Yes, the $149.95 price was genuine—but it was a historical Amazon US promotion published on March 27, 2025, not a live deal. The OpenRun Pro 2 normally listed at $179.95, making the offer a $30 (about 16.7%) reduction. SHOKZ’s product page was back at $179.95 in the latest verified check on August 18, 2026, while later promotions reportedly went lower. At $149.95, it was a good buy for runners and cyclists who wanted open-ear awareness, but not an unbeatable all-time price.
What the $149.95 deal actually was
Phandroid reported the offer on March 27, 2025, during Amazon’s Big Spring Sale. The Amazon US price fell from $179.95 to $149.95, a $30 saving. Contemporary deal coverage reported the same price for both Standard and Mini sizes. The promotion has expired; an old “now $149.95” headline should not be treated as a current checkout price.
Check the seller, fulfillment method, size, color, return terms and warranty eligibility on any marketplace listing. Retail prices and stock can change independently, and a third-party Amazon listing is not automatically an Amazon- or SHOKZ-backed purchase.

What the OpenRun Pro 2 is
The OpenRun Pro 2 is SHOKZ’s premium sports headset, built around an open-ear, behind-the-head frame. Its DualPitch system combines 10th-generation bone-conduction drivers for midrange and treble with an air-conduction bass driver measuring 18 × 11 mm. The ears remain uncovered, so the design is intended to let you hear traffic, riding partners, gym announcements and other surroundings while listening.

Why runners and cyclists may like it
The main benefit is awareness rather than isolation. Open ears make it easier to hear approaching vehicles, bicycles, conversation and public-address announcements than with sealed earbuds. The secure sports frame is also less likely to fall out during a run than a loose conventional earbud. Independent hands-on coverage has rated it highly for running, while noting that the premium price can be a drawback.
That awareness is not a safety guarantee. Keep volume at a level that allows you to monitor your surroundings and follow local traffic and cycling rules.

Where the design falls short
Sound and isolation
The air-conduction bass driver is intended to add low-end weight that traditional bone-conduction designs often lack, but an open-ear headset cannot create the same deep, sealed bass or private listening experience as in-ear headphones. There is effectively no conventional passive isolation, so trains, airplanes, loud gyms and busy roads can overpower music.
Sound leakage
People nearby may hear your audio, particularly at higher volume. Choose sealed earbuds or over-ear headphones for offices, libraries and other places where privacy matters.

Water limits
IP55 covers sweat and limited splashes. It does not mean waterproof: do not swim, shower with or submerge the OpenRun Pro 2. SHOKZ’s OpenSwim Pro is the swimming-oriented model.
Fit and sizing
SHOKZ recommends Standard for a head measurement above 9.25 inches (23.5 cm) and Mini below that threshold. Measure around the back of your head from ear to ear as directed by SHOKZ, rather than choosing solely by general body size. Glasses, head shape and sensitivity around the ears can affect comfort, so a clear return policy matters.

Was $149.95 a good price?
Yes, for the product’s intended buyer. It was a substantial first major Amazon discount from the $179.95 list price, but later 2026 reports cited prices of $139.95, $124.95 and $119.95. That means $149.95 was good, not a proven lowest-ever price.
| Live price context | How to view it |
|---|---|
| $179.95 | Pay mainly if you specifically want the Pro 2’s hybrid audio, longer battery and open-ear sports fit. |
| $149.95 | Reasonable for runners and cyclists who value awareness and stability. |
| $125 or less | Notably stronger value based on later reported promotions. |
| About $120 | Near the better end of reported 2026 pricing, subject to seller and stock checks. |

Buying checklist
- Confirm the current checkout price; do not rely on the expired March 2025 headline.
- Select Standard or Mini using SHOKZ’s 9.25-inch (23.5-cm) measurement guidance.
- Verify seller identity, fulfillment, color, stock, shipping and return terms.
- Confirm warranty eligibility, especially for marketplace or unauthorized sellers.
- Remember that IP55 is for sweat and splashes, not swimming or submersion.
The Bottom Line
At $149.95, the OpenRun Pro 2 was a worthwhile March 2025 deal for outdoor users who wanted SHOKZ’s premium open-ear sports design. It was not the right choice for noise cancellation, private listening, swimming or the lowest possible price, and later promotions were cheaper.
