The 2024 Oris Aquis Date is a refinement of the previous generation, not a radical redesign. The clearest practical change is a slimmer case: Monochrome Watches’ July 2024 comparison reports reductions of about 0.5 mm on the 43.5 mm and 41.5 mm models. Oris also revised the bracelet, bezel, lugs and dial details. The familiar Aquis shape remains, so the best way to compare generations is to check the exact size and movement, then consider fit, convenience and price.
What changed on the 2024 Aquis Date?
Monochrome Watches’ July 2024 comparison describes an evolutionary update. Viewed casually, the new and previous models can be difficult to distinguish; the differences emerge in their proportions and smaller details.
Case, lugs and crown guards
The revised case is about 0.5 mm thinner on the 43.5 mm and 41.5 mm versions covered by the review. It attributes the reduction to a reshaped caseback and a slightly thinner central case. Monochrome lists thicknesses of 13.1 mm for the new 43.5 mm model and 12.9 mm for the new 41.5 mm model, compared with 13.7 mm and 13.3 mm respectively for the prior generation. The lugs are slimmer, more tapered and more curved; the crown guards are smaller and more tapered as well.
Bezel and dial
The ceramic bezel insert has revised proportions, a thinner-looking scale and a more defined notched profile. On the dial, Oris reshaped the shield-like hour markers and updated the hands and luminous material. The Aquis lettering is more compact, and the date wheel is color-matched across the range, making the date display less conspicuous.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Bracelet
The 2024 bracelet has a broader brushed center link, thinner polished side links and more taper between the case and clasp. Oris says it reworked every bracelet link to increase taper while retaining a robust profile. The changes affect how the bracelet looks and narrows toward the wrist; try the exact version on if fit is a priority.
Which sizes and movements are in the comparison?
Monochrome’s July 2024 collection overview lists four principal size-and-movement combinations. It describes Calibre 400 as the more feature-rich option and Calibre 733 as a conventional, established alternative; it does not establish a comparative reliability ranking.

The Oris Image Booklet 2024 says the Aquis Date Upcycle has the same specifications as its corresponding standard Aquis Date, but uses a dial made from recycled PET plastic. Oris says the production process makes each dial unique. The booklet identifies a 43.50 mm Calibre 400 Upcycle example; the material claim applies to the dial, not the entire watch.

Which generation should you choose?
- Start with fit. Compare diameter and thickness, and try the watch on if possible. A nominal generation label cannot tell you how either case will sit on your wrist.
- Decide how much movement reserve matters. The review lists a 120-hour reserve for Calibre 400 and 38 hours for Calibre 733. It also places the Calibre 400 in a higher price tier; weigh those differences against the features and terms attached to the exact reference.
- Check bracelet and clasp details. The 2024 bracelet’s taper is a collection-wide design change in the comparison. Monochrome says the patented quick-change strap hardware and quick-adjust clasp are limited to the 43.5 mm Calibre 400 model, not standard on every 2024 Aquis Date. Oris describes its clasp as allowing quick adjustment without removing the watch.
- Choose by appearance, not just chronology. The new bezel, markers, hands, typography and proportions are refinements. If you prefer the older dial lettering or case proportions, the previous model may suit your taste better.
- Compare exact references and current offers. The 2024 euro prices are historical launch figures. Confirm the configuration, local price and availability with Oris or a retailer before deciding.
