Its specifications and design can be verified from the maker, but no physical inspection or timing test is represented here. Check the reference before applying these details to another Monaco Gulf edition.
Which Monaco Chronograph × Gulf is this?
This article concerns the steel CBL2115.FC6494, which TAG Heuer names the Monaco Chronograph x Gulf Automatic. The maker’s UK page lists a blue sunray-brushed dial with slim Gulf stripes and the Gulf logo at 6 o’clock, plus a vintage TAG Heuer logo at 12. The configuration includes luminous hands and applied indexes, a domed bevelled sapphire crystal, a clear sapphire caseback, a blue perforated calfskin strap and a steel folding clasp with double safety push buttons. TAG Heuer’s product page is the source for these details.
“Monaco × Gulf” also describes other watches, so the name alone is not enough to identify this specification. In particular, do not confuse this steel TH20-00 model with the titanium Calibre 11 edition or an earlier steel Calibre 11 reference.
Movement, functions and dimensions
TAG Heuer lists the CBL2115.FC6494 with its in-house TH20-00 automatic movement, an 80-hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). The manufacturer describes TH20-00 as an evolution of Heuer 02, with a column wheel, vertical clutch and bi-directional winding. Those are maker-stated technical characteristics, not independent performance-test results.

| Specification | TAG Heuer listing |
|---|---|
| Case | 39 mm steel; 13.8 mm thick; 22 mm lug distance |
| Movement | Automatic TH20-00; 80-hour power reserve; 28,800 vph (4 Hz) |
| Functions | Hours, minutes, seconds, chronograph with quarter-second indication, 30-minute and 12-hour counters, and date |
| Water resistance | 100 m, as rated by TAG Heuer |
The 39 mm diameter is only one part of fit: the listed 13.8 mm thickness and square case shape also matter when judging how a watch may sit under a cuff or feel on a wrist. Specifications alone cannot establish comfort, legibility in use, clasp feel or chronograph operation.
What the 100 m rating tells you
TAG Heuer rates this model to 100 m water resistance. That is the manufacturer’s rating; this article does not report a water test. The number should not be read as a tested guarantee for a particular activity or for a watch whose condition, seals or service history are unknown. For use involving water, confirm the maker’s guidance and the individual watch’s condition with TAG Heuer or an authorized service provider.

How the steel and titanium Gulf editions differ
These references share the Monaco Gulf theme but differ in movement, materials and dial-and-strap configuration. The following specifications, prices and availability are from TAG Heuer’s UK-facing pages accessed on 4 October 2026; price and stock can change and may differ elsewhere.
| Reference | Case and movement | Dial and strap | UK page status |
|---|---|---|---|
| CBL2115.FC6494 | 39 mm steel; TH20-00; 80-hour reserve; 13.8 mm thick | Blue Gulf-striped dial; blue perforated calfskin strap | £7,150 listed; store-availability check offered (TAG Heuer) |
| CAW218G.EB0393 | 39 mm sandblasted titanium; Calibre 11; 40-hour reserve; 15 mm thick | Silver-grained dial with Gulf stripes; white perforated fabric strap | £8,350 listed; out of stock online (TAG Heuer) |
| CAW211R.FC6401 | 39 mm steel; Calibre 11; 40-hour reserve; 15 mm thick | Blue-and-orange dial; blue perforated leather strap | Marked discontinued (TAG Heuer) |
The 971-piece quantity TAG Heuer associates with the titanium CAW218G.EB0393 is not the production quantity for CBL2115.FC6494. TAG Heuer says the titanium edition’s number nods to the 1971 release of Le Mans; its collection page also presents that titanium model with Calibre 11. The distinction matters because the steel CBL2115.FC6494 product page specifies TH20-00, not Calibre 11. See the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph collection page.

What the Gulf and Monaco heritage means
TAG Heuer dates the Monaco to 1969 and presents the square case, blue dial and left-side crown as defining design cues. The brand’s account says Steve McQueen chose the Monaco for the 1971 film Le Mans, and connects the Gulf edition’s stripes and logo to the Gulf-emblazoned racing suit associated with him. That is the manufacturer’s heritage and design narrative, rather than an independently established archival finding. Its collection-page wording—“Chosen by Steve McQueen for its avant-garde spirit in the 1971 movie Le Mans”—is TAG Heuer copy, not a quotation from McQueen.
