How the UR-112 displays the time
Under transparent cylinders, revolving triangular prisms carry the digital hour and minute indications. The hour numeral jumps as the hour changes. Minutes advance in five-minute increments, while a trailing indicator supplies the precise minute between those five-minute steps.
The display is read from the front of the watch, giving the UR-112 a digital appearance without an electronic module. The jumping numerals are filled with Super-LumiNova for visibility in low light.
What the hinged cover reveals
Open the front cover and a second information panel appears. It shows digital seconds on a silicon disc and the movement’s power-reserve indication. The cover is therefore functional rather than merely decorative: it hides secondary information until the wearer chooses to expose it.

Movement and specifications
URWERK identifies the movement as automatic caliber UR-13.01. The manufacturer specifies 66 jewels, a 4 Hz frequency and approximately 48 hours of power reserve. The case uses sapphire crystal and is rated to 3 ATM (30 metres), a level suited to everyday splashes rather than swimming or diving.

A Hodinkee week-on-the-wrist review of the Back to Black version printed dimensions of 42 × 52 × 16 mm. That small length difference contrasts with URWERK’s current collection specification of 42 × 51 × 16 mm; the manufacturer figure is the appropriate reference for the present model listing.
What wearing it is like
The available independent hands-on account is Hodinkee’s week-on-the-wrist review of Back to Black, not a test of the original Aggregat. Its observations therefore apply to that edition and to the reviewer’s experience. This article did not handle or wear a UR-112, so it does not claim independent judgments about comfort, accuracy, winding efficiency or real-world durability.

Regardless of edition, the 42 mm width understates the watch’s wrist presence because the case extends 51 mm from front to back and houses a prominent display module. The forward-facing prisms make the reading experience unlike a standard dial: the wearer looks toward a mechanical information window rather than across a field of hands.

Original Aggregat
The first Aggregat is described as a 25-piece titanium edition. Its defining architecture is the same: front-mounted revolving prisms, a hinged information cover and a movement connected to the display by a cardan shaft.

Back to Black is a separate 25-piece version. URWERK’s press material describes DLC-treated titanium and steel construction and gives a launch reference of CHF 280,000 excluding tax. The darker treatment changes the surface character, but it should not be confused with the original Aggregat or treated as a later price update for it.
Odyssée
Odyssée is another UR-112 variant listed in URWERK’s official material. A press statement attributed to co-founder and master watchmaker Felix Baumgartner calls the watch “pure madness in terms of the mechanics and the finishes” and says there may be just five pieces. The wording is tentative, so five should not be presented as a confirmed final production quantity. A current Odyssée price, final quantity and authorized stock position remain unconfirmed.
Can you buy a UR-112 Aggregat now?
There is no verified live retail listing or authorized inventory reference established here. With editions this limited, availability is likely to depend on URWERK directly, an authorized specialist or the secondary market, and any seller’s provenance and service history would need checking. The published CHF figures are useful for understanding the model’s price tier, not for assuming that a watch can currently be ordered at those amounts.

What makes the UR-112 significant?
The UR-112 concentrates several URWERK signatures in one mechanism: a sculptural case, a display that behaves like a digital readout, and a remote movement-to-display drive using a cardan shaft. Its practical compromise is deliberate. The front prisms make hours immediately legible and minutes precise enough for normal use, while the seconds and reserve indicator require opening the cover. Buyers are paying for that mechanical architecture and finishing as much as for conventional timekeeping.
Verdict
The URWERK UR-112 Aggregat is an unusual mechanical watch whose digital-looking front display is entirely mechanical. Manufacturer specifications establish its 42 × 51 × 16 mm case, UR-13.01 automatic caliber, 48-hour reserve and 30-metre rating. The original Aggregat carried an indicated CHF 250,000 price for 25 pieces; Back to Black was documented at CHF 280,000 excluding tax for another 25-piece run. Those historical references explain the model’s positioning, while current Odyssée pricing and real-time availability remain unresolved.
