TAG Heuer’s Formula 1 Solargraph reworks the colorful spirit of its 1986 Formula 1 Series 1 in a 38mm light-powered quartz watch. The nine-model launch collection combines the TH50-00 Solar Quartz movement, a bidirectional timing bezel and 100m water resistance, with different case finishes, dials and straps or bracelets. The key differences are the exact reference and its materials and wearing configuration; launch-era limited-edition status does not establish current availability.
What is the Formula 1 Solargraph?
It is a modern Formula 1 collection built around a solar-recharged quartz movement. TAG Heuer dates the original Formula 1 Series 1 to 1986 and describes the Solargraph as a return to that collection’s vivid, playful character. The brand’s magazine calls the original “a beacon of vibrancy in a sea of monotony” and says it sold more than three million pieces; that sales figure is TAG Heuer’s own historical claim, not an independently confirmed count. TAG Heuer Official Magazine
TAG Heuer’s 2025 launch brochure introduced nine distinct models. They share the collection’s 38mm format and solar-quartz concept, but vary in finish, color and strap or bracelet. The watch has a date display and bidirectional timing bezel; it is not described as a chronograph. TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph brochure
How the solar movement works
TH50-00 Solar Quartz
The collection uses TAG Heuer calibre TH50-00, which the brand says recharges from natural or artificial light. The brochure claims that less than 40 hours of sun can fully charge the watch and that a full charge can provide up to 10 months of operation without light. It also gives a 15-year battery lifespan. These are manufacturer claims, not independently tested results. TAG Heuer brochure

Treat those as separate manufacturer statements rather than a guaranteed charging time for every lighting condition. TAG Heuer US product page
Specifications and design
The brochure lists 38mm diameter and 100m water resistance for the collection, along with sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment and applied luminous indexes. Fratello’s launch overview reports 45.2mm lug-to-lug and 9.9mm thickness; TAG Heuer’s current US page confirms 9.9mm thickness and gives an 18.5mm lug distance for reference WBY1111.BA0042. Lug distance is the width between the lugs, not the watch’s lug-to-lug length; dimensions may vary by reference. Fratello launch overview TAG Heuer US product page

The collection includes sandblasted steel, black DLC-treated steel and colorful polymer configurations. TAG Heuer’s brochure calls the latter material TH-Polylight; Fratello describes bio-polyamide in its launch report. Those are the respective sources’ terms, and should not be assumed to be interchangeable. Strap and bracelet configurations also vary by reference. TAG Heuer brochure Fratello launch overview
Example: WBY1111.BA0042
This steel-bracelet version has a sandblasted steel case, white opalin dial, red flange and black bidirectional TH-Polylight bezel. Its bracelet is three-row sandblasted steel. TAG Heuer’s US product page lists a 38mm case, 9.9mm thickness and 18.5mm lug distance for this reference. The word “white” is the official dial description; photographs and lighting can make a white opalin surface appear warmer or cooler. TAG Heuer US product page

How the nine launch models differ
The most useful comparison is by reference, not simply by collection name. Check the case and bezel treatment, dial color, bracelet or strap, and whether the model was designated a limited edition at launch.
| Comparison point | What varies across the collection |
|---|---|
| Case and bezel | Sandblasted steel, black DLC-treated steel or colored polymer/TH-Polylight configuration, depending on reference. TAG Heuer brochure |
| Dial and accents | White or opaline, blue and black dials with contrasting accents across the listed variants. TAG Heuer brochure |
| Wearing configuration | Steel bracelet, embossed rubber or racing-rubber strap, depending on reference. TAG Heuer brochure |
| Launch category | Fratello reported three regular-production models and six limited editions associated with Grand Prix events. This is launch classification, not a statement of present stock. Fratello launch overview |
The brochure establishes the nine-model lineup, while the launch report supplies the regular-production and limited-edition split. Neither old launch information nor an individual product page establishes whether every reference is currently available. Confirm the exact reference and current status with the seller before buying.

Prices and availability
Prices depend on market and date. Fratello’s April 1, 2025 launch report listed launch-era prices of €1,750 for strap versions and €1,850 for bracelet versions. These are historical euro launch prices, not current global prices. Fratello launch overview
When checked on September 28, 2026, TAG Heuer’s official US page for WBY1111.BA0042 displayed $2,050, while its UK page displayed £1,750. These are separate regional listings for the same reference, not an exchange-rate comparison or a price survey; listed prices and stock can change. TAG Heuer US product page TAG Heuer UK product page

What to check before choosing one
- Compare full reference numbers: similar collection names can conceal different materials, colors and configurations.
- Confirm whether the watch comes on a steel bracelet or a rubber strap, and check the precise strap style.
- Use the listing for the market where you plan to buy; do not convert an old launch price into a current price expectation.
- For a limited-edition reference, distinguish its launch designation from current retailer availability.
- If shopping for a replacement strap or bracelet, verify compatibility against the exact reference and attachment dimensions before ordering.
