect cuff, poor posture, sweat, lotion, temperature and an improperly fitted strap can make readings inconsistent.

- Rest quietly and repeat the watch reading using the preparation steps.
- Check the result with a properly fitted, validated upper-arm cuff.
- Record repeated readings rather than relying on one isolated watch estimate.
- Contact a healthcare professional if concerning readings persist.
Do not start, stop or change medication based only on the watch. For severe symptoms or a suspected emergency, seek urgent medical help instead of troubleshooting the wearable.

Common problems and fixes
“Blood pressure” is missing
Update the phone, Galaxy Wearable, watch and Galaxy Store app; open Samsung Health Monitor on both devices; restart them; and confirm Android 12, Wear OS 4.0, Samsung-phone, pairing and regional requirements. A phased rollout may still be pending.
The watch is reported as incompatible
Check the exact model and installed software, not just the product family name. A Watch4-or-newer label alone does not override regional or phone restrictions.
Calibration fails
- Use an upper-arm cuff and place it correctly.
- Keep the watch on the opposite wrist, snug but comfortable.
- Rest five minutes and avoid movement or conversation.
- Confirm readings fall within Samsung’s calibration range.
- Finish all three readings inside the 30-minute window.
Readings vary widely
Repeat under controlled conditions and compare with the cuff. Inconsistent posture, wrist position, movement, strap fit, sweat, temperature or recent activity can undermine comparisons.

Is it worth buying a Galaxy Watch for blood pressure?
For an existing compatible Galaxy Watch owner, the feature can make periodic trend checks convenient—provided you already have, or are willing to buy, an upper-arm cuff and recalibrate monthly. It is not a strong standalone reason to buy a smartwatch for medical blood-pressure management.
If dependable home measurement is your primary goal, a dedicated validated upper-arm monitor is the more direct choice. It also avoids Samsung’s ecosystem requirement. Someone using an iPhone or a non-Samsung Android phone should not buy a Galaxy Watch expecting this feature to work.
Samsung says the function was already available in selected international markets before the U.S. release; the U.S. phased rollout began March 31, 2026. Availability therefore varies by country, model, software and account region. Background information appears in Samsung’s medical-device overview.
