It was never a full-featured Wear OS watch, and its 128 × 128 display and rudimentary software already felt limited in period reviews. In 2026, uncertain app compatibility and the age of any remaining battery make it a poor choice for dependable daily use. Consider one only as a very cheap, tested curiosity—not as a modern smartwatch.
What is the Ulefone uWear?
The original Ulefone uWear, also identified in some listings as the uWear SW01, was a budget Bluetooth smartwatch sold around 2015–2016, primarily through import retailers. It ran proprietary software, not Android Wear or Wear OS, and did not have an app store. Its job was to relay selected phone alerts and provide a handful of simple watch functions.
Do not confuse it with Ulefone’s later Armor Watch products. Features advertised for newer watches—including GPS, AMOLED displays and 5ATM water resistance—are not established features of the original uWear. The current Ulefone store promotes newer products rather than the uWear.
Ulefone uWear specifications
| Specification | Original uWear |
|---|---|
| Display | 1.44-inch touchscreen, 128 × 128 pixels; period listings describe a TFT/LCD-type panel |
| Construction | Apple Watch-inspired rectangular design, curved 2.5D front glass and silicone-style strap; black and silver versions were reported |
| Weight | About 45 g in some period listings |
| Battery | 220 mAh; the launch-era claim was up to seven days on standby, not typical connected use |
| Charging | Micro-USB |

| Connectivity and software | Bluetooth phone connection; proprietary operating system |

Design and display
For a low-cost watch, period reviewers generally liked the uWear’s appearance and thought its build felt better than its price suggested. It borrowed the rectangular shape and visual cues of the Apple Watch, with a side button, speaker and microphone. The resemblance was obvious, and the broad bezels made the small screen look dated even in its launch era. Positive impressions of new-unit construction do not establish long-term durability.
The 1.44-inch, 128 × 128 display is adequate for the time, battery status and brief notification previews. Its low resolution makes text visibly coarse, while reviewers also noted occasional lag, awkward message scrolling, uneven brightness and, in one test, flicker. Touch response could become unreliable when the screen or finger was wet. A small selection of built-in faces and no meaningful third-party app ecosystem further limit personalization. Period observations are summarized in Basic Tutorials’ review.
What can the uWear do?
Notifications and calls
When paired successfully, the uWear could show incoming-call alerts and notifications from SMS and selected phone apps. It also reportedly supported Bluetooth calls using its speaker and microphone. Calls still depended on a nearby paired phone: the watch had no cellular connection. Its speakerphone conversations could be heard by people nearby, and performance depended on the phone, Bluetooth link and condition of the used watch’s audio hardware.

- [Activity Tracking] Built-in PPG photoelectric detection technology, it can monitor your activity in real time during sports, and the data is reflected in the APP to realize 24-hour monitoring.
Android was the better-supported platform in period testing. Setup could involve pairing, installing a companion or notification app, enabling notification access and selecting which alerts to forward. An old QR code or setup guide is not proof that the linked app remains safe or compatible today.
Remote controls and simple utilities
Period coverage also lists an alarm, sedentary reminder, remote music controls, a phone-camera shutter, anti-loss alert and find-phone function. These are companion features, not standalone capabilities; their usefulness depends on a working Bluetooth connection and compatible phone software.
Activity and sleep estimates
The watch could count steps and offer basic sleep monitoring and activity summaries. Period testing questioned step-count consistency, and some functions reportedly required manual activation. Treat these as rough activity estimates, not medical measurements or dependable training data. Altitude or barometer functions mentioned in some coverage were described as unreliable or nonfunctional.
Rank #3
- Smart Watch is made of special aluminum alloy material. It has passed military-grade tests such as extreme temperature, low pressure, dust resistance, and can be used in harsh environmental conditions
- Smartwatch with text and call features high-quality speakers that support making/receiving calls and even playing music (please make sure you have successfully connected your watch's audio Bluetooth).
- Step counter watch supports multiple sports modes, which include Walking, running, basketball, football, cycling, rope skipping, mountain climbing, etc.
- Fitness tracker provides monitoring functions such as 24-hour real-time activity tracking. (Note: It cannot be compared with hospital equipment, not medical equipment!!)
- Waterproof Men's Smart Watch has no problem washing hands and jogging in the rain (but does not support swimming, diving, shower/sauna, etc.).
What it does not provide
- No established built-in GPS, NFC payments, cellular service, Wear OS or app store.
- No verified modern heart-rate, ECG or blood-oxygen monitoring; heart-rate claims conflict with hands-on reporting.
- No credible basis for treating it as a current sports watch or health tracker, or for expecting modern synchronization and standalone use.
Android and iPhone support
| Function | Android | iPhone |
|---|---|---|
| Basic Bluetooth pairing | Reported in period coverage; current-phone compatibility is not established. | Advertised or reported in period coverage; current-phone compatibility is not established. |
| Notifications | More complete support was reported, typically requiring a companion app and notification permissions. | More limited; some notification and messaging functions were reported missing. |
| Remote camera | Reported as available in period coverage. | Reported as unavailable or unreliable in some period testing. |
| Fitness-data synchronization | Dependent on old companion software; current behavior is not established. | Poor or unavailable in period testing. |
| Bluetooth calls | Reported through the paired phone; test the actual unit and phone. | Test the actual unit and phone; current support is not established. |
These are period-era reports, not a compatibility guarantee for current iOS or Android releases. For iPhone owners especially, advertised compatibility should not be mistaken for feature parity.
Battery life and charging
The 220 mAh battery was advertised for up to seven days of standby. That figure is not a realistic expectation for a watch actively connected to a phone and receiving alerts. Period reviewers reported widely varying results: roughly a day or less in regular or heavy connected use, while one light-use test reported about nine days. These were individual review observations, not controlled comparable measurements. A reasonable expectation for a healthy original battery is about a day of active connected use, but the condition of a decade-old battery now matters more than the original specification. The variation and standby distinction are discussed in Basic Tutorials’ review.

IP65 is not swimming protection
Period listings give the uWear an IP65 rating. That rating denotes dust protection and resistance to low-pressure water jets under test conditions; it does not mean the watch is safe for swimming or immersion. Avoid showers, pools and the sea. A used unit’s seals and adhesives may have deteriorated, and opening the cover or replacing the battery can compromise protection. Calling this watch simply “waterproof” overstates what the rating establishes.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. The biggest 2026 risk: old companion software
The uWear depended on old companion apps and Bluetooth notification mechanisms. Period references mention Fundo Companion, BTNotification or similar tools, but current support for the original uWear is not established. The visible Fundo Wear Google Play listing describes other wearable models and does not identify the uWear by name. Ulefone’s present Armor Watch app download page offers routes for newer products, not proof of uWear support.
That means no responsible buyer should assume the uWear works with a current Android phone or iPhone, that its original app is still officially supported, or that data synchronization will work. Do not trust an old watch QR code as a safe download source. Avoid sideloading an APK from an unknown site unless you understand the malware and privacy risks.

How to check a used uWear before buying
Ask for a live demonstration with the exact phone and app you intend to use. A seller who cannot demonstrate pairing or accept a return leaves you carrying the compatibility risk.
- Confirm the seller can power on the watch and show the touchscreen, side button, screen and menus working.
- Have the watch enter Bluetooth pairing mode and connect it using a trustworthy, model-appropriate app. Do not assume that pairing in the phone’s Bluetooth settings alone enables notifications.
- Test an actual notification and, if important, a Bluetooth call. Confirm the speaker and microphone work.
- Check that the battery holds charge for several hours and that the Micro-USB port charges steadily without cable movement.
- Inspect the case, screen, charging-port cover and strap for damage, corrosion or signs of water ingress. Do not rely on IP65 protection in an old unit.
- Ask whether the watch is still linked to another phone, and confirm that the seller accepts returns if pairing fails.
If pairing fails, a cautious troubleshooting sequence is to forget the watch in the phone’s Bluetooth menu, restart both devices, reset the watch if its menu offers that option, then pair through the appropriate companion app and grant the requested Bluetooth, nearby-device and notification permissions. This may still fail: compatibility with current operating systems has not been established.
Should you buy the Ulefone uWear in 2026?
It may suit
- A collector or tinkerer who wants a period gadget and can verify the exact unit.
- An Android user willing to troubleshoot old software and satisfied with basic alerts rather than reliable health or sports data.
- A buyer paying only a few dollars, with a return option and no expectation of current support.
Skip it if
- You need dependable daily notifications, broad iPhone support, accurate fitness information, GPS, payments or ongoing app support.
- You want a watch for swimming, showering or serious running and cycling.
- You are buying remotely from a no-return listing or need a dependable battery.
Its launch-era price—often reported around $20–$30 by import retailers—helped make its looks and basic Bluetooth features appealing then. That historical price is not current buying guidance: any listing now is seller-dependent old stock or a used device with uncertain battery and software condition.
A current Ulefone alternative
Ulefone’s current store lists the Armor Watch Pro at $89.99 as of August 16, 2026, advertising a 1.50-inch AMOLED display, built-in GPS and 5ATM water resistance. This is a newer product, not a replacement app or an upgrade path for the uWear. Check regional stock, shipping, warranty and companion-app compatibility before buying; the Armor Watch series page covers the current range.
Verdict
The uWear was an appealing low-cost Bluetooth watch in its time, but it combines a very basic screen and feature set with uncertain phone-app support and an old battery. In 2026 it makes sense only as a cheap, verified novelty. For a watch you can depend on every day—or for fitness, iPhone use, GPS or water activities—choose a current model instead.
