What is the Seiko SPB077?
The SPB077 is the black-bezel, steel-bracelet version in Seiko’s 1968 Automatic Diver’s Modern Re-interpretation line. Watch reviewers connect its design to the 1968 Seiko reference 6159, while the SPB077 updates that heritage styling with a contemporary case and dial. It is not the blue-and-silicone version: that sibling is the SPB079.
The result is a recognizably vintage-inspired diver rather than a small reproduction of the original. Monochrome praised the execution and finishing in its 2018 review, while Hodinkee described the 44 mm case as substantial and noted that the distinctive handset may not appeal to everyone. Those are reviewer impressions, not performance tests.

How does the SPB077 wear?
At 44 mm across and 184 g as listed by Seiko Philippines, this is not a discreet or lightweight diver. The launch-era reviews report 51 mm lug-to-lug, a measurement that makes wrist fit especially worth checking; however, Seiko’s current Philippines product page gives a much shorter 46.6 mm figure, while its UK page agrees with the reviews at 51.0 mm. The discrepancy is unresolved in the official listings.

If possible, try the exact regional reference on your wrist or confirm its dimensions with the seller before buying. A 44 mm diameter alone does not determine comfort: lug length, bracelet articulation and how the case sits on your wrist all matter. The steel bracelet’s extender is useful for adjustment, but does not make a large case compact.

How much does the SPB077 cost?
Prices depend on region and date. When accessed on October 4, 2026, Seiko’s UK product page displayed GBP 999. Seiko Philippines listed ₱65,779 and marked the watch “Sold Out” on that date. These are regional page observations, not a worldwide price comparison or confirmation of current stock; availability and listed prices can change.

Is the Seiko SPB077 a good dive watch?
Its published specification is compelling for someone who wants a mechanical diver: 200m diver’s water resistance, a unidirectional bezel, screw-down crown and case back, sapphire crystal, and a movement with manual winding and stop seconds. The steel bracelet and black-bezel styling give it a versatile look, while the 6R15’s approximately 50-hour reserve is a practical specification for an automatic watch. These specifications do not substitute for a hands-on fit check, and this review does not claim independent testing.
The strongest reason to hesitate is its footprint. The 44 mm case and conflicting lug-to-lug listings make a try-on particularly valuable if you prefer compact watches or have a smaller wrist. The handset is another matter of taste: Hodinkee found its distinctive design potentially divisive, even as Monochrome praised the watch’s execution.
