The Earthen Company Summit is a compact collection of ceramic-cased automatic watches inspired by skiing and field-watch design. The phrase “accessible ceramic” refers to price positioning, not disability-access features: the current Earthen storefront lists selected Summit MK II models at USD 899. That current lineup is not identical to the original 2025 launch trio, so launch specifications should not automatically be applied to every MK II variant.
What is the Earthen Company Summit?
Hong Kong-based Earthen Company introduced the Summit Collection in 2025 as a group of alpine-inspired field watches. Co-founder Johnathan Chan told Time+Tide, “We wanted to create the ultimate ski watch – one that’s water-resistant, legible, and built to last.” That describes the design goal, not independent proof of performance in every ski or water-sport condition.
The collection’s ceramic cases are a defining feature. Chan also told Time+Tide that ceramic lets the company explore colors and surface finishes while retaining vintage-inspired proportions. Ceramic may appeal to buyers looking for a material and finish distinct from conventional steel, but the watch’s fit, dial contrast, movement, and current specifications matter just as much when choosing a model.
How the original Overcast, Whiteout, and Blue Bird differ
The 2025 launch consisted of three named variants. Their principal distinction was visual: case color, dial treatment, and how prominently the dial uses lume. The comparison below describes the original trio, not necessarily every later Summit MK II specification.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Original model | Case and dial | Design distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Overcast | Black ceramic case; matte black dial with contrasting numerals and lume | The darkest, most restrained field-watch look. |
| Whiteout | White ceramic case; black dial | A high-contrast black-and-white combination. |
| Blue Bird | White ceramic case; full-lume white dial with blue accents | The most lume-forward appearance and the clearest after-dark differentiator of the original trio. |
Blue Bird’s full-lume treatment is the obvious choice if you want a dial that stands out in low light, while Whiteout emphasizes contrast and Overcast keeps the palette subdued. Those are visual distinctions, not a guarantee that one dial will be easiest for every wearer to read: personal vision, lighting, and preference all affect legibility.
What the 2025 launch specifications say
Launch coverage from Monochrome Watches and Time+Tide describes the original watches as 38 mm across and about 10 mm thick. Monochrome gives a 10 mm height; Time+Tide reports 9.9 mm. Both report a sapphire crystal, an oversized crown, two supplied straps, and a Miyota 9039 automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve. Time+Tide reports 100 metres of water resistance and a steel crown and caseback; Monochrome describes a solid caseback.

Monochrome’s launch report further lists the Miyota 9039 as a no-date movement with 24 jewels, a 28,800-vph (4 Hz) frequency, hacking seconds, and a rated accuracy of -10/+30 seconds per day. That accuracy figure is the movement specification reported by the publication, not a measurement of an individual Summit watch. The original watches’ no-date layout keeps the dial free of a date window.
- Case size: 38 mm diameter; about 10 mm thick in 2025 launch reporting.
- Crystal: Sapphire, according to both launch articles.
- Movement: Miyota 9039 automatic, with a 42-hour reserve reported for the original models.
- Water resistance: 100 metres, as reported by Time+Tide for the original launch collection.
- Straps: Monochrome describes interchangeable sailcloth-rubber and NATO options; both launch articles report two straps supplied per watch.
These are launch-era details from August 2025. The current storefront calls some watches Summit MK II and lists a different third model name, so check the exact product page for the variant you are considering rather than assuming every original specification carried forward.

Is the Summit a good ski watch?
The design brief is explicitly ski-inspired, and the oversized crown was intended to be easier to handle with gloves. That is a practical feature to consider if you expect to adjust the watch while wearing winter gloves. The 100-metre water-resistance figure reported for the original trio may also be relevant to everyday exposure to water, but it should not be treated as a guarantee of suitability for every water sport or as a substitute for checking the current model’s stated rating and care guidance.
For skiing, think about the specific conditions in which you would wear it: whether the crown is manageable with your gloves, whether you prefer the stronger contrast of Whiteout or the darker Overcast, and whether Blue Bird’s full-lume dial suits your visibility preferences. The available coverage supports an alpine design intention; it does not establish that the Summit has been tested against a particular ski-watch standard or in a specific set of mountain conditions.

Current Summit MK II models and price
At the time the Earthen Company storefront was checked on 4 October 2026, it displayed the Summit MK II Dawn Til Dusk, Blue Bird, and Whiteout at USD 899. The homepage showed Blue Bird and Whiteout as in stock and shipping now; stock can change, and availability may differ by market. Dawn Til Dusk appears in the current lineup, whereas the original 2025 trio included Overcast. Do not assume that Dawn Til Dusk is simply a renamed Overcast or that its specifications are identical.
The USD 899 figure is the current storefront price observed on that date, not a guarantee of the checkout total. Taxes, international duties, shipping eligibility, stock, and return conditions can depend on destination and current terms. Earthen’s homepage advertises a 12-month international warranty, free shipping over USD 500, and free exchanges and returns; review the current terms and the applicable product and destination details before relying on those offers. The 2025 launch price was also reported as USD 899 excluding VAT by Monochrome, a separate launch-era figure.

What to check before choosing one
- Confirm the exact version: Make sure the product page identifies the model as the Summit MK II or an original launch variant, and use that page’s specifications.
- Consider size and crown handling: The original watches were reported at 38 mm by about 10 mm, with an oversized crown designed with glove use in mind. Try to assess both against your wrist and typical gloves.
- Choose a dial for your preferences: Compare the dark Overcast, high-contrast Whiteout, and full-lume Blue Bird treatments rather than assuming a single option is universally most legible.
- Check practical specifications: Verify the selected model’s water resistance, crystal, movement, strap contents, and no-date layout on its current listing.
- Review the delivered cost and policies: Check taxes, duties, shipping, warranty, and return terms for your location before ordering.
