The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Seafarer x Hodinkee is the 2024 limited edition, reference CBS2014.FT6293. Its tide indicator is set manually with the pusher on the left side of the case and aligned against local tide tables; it is not a live, location-aware forecast. The watch combines that complication with a chronograph in a 42 mm Carrera Glassbox design inspired by the 1968 Heuer Seafarer.
Which Carrera Seafarer is the Hodinkee edition?
The name refers here to the 2024 collaboration, not the later standard-production Seafarer. TAG Heuer’s brochure identifies the Hodinkee watch as reference CBS2014.FT6293. TAG Heuer’s official brochure lists its principal specifications, while Hodinkee’s product page describes its functions, measurements and launch edition.
How does the tide indicator work?
Setting the tide complication
The tide subdial sits at 9 o’clock. To set it, use the TIDE pusher on the left side of the case to adjust the indicator until it corresponds with local tide-table information. The watch’s scale then serves as a quick wrist reference to the approximate daily tidal pattern.
The watch does not independently determine your location, retrieve current tide data or produce a live forecast. Its indication is useful only when set against a tide table for the relevant location and kept aligned as needed. Because tides vary by place and conditions, consult current local tide information when planning activities near the water.

What the other chronograph displays do
The chronograph measures elapsed time separately from the tide display. Its 30-minute counter is at 3 o’clock, and the running-seconds display completes the trio of sub-registers. The chronograph can time events such as a regatta; it does not alter or calculate the tide indication.
What are the 2024 edition’s design and specifications?
The design pairs a black opaline dial with blue, silver and white accents, drawing on late vintage Seafarer styling. The date window found on some Carrera chronographs is omitted, leaving the tide display, 30-minute counter and running seconds as the three registers.

Hodinkee describes the TH20-13 as an evolution of the Heuer 02, with a column-wheel and vertical-clutch chronograph, bidirectional automatic winding and an 80-hour power reserve. Water resistance is a case specification, not a substitute for checking the watch’s condition before swimming or other water use.
What is the Seafarer connection?
The tide-watch story began in the late 1940s. TAG Heuer recounts that Walter Haynes of Abercrombie & Fitch asked Heuer to develop a tide watch based on his patent. Jack Heuer later recalled working on the project as a teenager with help from his physics teacher, Dr. Heinz Schilt; the brand says that work improved the Solunar tide indicator. The Mareographe/Seafarer arrived around 1950, bringing tide indication and chronograph functions together.

The Hodinkee collaboration looks specifically to the 1968 Heuer Seafarer Ref. 2446C. That watch used an Autavia-style case and was sold through Abercrombie & Fitch, according to Hodinkee’s account. The 2024 model translates vintage color coding and bezel cues into the contemporary Carrera Glassbox case rather than reproducing the old case shape. How limited was the 2024 release?
Hodinkee announced a run of 968 pieces in 2024. Its release plan designated the first 125 numbered watches for the Hodinkee Shop, with the remainder intended for TAG Heuer boutiques and retailers worldwide. Those are launch-era allocation details; they do not establish present-day stock, resale value or a current price.

How is it different from the later standard-production Seafarer?
In January 2026, Hodinkee reported a non-limited Carrera Chronograph Seafarer with its own specification and dial layout. The comparison below keeps those details separate from the Hodinkee collaboration.

Hodinkee’s January 2026 article reported a $8,800 price for the newer model at publication. That is not a current quote and does not establish the price of a 2024 Hodinkee edition.
