All three share the 6R54 automatic GMT caliber, a stated 72-hour power reserve, 42.0 mm cases and 200 m diver’s water resistance. The SPB385 is the 4,000-piece Save the Ocean limited edition, with a glacier-inspired dial and an extra strap made from recycled plastic bottles.
What Seiko announced
Seiko described the series as its first use of a mechanical GMT movement in a Prospex diver’s watch. The March 8, 2023 announcement introduced the watches as part of the 1968 Heritage Diver’s GMT line. Seiko’s feature page explains the design connection and the GMT function.
The three references share their core specifications and case-and-bracelet design. Their principal differences are dial color and whether the watch is a limited edition with an additional strap.

Shared movement and GMT operation
Caliber 6R54
Each reference uses Seiko’s automatic 6R54 movement. Seiko lists a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, 24 jewels and a 72-hour power reserve. In its announcement, Seiko called the extended reserve “a full 72 hours.” The company’s product feature page describes this as three full days when the watch is fully wound.
Independent 24-hour hand
The GMT hand is independently adjustable in one-hour increments, allowing the wearer to set a second time zone without interrupting the time-of-day hands, according to Seiko. This is a mechanical GMT arrangement: the added hand indicates time on a 24-hour scale, while the conventional hands continue to show local time.

Case, bezel and published specifications
Seiko specifies a 42.0 mm case diameter, 12.9 mm thickness and 200 m diver’s water resistance for all three watches. The shared listed construction and features include:
- Stainless-steel case and bracelet with super-hard coating
- Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating
- Screw-down crown and screw caseback
- Unidirectional bezel with a scratch-resistant ceramic insert
- Lumibrite on the hands and indexes
- Magnetic resistance of 4,800 A/m
These are published specifications, not comparative wear or dive-test results. The dimensions and water-resistance rating do not establish how a particular wearer will find the watches on the wrist or how any individual example performs in use.

Launch timing and present-day availability
Seiko’s announcement said select retail availability nationwide would begin in June/July 2023. That is historical launch timing, not confirmation that a model is currently in production, in stock or available at the original price. Current production status and stock are not established here; check an authorized retailer or seller for present-day availability and regional specifications.

The SPB381 and SPB383 share the standard configuration, so the choice between them is chiefly the green or black dial. The SPB385 adds a specific limited-edition distinction: its ice-blue glacier-inspired dial, 4,000-piece limit and included braided recycled-polyester strap. Their shared movement and published dimensions mean the announcement does not establish a technical advantage for one colorway over another.
