Mineral crystal appears in both retailer records, and the 42 mm bracelet versions are described with exhibition casebacks. These are useful specification clues, not evidence of scratch resistance, movement finishing, or long-term reliability. Can you swim with it?
Do not apply one Waterbury Traditional water-resistance rating to every reference. The 2U83700 retailer listing says 100 m, while the 42 mm bracelet listing and launch-era account say 50 m. Confirm the exact reference and consult its own manual or model-specific documentation before exposing it to water. The available information is not enough to give a blanket swimming recommendation for the Traditional family.

Is it still available, and what should you pay?
Current availability and pricing for the older Traditional references are not established here. Halifax Watch Company’s 2U83700 listing was marked out of stock when inspected, and Gear Patrol’s $269 figure was the launch price for the 42 mm bracelet version in 2019—not a current market price. Confirm that a seller has the exact reference and configuration in stock, and check its condition, return terms, and warranty before purchase.
Timex’s current US product page surfaced for the Waterbury Heritage Automatic TW2Y94100, a distinct model rather than proof that the older Traditional Automatic remains in production. Timex lists that Heritage reference with a Miyota 8205 self-winding movement, day/date display, 39 mm stainless-steel case, 46 mm lug-to-lug, 13.5 mm height, 20 mm bracelet width, K1 mineral crystal, and 50 m water resistance; the page describes that rating as suitable for light swimming but not snorkeling or poolside diving.
