It revisits the same historic design family as the 2017 SLA017, but it is a distinct, later edition: the SJE093 uses caliber 6L37, has a smaller and thinner case by Seiko’s published figures, and is limited to 1,965 pieces.
What is the Seiko SJE093?
Seiko introduced the SJE093 in 2023 as its 1965 Diver’s Re-creation Limited Edition. Seiko’s official store calls the original the “62MAS,” a name familiar among fans, and describes the new watch as a re-creation with dimensions virtually identical to the original while incorporating current specifications. The edition is limited to 1,965 pieces. Seiko Philippines Official Store
The SJE093 is an automatic mechanical diver with manual winding, caliber 6L37, and a stated 200 m / 660 ft diver’s water-resistance rating. Seiko Philippines lists a 38.0 mm case diameter, 12.5 mm thickness, 46.7 mm lug-to-lug length, and 19 mm distance between the lugs. These are the manufacturer’s published specifications, not independent measurements or results from a dive test.
Published SJE093 specifications
- Movement: automatic caliber 6L37 with manual winding; quoted accuracy of +15 to −10 seconds per day, approximately 45 hours of power reserve, and 26 jewels.
- Case: 38.0 mm diameter, 12.5 mm thick, 46.7 mm lug-to-lug; screw-down crown and screw case back.
- Crystal and illumination: box-shaped sapphire crystal with inner anti-reflective coating; LumiBrite on the hands, indices, and bezel.
- Other details: unidirectional rotating bezel and silicone band; 19 mm lug spacing.
- Water resistance: 200 m / 660 ft diver’s water resistance, as stated by Seiko Philippines Official Store.
How does it connect to Seiko’s 1965 diver?
Seiko says its first diver’s watch was made in 1965. The company describes that original as a self-winding watch water-resistant to 150 m, and says members of the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition used it from 1966 to 1969. Those historical details are Seiko’s account, published in its 23 March 2017 press release.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The SJE093 carries that origin story forward as a limited re-creation rather than simply sharing a name with the original. Its stated water resistance is 200 m, compared with the original’s 150 m rating as reported by Seiko. The SJE093’s case dimensions and modern components likewise belong to the 2023 watch, not the 1965 model.
How is the SJE093 different from the 2017 SLA017?
The 2017 SLA017 was an earlier limited re-creation of the 1965 classic, introduced in Seiko’s Prospex collection. It is not the SJE093, and the 2017 release also discussed the SPB051 and SPB053 as contemporary reinterpretations—separate watches from the limited SLA017 and the later SJE093. Seiko’s 2017 announcement specified a 2,000-piece SLA017 edition powered by caliber 8L35. Seiko Watch Corporation, 2017

On these published figures, the SJE093 is 1.9 mm smaller in diameter and 1.6 mm thinner than the SLA017, while both are rated to 200 m. That comparison does not establish which wears more comfortably or performs better in practice; the available figures are specifications, not comparative testing.
Seiko’s 2017 release also lists a sapphire crystal for the SLA017. The SJE093 store listing specifies a box-shaped sapphire crystal with an inner anti-reflective coating. The 2017 release covered additional specifications, but those figures are not needed to distinguish the watches’ core relationship.

Is the SJE093 the 62MAS re-creation?
Yes. Seiko’s official store identifies the SJE093 as a re-creation of the 1965 watch and notes that fans know the original as the 62MAS. The SLA017 is also a separate re-creation of that 1965 classic, released six years earlier. “62MAS” refers to the original model’s familiar name, not to a third watch in this comparison.

The Seiko Philippines Official Store listing marks the SJE093 as sold out. That status applies to the cited regional listing; it does not establish worldwide availability or unavailability. For a replacement strap, the listing gives a 19 mm lug spacing and identifies the supplied band as silicone. Check the strap’s end shape and attachment compatibility before buying: the width alone does not confirm that a particular strap will fit.
