The Studio Underd0g 01SERIES Gen3 has the ingredients of a distinctive mechanical chronograph: a colorful two-layer dial, a hand-wound movement and a compact 38.5 mm case. But the available evidence does not establish a week of personal wear, so this is a specifications-led review—not a first-hand wrist test. The published details make a strong case for its design; comfort, real-world accuracy and long-term durability still need to be judged in person.
What the 01SERIES Gen3 is
Studio Underd0g describes the 01SERIES as a mid-century racing-dial design reworked in vivid colors. The Gen3 collection comprises four manual-wind chronographs: Watermel0n, Desert Sky, Go0fy Panda and Mint Ch0c Chip. The collection page lists each as a 38.5 mm Gen3 model. The collection’s appeal is immediately legible in its concept: a familiar chronograph format, given a playful visual identity rather than a conservative instrument-watch look. That is a design proposition, not proof that every variant is equally easy to read or that the watch suits every wrist.
Case dimensions and what they do—and don’t—tell you about fit
The official Watermel0n Gen3 specification gives a 38.5 mm diameter, 12.9 mm thickness and 44.5 mm lug-to-lug measurement. The case is three-part 316L stainless steel, with sapphire crystals and a stated 5 ATM water-resistance rating. These dimensions offer a more useful starting point than diameter alone: the short stated lug-to-lug measurement may help the watch sit within the wrist, while the thickness may be noticeable beneath a close-fitting cuff. Neither predicts fit with certainty; wrist shape and strap adjustment matter too.

No verified wrist-size or wear observations establish how the watch feels during desk work, beneath sleeves or over a full day. If fit is a deciding factor, try it on or compare its dimensions with a watch you already own that wears comfortably.
Dial, functions and legibility
The Watermel0n dial uses two layers: a satin-sandblasted base and a coarse dégradé top. The specification also lists C3 Super-LumiNova. Hours, minutes, seconds, chronograph and tachymeter are the stated functions. Studio Underd0g’s Watermel0n Gen3 page gives the construction and feature details.
Those elements support the watch’s visual character, but they do not establish how quickly the hands and chronograph scales can be read in different lighting. The available information also does not identify a legibility winner among the four colorways. That remains a hands-on question, particularly for anyone who wants a chronograph primarily as a quick-reading tool.

Movement: published figures, not measured results
The ST-1901B is a hand-wound calibre that Studio Underd0g describes as exclusive to the brand and developed with Seagull. The maker lists a black main plate and silver swan-neck regulator. Its published power-reserve and regulation figures are:

These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of an individual watch. No verified timing test establishes the rate of a particular example, and no first-hand winding or chronograph-reset observations are available here. A buyer who prioritizes measured accuracy should ask the seller about the specific watch and its regulation rather than treating the stated target as a guaranteed daily result.
Strap and sizing
The supplied strap is Italian Epsom leather made by The Strap Tailor. It is 20 mm wide at the lugs, tapers to 16 mm, and has quick-release spring bars. Studio Underd0g’s sizing guidance lists small at 110/65 mm for wrists down to 5¼ inches, standard at 120/70 mm and best for 6 to 7¾ inches, and large at 135/80 mm for wrists up to 8½ inches. These are the maker’s strap-fit guidelines, not a guarantee that a particular wrist will find the watch comfortable.

The 20 mm lug width also means a compatible 20mm quick release watch strap is a plausible replacement option. Third-party strap fit, spring-bar compatibility, materials and quality vary; no particular listing or retailer availability is established here.
Water resistance and everyday use
The stated rating is 5 ATM. Treat that as the manufacturer’s specification, not a blanket assurance that the watch is suitable for every water activity. The available product information does not provide activity-specific use guidance, so consult Studio Underd0g or the seller before exposing it to water beyond ordinary day-to-day contact.

Fratello reported launch pricing of £550, €590 and US$650 in its 2024 coverage. Those are historical launch prices, not a current universal price list. Fratello’s Gen3 launch coverage also reported that the case was slimmed by 0.7 mm from Gen2 and that a two-year limited warranty was offered in partnership with Horologium at launch. Confirm current warranty terms with the seller.
At £600 in the cited UK listings, the value question is less about a proven performance advantage—the sources establish no independent comparison—and more about whether the buyer wants this specific design, a hand-wound chronograph and the stated materials and construction. Someone choosing primarily on measured timekeeping, comfort or water-use needs will need evidence beyond the published specifications.

Studio Underd0g says each watch is assembled fully in-house in Great Britain, from start to finish by one pair of hands, with the assembler’s initials on the accompanying paperwork. That is the brand’s account of its production process, not independent verification. The manufacturer provides the assembly and movement statements on its product page.

Country Life reported in 2026 that Studio Underd0g had sold more than 30,000 watches. That figure is secondary reporting, not an audited company disclosure. It offers context about the brand’s reach, but does not demonstrate the quality or reliability of an individual watch. Country Life’s report attributes the figure to its coverage of founder Richard Benc and the brand.
Verdict: distinctive on paper, with key questions for an in-person check
The 01SERIES Gen3 has a coherent identity: compact stated dimensions, colorful layered dials and a manual chronograph movement with clearly published specifications. Those features explain the enthusiasm without proving that the watch is comfortable, accurate to its stated target in daily use, or worth its price for every buyer. Because a genuine week-long wear test is not established here, the fairest verdict is that the design is more than a generic specification sheet—but whether the hype holds up on your wrist depends on trying it, checking its legibility and confirming current terms with the seller.
