It is not one single watch, however: Rolex offers olive-green sunray dials in different metals and bezel treatments, while its 2026 bright-green aventurine model is a separate stone-dial design.
What is the green Rolex Day-Date 40?
The Day-Date debuted in 1956 as the first calendar wristwatch to spell out the day of the week in full. Today’s Day-Date 40 keeps that defining display at 12 o’clock and pairs it with a 40 mm precious-metal Oyster case and a President bracelet.
Every configuration discussed here uses Rolex calibre 3255, a self-winding mechanical movement developed and manufactured by Rolex. Rolex documents approximately 70 hours of power reserve for the cited olive-green configurations. The movement is certified as a Superlative Chronometer after casing, and Rolex pairs that status with a five-year international guarantee.

Olive-green sunray versus bright green aventurine
Established olive-green treatment
The olive-green references use a sunray-style dial treatment that changes character with the light. The color reads restrained in low light and becomes more reflective as the dial catches an angle, keeping the watch recognizable as a traditional Day-Date while adding a less conventional hue.
2026 aventurine model
Rolex’s 2026 release uses bright green aventurine, a natural stone in the quartz family, rather than the established olive-green sunray dial. Its hour circle contains ten baguette-cut diamonds and its bezel is fluted. It should therefore be treated as a separate green-dial model, not as another name for the olive-green references.

Everose gold or platinum: what changes?
18 ct Everose gold
Everose versions such as 228345RBR and 228235-0025 use Rolex’s 18 ct rose-gold alloy. The warm case and bracelet tone reinforces the green dial’s contrast and gives the watch a more visibly colored precious-metal presence.
Platinum
Reference 228396TBR uses platinum, a cooler-toned precious metal, with a diamond-set bezel. Against the olive dial, the metal supplies a brighter, more neutral frame than Everose gold. Its Malaysia-listed price is RM526,500, which cannot be directly converted into the Everose page’s displayed US-dollar figure without introducing exchange-rate and tax assumptions.

The bracelet that defines the model
Rolex created the President bracelet for the Day-Date’s 1956 launch. Rolex says it remains reserved for the Day-Date and precious-metal Datejust versions, making the bracelet part of the model’s identity rather than an interchangeable styling option.

- Day display: The weekday is written out in full in the arched aperture at 12 o’clock.
- Date display: The date appears at 3 o’clock, with Rolex’s familiar Cyclops lens over the crystal.
- Winding system: Calibre 3255 is bidirectionally self-winding in the cited platinum specification.
- Reserve: Rolex states approximately 70 hours for the cited olive-green configurations, enough to cover a typical weekend off the wrist if fully wound.

Those numbers are not interchangeable benchmarks because they come from different markets, currencies and metal configurations.
