Timex’s UK website and Frasers at Meadowhall were the reported launch channels, with sales due to begin on 16 November 2024. That was a historical launch offer—not a confirmed price today—and the available reporting does not establish whether the watch is still in stock.
Which Timex watch was offered for £1?
It was the Waterbury 170th Anniversary watch. T3 reported on 21 October 2024 that Timex planned a worldwide run of 1,000 pieces, with a UK launch price of £1. The same article reported a $1 launch price for the USA. Those figures describe the terms reported at launch in 2024; they are not evidence of current prices or resale values. T3’s 21 October 2024 report is the source for the offer and product details below.
Where and when was it meant to be sold?
T3 said the watch was due to go on sale on 16 November 2024 through Timex’s UK website or at Frasers in Meadowhall. The article does not establish whether either retailer still has stock, whether the launch sold out, or whether the watch is currently available through another retailer. Check a retailer’s live listing directly before relying on any price or availability claim.
What does the anniversary watch look like?
T3 described a white lacquered dial with Roman numerals around the outer edge, a day-date display at 3 o’clock, and a 170th-anniversary logo at 6 o’clock. It also reported a brown natural-leather strap described as English Cordovan, with quick-release spring bars, and an engraved caseback. The reported caseback text reads: “This watch celebrates simply great watchmaking since 1854. A true American Icon.”

Why was the launch price $1 in the United States?
T3 connected the anniversary to the company’s origins, saying that the brand was trading as the Waterbury Clock Company in 1854 and sold its Yankee pocket watch for $1. That historical explanation and the modern launch-price figures are as reported by T3; the article is not an official Timex specification sheet.
What details are not established?
The T3 report does not give a model reference number, movement caliber, case dimensions, or water-resistance rating. Although it mentions quick-release spring bars, it gives no lug width or other fit measurements, so it is not enough to identify a compatible replacement strap. It also provides no current stock or price information.
