The Timor Heritage Field WWW is a modern, Swiss-made interpretation of the company’s WWII-issued WWW watch—not a wartime original or an unchanged reissue. It has strong historical cues, compact proportions and a choice of hand-wound or automatic movement. Its main trade-offs are a £979 UK list price and a manufacturer-rated 50 m water resistance that should not be mistaken for an assured swimming watch.
What makes it a Dirty Dozen successor?
Timor says it was established in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1923. In its own account, the company made Army Trade Pattern watches before supplying a watch to the British War Department’s WWII WWW order. Twelve manufacturers fulfilled that order; the watches later became known collectively as the Dirty Dozen. Timor calls the Heritage Field the “long-overdue spiritual successor” to its WWW watch. That is a brand description, not a formal historical designation: the modern watch is a reinterpretation.
The distinction matters. Rob Nudds’s hands-on comparison for Fratello, published March 31, 2021, notes changes to the crown, typeface, bezel and crystal profile. He regards the brighter Super-LumiNova as an improvement. The Heritage Field draws on the original’s practical military-watch character, but it does not reproduce every detail.
Timor’s company history provides its own account of the firm and the WWW connection. The brand also says the modern range was designed by a British Army veteran and made using Swiss manufacturing techniques; those are company-provided statements.

How it may fit and wear
At 36.5 mm across, the case is modest by many contemporary-watch standards. The 45.5 mm lug-to-lug measurement is also relevant: diameter alone does not tell you how far the watch will extend across your wrist. If fit is a concern, compare both figures with a watch you already find comfortable, or try the Timor on in person.
Nudds found the 11 mm thickness well judged relative to the case diameter and praised the build and execution in his 2021 hands-on review. That is his assessment at the time, not a new wear test. Timor lists a bead-blasted steel case, domed sapphire crystal and nylon strap—materials and details that suit the watch’s utilitarian styling.

Hand-wound or automatic?
Timor lists hand-wound and automatic versions in the Sellita SW216 / SW260 movement family. The useful distinction is how you prefer to interact with a watch: a hand-wound model calls for regular winding by the wearer; an automatic winds through wrist movement, with manual winding also typically available. The listing identifies the movement family but does not establish a performance advantage for either choice. Nudds considered having both options a positive feature in his review.
Is 50 metres of water resistance enough?
Timor rates the watch at 5 ATM / 50 m / 165 ft. That is the stated rating; it is not a promise that every kind of water exposure is appropriate. Nudds questioned why a watch with this design and a closed caseback carries only a 50 m rating. Do not infer swimming suitability from the “field watch” label or the depth figure alone. Consult Timor’s current water-use guidance for the specific model and follow it.

Is £979 good value?
At the UK list price of £979 shown on Timor’s product page on October 4, 2026, the Heritage Field is a considered purchase. Its appeal rests on the combination of the Timor WWW connection, restrained dimensions, Swiss-made positioning, sapphire crystal, lume and the choice of winding style. Whether that justifies the asking price depends on how much you value this particular historical lineage and design; the available evidence does not establish a market-wide value ranking.
Keep older pricing commentary in context. Nudds discussed a £910 asking price in 2021 and described an earlier £650 early-bird price as attractive. Those figures are historical, not current offers or a basis for today’s price comparison.

Who should consider it?
- Consider it if you want a compact, heritage-led field watch and value Timor’s connection to the wartime WWW story.
- Compare carefully if you are choosing between hand-wound and automatic watches, or if case fit is important: both movement preferences and the 45.5 mm lug-to-lug measurement deserve attention.
- Look elsewhere or seek clarification first if swimming is a requirement, or if you want a close physical reproduction of the WWII watch rather than a modern interpretation.
