The releases are arranged in three design waves: warm gold accents, Seiko Blue, and Edo-purple. The first two waves include King Seiko, Prospex, Presage and Astron models; the Edo-purple wave adds Seiko 5 Sports and a digital design. Model specifications, quantities, prices and launch timing vary by collection and market.
What Seiko is commemorating
Seiko traces its history to 1881, when Kintaro Hattori opened “K. Hattori” in Tokyo’s Ginza district. Seiko says it produced Japan’s first wristwatch in 1913. The 2026 anniversary releases use those milestones as historical context, with colors and design details intended to connect early Seiko watchmaking to current collections.
Release map: three themed waves
| Wave | Announcement | Collections represented | Availability context |

| Edo purple | August 6, 2026 | Prospex, Presage, Seiko 5 Sports, digital design | Announced to start at boutiques and select retailers in October 2026; this was still a future release on September 28, 2026 |
First series: warm gold accents
Seiko’s January announcement connected the gold-colored accents to details associated with Kintaro Hattori’s early watch designs. The four references span distinctly different use cases and movements.

Second series: Seiko Blue
Seiko describes Seiko Blue as a signature color established in the 1960s. The wave includes two materially different Prospex divers, two Presage watches and a Japan-market Astron anniversary edition.
Prospex HBC005: 1965 Heritage Diver’s Watch
HBC005 draws on Seiko’s original 1965 diver design. Its automatic Caliber 6R55 provides a stated 72-hour (three-day) reserve. The stainless-steel case and bracelet have a super-hard coating; the curved sapphire crystal has inner anti-reflective coating; and the crown screws down. Seiko lists 300 m diver’s water resistance, 4,800 A/m magnetic resistance, a 15 mm adjustable-clasp range, a 40.0 mm case diameter and 13.0 mm thickness. The US announcement lists a $1,400 recommended retail price and 4,000 pieces.
Prospex HBB001: sculpted 200 m diver
HBB001 uses a sharply faceted case and a silver-and-blue two-tone aluminum bezel. Its automatic Caliber 4R35 has approximately 41 hours of reserve. The US product details specify a stainless-steel case and bracelet, Hardlex crystal, 41.7 mm diameter, 12.3 mm thickness, 20 mm lug spacing and 200 m diver’s water resistance. Seiko’s May announcement lists a US recommended retail price of $595 and 9,999 pieces.
HBC005 and HBB001 compared
| Comparison point | HBC005 | HBB001 |
|---|---|---|
| Design lineage | 1965 Heritage Diver’s Watch | Sculpted, sharply faceted Prospex diver |
| Movement / reserve | Automatic 6R55 / 72 hours | Automatic 4R35 / about 41 hours |
| Stated water resistance | 300 m diver’s | 200 m diver’s |
| Case diameter / thickness | 40.0 mm / 13.0 mm | 41.7 mm / 12.3 mm |
| Crystal | Curved sapphire with inner anti-reflective coating | Hardlex |
| US recommended price in announcement | $1,400 | $595 |
| Announced limited quantity | 4,000 | 9,999 |
The higher rating, longer reserve and sapphire crystal make HBC005 the more specification-focused choice on paper. HBB001 is a separate design and movement, not a cheaper case variant of HBC005. Water-resistance numbers are product ratings, not instructions to exceed the activities described in Seiko’s manual; follow the manual and care guidance for actual use.

Presage HCC007 and HCC004
HCC007 has a cobalt-blue Arita porcelain dial, while HCC004 uses a silk-inspired textured white dial with Seiko Blue hands and indices. Both use Caliber 6R51 with a 72-hour reserve.
| Reference | Case and resistance | Announced quantity | Europe recommended price |
|---|---|---|---|
| HCC007 | 39.6 mm by 12.8 mm; 3 bar | 1,500 | €1,800 |
| HCC004 | 36.0 mm by 12.5 mm; 10 bar | 2,500 | €1,050 |
Seiko notes that the porcelain production process can create subtle variation from one HCC007 dial to another.
Astron HAB004
The Japan-market HAB004 is a GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph with Caliber 5X63, blue accents and a button-operated Smart Switch strap mechanism. Seiko Japan states 2,000 pieces worldwide, a June 10, 2026 release and a ¥330,000 Japanese recommended price. That Japanese price should not be generalized to other markets.

Announced on August 6, 2026, this series uses Edo-purple accents as a reference to traditions originating in Edo and continuing in modern Tokyo. Seiko announced an October 2026 start at boutiques and select retailers; on September 28, 2026, these were future releases.

Presage HCB006
HCB006 is a Cocktail Time limited edition with a radial purple dial inspired by the “Edo Murasaki” cocktail created with STAR BAR owner Hisashi Kishi. The official product page states a 6,000-piece limit.
Other Edo-purple references
The announcement also describes HDB003, an SKX-based Seiko 5 Sports anniversary model, a Prospex solar chronograph, a purple-accented Alpinist and a digital reinterpretation retaining the rotary switch associated with the “Rotocall.” Regional product pages should be checked for each reference’s final quantity, local price and availability.
How to choose a 145th-anniversary model
- Choose by collection first: King Seiko and Presage emphasize dress-oriented finishing; Prospex focuses on sports and diving; Astron adds GPS or solar technology; Seiko 5 Sports targets the SKX-inspired everyday-sports segment.
- Check dimensions against your wrist: diameter and thickness affect wear more than the anniversary color. HBB001’s official 20 mm lug spacing is useful when assessing straps, but lug width alone does not prove that a third-party strap or end link will fit.
- Use water-resistance wording carefully: “diver’s” ratings on HBC005 and HBB001 are not equivalent to the 3 bar, 5 bar or 10 bar ratings on other models.
- Treat prices as dated regional references: the figures above are recommended prices announced for the named market, not live sale prices. Currency, tax, retailer pricing and later revisions can change the amount.
- Verify stock and exact reference: Seiko directs buyers to its boutiques and select retailers. An announced launch does not prove that an earlier release remains available.
Limited quantity is not an investment forecast
The announced production numbers establish scarcity within each run, but Seiko’s materials provide no independent sales, resale or investment data. A 800-piece King Seiko, a 9,999-piece HBB001 and a 6,000-piece HCB006 should therefore be compared as watches first, not as guaranteed appreciating assets.
