The Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS still has a compelling trick: its dual-layer display can stretch a large 577mAh battery to multiple days between charges. But in 2026, dated hardware is only part of the concern. Mobvoi’s update record and uncertain ongoing support make this a clearance-era or used-watch option, not a safe full-price buy. Consider it only at a steep discount if battery life and rugged construction matter more to you than current Wear OS features.
What is the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra?
The TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS is the non-cellular version of Mobvoi’s rugged Wear OS smartwatch. A separate TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra 4G/LTE model was sold in some markets. “Anotha One” is a playful subtitle, not part of the official product name; it is also worth distinguishing the Ultra from the earlier TicWatch Pro 3 GPS.
It launched on October 15, 2021, at $299.99 in the United States. Its original appeal was an uncommon combination: Wear OS apps and smart features, a low-power display layer, and a large battery in a ruggedized case. Those hardware qualities remain relevant, but the launch-era price and promise of future software updates do not describe its value today. Android Authority’s launch-era review documents the original pricing and review context.
Design: tough-looking, and genuinely large
The GPS model measures 47 × 48 × 12.3mm and weighs 41g. Its stainless steel and high-strength nylon/fiberglass construction, Gorilla Glass cover, and 22mm fluoro-rubber strap give it a substantial, outdoor-ready feel. The standard-width strap can be replaced with compatible 22mm bands. Mobvoi lists the reviewed configuration in Shadow Black. Mobvoi’s specifications describe the materials and dimensions.

- Adjustable Size: The sport band adjusts by 5.5 - 8.7 inches (14 - 22 cm) and fastens with a secure watch buckle. This keeps the strap safely in place on your wrist—even during intense workouts and sports
- COMPATIBILITY: Compatible with Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra / Pro 3 / S2 / GTX
- Ideal Replacement: Swap your old strap for this replacement band to refresh your smartwatch for new adventures. Your smart watch stays fully functional with the new strap—just like before
- Note: Silicone watch strap does NOT include fitness tracker
Two physical buttons make basic navigation straightforward, but there is no rotating crown or useful rotating bezel. The thick case is the cost of the watch’s large screen and battery: it may dominate smaller wrists and can be uncomfortable to sleep in. Ruggedness and wearability are separate questions; this watch is built to take more rough use than a slim dress watch, but it is not a discreet everyday option.
Mobvoi claims IP68 protection and MIL-STD-810G durability. Those labels are not a guarantee that the watch is indestructible or suitable for every water activity. Follow Mobvoi’s water-use and care guidance, particularly around swimming, salt water, impacts, and seals that may have aged on a used unit.
The dual display is still the defining feature
A 1.4-inch, 454 × 454 AMOLED panel sits beneath a low-power FSTN display. In full AMOLED mode, the watch presents the normal Wear OS interface: apps, notifications, animated elements, and richer watch faces. When the low-power layer is used, it shows a more limited set of glanceable information, such as the time, date, steps, and battery status. It is not a second full smartwatch interface.
The FSTN layer is easy to glance at outdoors and helps reduce power use when you do not need the full-color screen. The Ultra adds an 18-color customizable backlight for low-light viewing. That is a useful personal preference feature rather than a measured performance advantage. The trade-off is visual: the low-power view is practical, but much less like a modern smartwatch display.

Battery life: excellent potential, highly dependent on settings
Mobvoi advertises up to 72 hours in Smart Mode and up to 45 days in Essential Mode, qualifying both figures as dependent on use, configuration, and other factors. The 45-day claim applies to Essential Mode, not normal smartwatch operation. Mobvoi’s product page lists those manufacturer claims.
Independent testing gives a more useful sense of the range. Notebookcheck observed around one to 1.5 days with conventional always-on display use and nearly three days when always-on behavior was disabled and the low-power display did more of the work. A GPS workout shortened runtime further. These are test results, not a guarantee for an older unit; a watch bought years after launch may have a degraded battery.
Battery use rises with always-on AMOLED, frequent GPS workouts, continuous heart-rate or SpO₂ monitoring, sleep tracking, music playback, Bluetooth calls, and—on the LTE model—cellular use. Weak Wi-Fi or cellular coverage, initial setup, and software updates can also increase drain. If buying used, ask for a recent battery-use history or a return window rather than assuming a 577mAh battery still performs like a new one.
Charging-time reports differ: Notebookcheck took slightly over three hours in its test, while Android Authority reported roughly 1.5 hours under its conditions. Neither figure should be treated as a universal charge time. The watch uses a proprietary magnetic charger and does not charge wirelessly, so confirm that the correct charger is included with a second-hand purchase.

Performance and everyday smartwatch use
The hardware comprises Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100, Mobvoi’s dual-processor system, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage. Connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, NFC, a speaker, and a microphone. Contemporary testing found everyday app use responsive, but that launch-period experience is not proof that the watch feels fast against current models. The processor can still handle basic smartwatch tasks; software version, app compatibility, and service availability are the larger ownership risks now.
Notifications, calendar and weather views, music controls, and calls through the built-in speaker and microphone are part of the smartwatch proposition. Mobvoi lists Google Pay support, which is now presented as Google Wallet in many markets, but NFC hardware alone does not ensure a working payment setup. Country, bank, installed software, and service availability all matter. Likewise, do not assume that Google Assistant or Spotify offline playback will be available on a particular unit simply because those services appeared in launch-era feature lists.
Health and fitness: useful wellness tools, not a sports-watch substitute
Mobvoi promotes continuous heart-rate tracking, SpO₂ readings, irregular-heart-rate and AFib-related detection, sleep-stage tracking, stress and energy estimates, more than 100 workout modes, and built-in GPS. The sensor set includes a heart-rate optical sensor, SpO₂ sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, and off-body sensor; independent specifications also list a compass. Feature availability can depend on the installed Mobvoi apps and software state.
These are wellness features, not medical diagnoses. Mobvoi explicitly says SpO₂ is for health reference and is not a medical diagnostic standard. A reading or alert should not be used to diagnose a condition or replace professional care. A feature count also says little by itself about training value: contemporary reviews found heart-rate tracking decent, but criticized sleep tracking, and reported that GPS could struggle at times. Those observations are not a substitute for testing a specific unit.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFor serious training, evaluate the data over multiple sessions rather than trusting a single reading. Check for obvious heart-rate dropouts or implausible spikes, compare a route with a phone or dedicated sports watch, and try sleep tracking over several nights. Without documented comparative testing, there is no basis to promise a level of sensor accuracy.
GPS and outdoor use
The GPS model supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, and BeiDou, and includes a barometer for elevation-related readings. Satellite performance can vary with tree cover, dense buildings, terrain, and how long the watch has been unused; after a reset or lengthy gap, initial location acquisition may take longer. A phone nearby can also assist location behavior, so a phone-connected workout does not necessarily demonstrate standalone GPS performance.
GPS recording reduces battery life. The barometer estimates elevation from air pressure, so weather changes can affect its readings. For dependable training analytics, structured workouts, recovery metrics, or outdoor navigation, a dedicated Garmin, COROS, Polar, or Suunto watch may be a better fit, though such devices can give up some Wear OS apps, payment features, voice functions, and notification depth.
Software support is the central 2026 drawback
The TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra shipped with Wear OS 2. Mobvoi later rolled Wear OS 3 to older TicWatch models after a lengthy delay, but that history does not establish the software version on every device now. Android Central reports that Mobvoi only began releasing Wear OS 4 for newer watches in late 2024, after Google and Samsung had moved to Wear OS 5, and that older TicWatches did not receive the newer Google Assistant experience. The same reporting describes Mobvoi’s ongoing commitment as “essential” support rather than a clear multi-year feature-update promise. Android Central’s report on Mobvoi’s support and retail position provides the broader context.

- 2.5D rounded edge glass for comfort on the fingers and hand
- 9H hardness, 99.99% HD clarity, and maintains the original touch experience
- Hydrophobic and oleo-phobic coating to reduce sweat and reduce fingerprints

There is no universal 2026 firmware version established here. Region, device history, reset status, and update availability can differ, so inspect the actual watch before purchasing or relying on a feature.
- On the watch, open Settings → System → About and note the Wear OS version and security-patch date if displayed.
- Open the Play Store on the watch and check for updates to Google and Mobvoi apps.
- Confirm which companion app the watch requires and whether it pairs with your phone after a factory reset.
- Test any essential service—such as Wallet, Assistant, or music playback—on the unit itself before the return period ends.
A rugged case and long battery do not compensate for missing app support or uncertain updates. If predictable support is a priority, choose a current watch with a clearer software runway.

Mobvoi says the watch works with recent Android phones, excluding Android Go devices and phones without Google Play Store, and also lists iOS support with the caveat that features vary by platform and country. Android is the safer choice for the fuller Wear OS experience; iPhone support should not be confused with Apple Watch-level integration. Check the current companion-app requirement before buying, especially for a refurbished unit that may have been paired to someone else’s account.
- Factory-reset a used watch before pairing, and confirm it can complete setup with your phone.
- Check Google Wallet support for your country and bank; NFC does not guarantee payment availability.
- For the separate 4G/LTE model, verify carrier and eSIM support. The GPS model reviewed here is not cellular.
- Confirm the proprietary magnetic charger is included and works.
TicWatch Pro 3 versus Pro 3 Ultra: is the upgrade worthwhile?
The Ultra is an incremental refinement, not a generational redesign. It retains the dual-display concept, processor family, similar battery capacity, and overall form factor. Its changes include more rugged construction, Gorilla Glass, MIL-STD-810G positioning, updated health-monitoring features, and the customizable FSTN backlight. Android Authority concluded that existing Pro 3 owners had limited reason to upgrade unless greater durability was particularly important.

Alternatives if you want a current smartwatch
| Option | Why consider it | What you give up or should check |
|---|---|---|
| OnePlus Watch 3 | A current Wear OS alternative with a stronger case for modern software and multi-day battery positioning; Android Central identifies it as its preferred current Wear OS alternative. | No Mobvoi-style FSTN dual-display system; may be a poor fit for users invested in Samsung Health or seeking the smallest watch. |
| Google Pixel Watch | Closer access to Google’s current smartwatch features and first-party software direction. | Smaller and generally a weaker battery-life proposition than the TicWatch’s low-power-display design. Check Google’s current model and price at purchase time. |
| Samsung Galaxy Watch | Current Wear OS support, broad accessory availability, and deeper integration with Samsung phones. | Typically lacks the TicWatch’s distinctive FSTN display and may be less appealing if maximum battery endurance is the priority; not for iPhone users. |
| Garmin, COROS, Polar, or Suunto | Worth considering for dedicated training, GPS, structured workouts, recovery metrics, or outdoor navigation. | These are fitness-first alternatives, not direct Wear OS replacements; apps, Google payments, voice features, or notification depth may be reduced. |
Current model names and availability change, so compare the live product listings rather than relying on launch-era prices. A newer watch is the safer purchase if the price difference is modest and software support matters more than the TicWatch’s unusual display.
Who should buy the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra?
It can make sense for an Android user who finds a heavily discounted, used, or refurbished GPS model, prioritizes multi-day battery potential and a rugged design, and accepts older software with uncertain future support. It is a poor fit for buyers who want the latest Wear OS features, a long update runway, dependable sport-watch analytics, a slim case, or Apple Watch-like iPhone integration. Avoid paying near the original $299.99 US launch price.
Before paying, assess the actual unit rather than the product page: check software and patch status, test pairing and any essential Google services, ask about battery condition, confirm the charger, and understand the seller’s return policy and warranty. Current stock and pricing were not established by the official product listing; a page remaining online is not proof that a watch is available to buy. Android Central reports that TicWatch listings have disappeared from major retail channels, making seller protection especially relevant.
