W8 Bluetooth Smart Watch Review: What Buyers Should Know in 2026

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Verdict: The W8 can be a very cheap Bluetooth watch or watch-phone, but “W8” is not one consistently specified model. Different listings describe different batteries, cameras, apps, water-resistance claims and cellular hardware. Consider one only if the exact unit is identified, the price is low, the seller accepts returns and you can confirm it works with your phone. It is not a dependable choice for health tracking, GPS workouts, water use or long-term app support.

This is a buyer’s guide to the W8 product name and available listings, not a hands-on review of one specific watch. No single set of specifications can safely be applied to every product sold as a W8.

What is the W8 Bluetooth Smart Watch?

W8 is a marketplace label used for several inexpensive square watches. Some are Bluetooth accessories that rely on a phone; others are described as watch-phones with a SIM slot. They may offer basic alerts, call functions, alarms and step counting, but their hardware and software are not standardized.

The square styling on some versions may recall an Apple Watch, but that is a visual comparison only. It does not imply equivalent sensors, apps, reliability or support. An older review describes a 240×240 display and basic watch functions; a separate seller listing describes an MTK6260A watch-phone with Bluetooth 3.0 and a SIM slot. A HryFine-branded listing describes yet another configuration. TheTechHacker’s older review, the W08 seller listing and the HryFine W8 listing should therefore be read as descriptions of particular variants, not a universal specification sheet.

Why W8 specifications conflict

Reported differences are substantial enough that the name alone cannot identify what a buyer will receive. These are examples from particular listings and reviews, not specifications shared by all W8 watches.

Variant or source Reported details What to take from it
Older W8 review 240×240 display; 128 MB RAM and 64 MB storage; 0.3 MP camera; roughly one and a half days of battery use; 1.1 cm thickness and about 1.8 oz weight. These are observations and figures for the reviewed unit, not every W8. Source
W08 watch-phone seller listing MTK6260A 533 MHz processor, Bluetooth 3.0, 128 MB RAM, 64 MB ROM, 380 mAh battery, SIM and microSD slots, camera and a claimed 180-hour standby time. Seller-reported specifications; standby is not normal-use runtime. Source
HryFine W8 listing 200 mAh battery, magnetic charging, Bluetooth 4.0, IP67 claim and Android/iOS compatibility. A separate listed configuration; do not transfer its rating or compatibility claims to another W8. Source
RoQ W8 catalog entry 1.54-inch display, Bluetooth 3.0, no GPS, no water resistance and a 0.07 MP camera. Another catalog description, further evidence that the name covers different revisions. Source

Camera claims across these sources range from 0.07 MP to 0.3 MP and 2 MP. Battery claims include 200 mAh and 380 mAh. Those discrepancies are reasons to verify the exact device, not values to average into a supposed standard W8.

Identify the exact watch before buying

Ask the seller for clear photographs of the watch, packaging and back panel, plus the model number or SKU. Confirm the companion app’s exact name and app-store listing; whether the watch has SIM and microSD/TF slots; camera presence and resolution; printed battery capacity; charging connector; stated IP rating; Bluetooth version; and supported Android and iOS versions. Also check the seller’s location, return terms and warranty. If the seller cannot establish these basics, treat the product as unidentified.

Design, display and interface

Some W8s have a square touchscreen and a low-resolution 240×240 display; listings and reviews also describe screens around 1.54–1.56 inches. The interface is generally a basic menu system, not a full smartwatch operating system. Reports of limited watch-face choices and elementary menus do not establish how bright, responsive or readable a particular unit will be outdoors.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

An older review describes one unit as slim, with a silicone-style strap and a stainless-steel-looking rear panel. Other versions may use different materials and finishes. There is no dependable evidence here of drop testing, corrosion resistance or long-term durability, and listing photos may not match the revision shipped. Replacement-band availability is also unclear. The older review’s design measurements apply only to its tested watch.

Calls, messages and other functions

Feature lists may include Bluetooth calling, SIM calling, contact lists, call logs, notification alerts, music controls, local media playback, alarms, a calculator, weather icons, sedentary reminders and camera functions. A listing’s menu icons or marketing terms do not prove that full standalone apps or services are available.

Bluetooth calls are not SIM calls

With Bluetooth calling, the paired phone supplies the cellular connection. A SIM-equipped watch-phone is intended to call independently, but it still needs compatible radio bands, an active SIM and a carrier that supports its network technology. The older W08 listing describes MTK6260A-era hardware and Bluetooth 3.0; it does not establish compatibility with current U.S. networks. A physical SIM slot alone is not proof that calls will work. The seller listing is not a carrier-compatibility guarantee.

An older independent account reports that calls could be answered on its unit but that using the watch speakerphone in public was awkward. That is an observation about one device, not a universal test result. The account also describes reading alerts without necessarily being able to compose messages. Notification mirroring is not the same as sending and receiving messages independently, and social-media icons do not prove that complete messaging apps run on the watch.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Camera, storage and media depend on the revision

Some versions are listed with a built-in camera, SIM slot, microSD/TF expansion and local music or video playback; other versions may lack some or all of those features. Camera claims vary widely, and the available evidence does not establish consistent photo quality, video recording, image-save location or remote phone-camera support across models. Before buying, verify whether the camera is built in or whether the listing means a remote shutter, and ask the seller for a demonstration of the exact unit.

MicroSD capacity claims also vary. Do not assume a W8 accepts a 32 GB card, or any card at all, without confirmation for that particular revision. An older seller listing provides its own storage claims, but those are not universal. See the W08 listing.

Phone compatibility, pairing and app risk

“Works with Android and iPhone” is not enough to establish that every function works on current phones. Some W8 variants are associated with HryFine; older W8 products may use another app or connection method. A related HryFine-platform manual lists Android 5.0 and iOS 9.0 requirements, but that does not establish current compatibility for all W8s. Check the app and supported OS for the precise model before purchase. Related manual and related setup document.

Pairing may require a connection through the companion app, a separate Bluetooth connection for calls, or both. Notifications can depend on granting notification access and keeping the app active in the background. On Android, battery-management settings may stop the app; on iPhone, notification and app functions may be more limited. The available product descriptions do not establish that every app remains available, receives updates, exports to Apple Health or Google Fit, or keeps health data locally rather than in the cloud. Check the actual app’s developer, permissions, privacy policy and recent availability before relying on it.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If pairing or notifications fail

  1. Charge the watch, then restart it and the phone.
  2. Remove any previous watch entry from the phone’s Bluetooth device list.
  3. Open the correct companion app for this model; pair inside the app if its instructions require that.
  4. Grant only the permissions needed for the functions you intend to use, such as Bluetooth, notifications, contacts or camera access.
  5. On Android, allow the app to run in the background and review battery-optimization settings.
  6. Keep the watch close to the phone during initial setup, then check that the phone is not in Do Not Disturb mode and that the watch supports the notification type you expect.
  7. If it was previously paired to another phone, reset it according to its manual. If the app cannot find it, confirm the model and app before trying anything else; installing an unknown APK creates a security risk.

If calls work but music does not, Bluetooth audio profiles may be a factor. An older user account reports that connecting a watch for audio interfered with stereo Bluetooth headphones on that setup; it is a possible limitation of old hardware, not a guaranteed behavior on every W8. Account of the issue.

Health tracking: estimates, not medical readings

Some listings advertise steps, calories, sleep, heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygen and sports modes. The available product evidence does not establish clinical validation, sensor accuracy, calibration or regulatory clearance. The older independent review questioned the usefulness of some readings and noted that arm movement could affect the pedometer. See the account.

  • Steps: May serve as a rough activity prompt, but arm movements can distort counts.
  • Sleep: Treat as a basic estimate, not a dependable sleep assessment.
  • Heart rate: If it works consistently, it may show rough trends; accuracy is not established.
  • Blood pressure and SpO₂: Do not use these readings to diagnose a condition, change medication or make treatment decisions.
  • Calories: An algorithmic estimate, not a direct measurement of energy use.

If a reading looks implausible, refit the watch snugly and keep your wrist still; compare broad trends rather than isolated numbers. Do not rely on it when a reading conflicts with symptoms or a trusted medical device.

Battery life and charging

Battery reports are not directly comparable: an older reviewer described roughly one and a half days of use, one seller claims 180 hours of standby, and listings identify different capacities, including 200 mAh and 380 mAh. Standby means little active use; calls, screen time, vibration, speaker use, frequent alerts and Bluetooth reconnection can shorten runtime. None of those claims should be read as a guaranteed everyday battery life for an unidentified watch. Older review, W08 listing and HryFine listing.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Charging is also revision-specific: the HryFine listing describes magnetic charging, while another W08 listing describes a USB cable. Confirm the connector and whether a replacement charger is available before buying; a proprietary charger can make an otherwise functional watch difficult to keep in use.

Water resistance, GPS and network limitations

Water claims conflict: one HryFine W8 listing says IP67, while a RoQ catalog entry says there is no water resistance, and older independent coverage advises keeping the watch dry. Unless the exact unit has a verifiable manufacturer rating, treat it as non-water-resistant. Do not swim, shower or deliberately submerge it, and never charge it while wet. HryFine listing, RoQ listing and older user account.

There is no reliable basis to recommend the W8 for GPS workouts: a catalog entry explicitly lists GPS as absent, and no reliable evidence establishes onboard satellite positioning across the W8 family. A listing that says “GPS” may refer to phone-assisted location or may describe a different model. RoQ catalog entry.

For SIM-equipped versions, check supported network bands and technology, carrier requirements such as VoLTE, SIM activation and any local device-registration rules. The available information does not establish current U.S. carrier compatibility. If independent calling is essential, get confirmation for the exact model and carrier before purchase.

Should you buy the W8?

It may suit

  • A buyer who wants an inexpensive experiment and accepts uncertain specifications and software support.
  • Someone who mainly wants basic alerts, alarms or rough step counts, provided the phone pairing works.
  • A buyer interested in a novelty camera or watch-phone feature and able to verify that the exact unit has it.

Avoid it for

  • Medical or dependable fitness measurements, GPS workouts, swimming or safety features.
  • Long-term app support, strong privacy assurances, secure payments or a polished smartwatch experience.
  • Independent cellular calling unless the exact radio and carrier compatibility have been confirmed.
  • A purchase that depends on reliable warranty service, replacement parts or a well-documented ecosystem.

As of 2026, the W8 is best treated as a low-cost Bluetooth accessory or dated watch-phone, not a serious modern smartwatch. Its low price can be the point, but the uncertainty around model identity, app continuity, battery, water protection and network support is part of the cost.

Better-supported alternatives

These products are not one-for-one replacements for a W8 with a working SIM slot. They are options for readers whose real priority is GPS, fitness tracking or dependable phone integration. Prices below are the signals shown on official U.S. pages in the supplied material and may change.

Alternative Best fit Documented points Trade-off
Amazfit Bip 5 Budget smartwatch with GPS and longer battery claim. Official page showed $89.99, with a displayed range of $59.99–$89.99; four-satellite-system GPS, 10-day typical battery claim, IP68, and Android 7.0+/iOS 14.0+ compatibility. Costs more than a generic W8 and is not an independent cellular watch. Price and availability are volatile.
Fitbit Inspire 3 Fitness and sleep tracking. Google Store page showed $99.95; another official page view showed a temporary $79.95 price. Up to 10-day battery claim and 5 ATM water protection; see official specifications. A tracker rather than a full smartwatch; it does not provide SIM-based watch-phone functions.
Apple Watch SE 3 iPhone owners prioritizing integration, calls and support. Apple’s U.S. page showed GPS models from $249 and GPS + Cellular models from $299. Far more expensive than the W8, requires an iPhone for normal use and has shorter battery life than many fitness-focused watches. Price is volatile.

Choose among these according to the job you need done: GPS and smartwatch functions, fitness tracking, or iPhone integration. None should be assumed to reproduce the W8’s possible SIM-card watch-phone behavior.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
