The Patek Philippe Calatrava 5328G-001 brings an unusually long reserve and instantaneous day-and-date displays to a manually wound white-gold dress watch. Its appeal rests on that mix: a traditional Calatrava case and textured blue dial around a technically ambitious movement. The published specifications make it distinctive on paper, though they do not establish how it wears or performs in independent testing.
What makes the Calatrava 5328G-001 distinctive?
Launched at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025, reference 5328G-001 combines a 41 mm white-gold case with a textured blue dial and a manually wound movement. The caseband carries Patek Philippe’s hobnail, or “Clous de Paris,” pattern. The company cites the 1954 Calatrava 2554 as historical context for that motif; that reference does not, by itself, establish that the 5328G is a reissue or direct descendant.
The dial has a black-gradient rim, applied white-gold numerals and luminous white-gold syringe-shaped hands. Its day appears in an aperture, while the date is indicated by a hand. Small seconds and a power-reserve display complete the layout. These features give the watch more going on than a spare-hours-only dress watch, while retaining a recognizably formal material and case design. How does the eight-day reserve and calendar work?
Inside is manually wound caliber 31-505 8J PS IRM CI J. Patek Philippe specifies a minimum power reserve of 192 hours—eight days—and says the movement uses two barrels connected in series. The day and date displays are described as instantaneous; the other indications are power reserve and subsidiary seconds.

Patek Philippe’s April 2025 press release says: “The two barrels connected in series guarantee that the watch will function with perfect precision for eight full days, with a ninth day ‘in reserve’.” That is the manufacturer’s statement, not an independently established rate result. The published minimum reserve is eight days; the quoted ninth-day phrasing should not be read as an additional guaranteed full day of operation.

These are manufacturer-published measurements, not a substitute for trying the watch on. Diameter alone cannot settle wrist fit: the 49.06 mm lug-to-lug length and 10.52 mm thickness also matter, as can wrist shape and strap curvature. A 30 m rating is a specification, not a reason to treat the watch as a sports or swimming watch.

What straps and clasp are listed?
Patek Philippe lists a navy calfskin strap with a fabric pattern and cream stitching, plus an additional grained taupe calfskin strap. The clasp is a patented three-blade white-gold fold-over design. The 21.10 mm lug width may make 21 mm replacement straps a relevant search, but the published specification does not establish that a generic strap will fit correctly or work with the clasp. Confirm the attachment and dimensions with Patek Philippe or a qualified retailer before buying an alternative.
