vivo’s WATCH GT launched in China in May 2024 as the company’s first square-format smartwatch. It combines a 1.85-inch AMOLED display, BlueOS, a 505mAh battery, more than 100 sports modes and an eSIM option. The headline “10-day battery life” needs a qualification: it is vivo’s regular-use estimate for Bluetooth mode, not for independent cellular use. vivo rates the watch for three days in its regular-use standalone eSIM/LTE scenario.
China price and launch details
The WATCH GT was announced alongside the vivo S19 series and launched in China in May 2024. vivo’s Chinese specification page lists the eSIM model at CNY 799 with a soft-rubber strap or CNY 899 with a leather strap. Those are China launch prices, not an official U.S. MSRP, and approximate dollar conversions reported by third parties should not be treated as U.S. pricing.
vivo positions the model as its first square smartwatch, rather than a direct round-watch successor. The case uses a matte aluminum-alloy middle frame, a stainless-steel rotating crown and 2.5D curved glass. Colors are Summer Black and Cloud White; body weight is 33g without the strap.
vivo’s specification page provides the China model information, while launch coverage from May 30, 2024 records the announcement context and the same pricing.

Battery life: what the numbers actually mean
All endurance figures below are vivo’s stated scenarios, not independent test results. The company says actual runtime varies with software version, test environment, battery condition and usage.

The 10-day Bluetooth test assumes default settings, smart heart-rate monitoring, continuous blood-oxygen monitoring, sleep tracking, 100 message notifications, six incoming calls, two alarms and 180 wrist raises per day. It also includes 30 minutes of app use, 30 minutes of Bluetooth calling per week, 30 minutes of Bluetooth music playback per week and 180 minutes of GPS exercise tracking per week. That is a defined laboratory-style workload, not a promise that every owner will reach 10 days.
For cellular use, the relevant comparison is nine days in vivo’s longest-use same-number scenario or three days in regular-use standalone mode. Enabling an eSIM therefore changes the practical battery expectation substantially.

What the eSIM and calling modes do
Bluetooth calling
Bluetooth calling keeps the watch paired to a phone nearby or within Bluetooth range. Calls use the phone’s connection and do not make the watch an independent cellular device.

In this mode, the watch shares a number or carrier service with the phone. Activation depends on the operator’s supported service and local policy. vivo’s Chinese documentation lists a longest-use endurance claim of up to nine days for this mode.
Standalone-number service
Standalone service gives the watch its own cellular identity. vivo lists three days in its regular-use LTE scenario. The Chinese documentation says China Mobile and China Telecom did not support the listed same-number or standalone-number activation options. China Unicom’s same-number service was normally limited to Android users, while standalone-number service supported Android and iOS users subject to operator policy. In the stated configuration, receiving and replying to information was supported only in standalone-number mode.

These are carrier rules documented by vivo for its Chinese service environment and can change. An eSIM symbol on imported hardware does not prove that activation will work in the United States or another country. Check the exact watch variant, carrier, service type and phone platform before buying.

The watch includes a microphone and speaker for calls and audio functions. Its square layout distinguishes it from round Wear OS and traditional fitness watches, but BlueOS is a different platform from watchOS or Wear OS and does not offer the same app ecosystem.
Health and sports tracking
Core wellness features include heart-rate, blood-oxygen, sleep, stress, breathing-exercise, menstrual-cycle and noise monitoring. GPS supports outdoor exercise tracking. vivo lists more than 100 sports modes, including running, swimming, walking, cycling, jump rope, rowing, badminton, table tennis, tennis, sit-ups and free training. Running coaching, fitness courses and specialized racket-sports tracking are also part of the feature set.

On its global page, vivo reports average heart-rate accuracy of 94.58% across full exercise scenarios and 98.5% in running scenarios. These are manufacturer-reported test results, not independent measurements. The watch is not a medical device; its heart-rate and blood-oxygen readings are for general reference and should not be used to diagnose a condition. China launch materials highlight AI-generated watch faces, AI shorthand or voice note-taking and an AI Smart Window for items such as travel, train, taxi and movie updates. The watch supports customizable faces, including always-on display options, an app store accessed through the watch or vivo Health, NFC cards, quick cards, QR-code payments and phone-health-app integration.
Availability depends on market, firmware, phone, app and account region. vivo’s Chinese page says the watch-side app store can be used only when the watch is connected to an Android device, a significant limitation for iPhone owners. NFC transport and access cards are market-dependent; vehicle-key support is Android-only and limited to certain BYD models in the stated documentation. Payment, transit, AI and third-party applications available in China should not be assumed to work after import.

Phone compatibility and international availability
vivo’s global WATCH GT page references Android 8.0 and newer and iOS 12.0 and newer. Basic pairing compatibility is not the same as complete feature parity: notifications, app installation, Bluetooth calling, health synchronization, NFC and cellular activation can each have separate restrictions. The global page also notes that iOS connection was temporarily unavailable while the vivo Health app was undergoing App Store review at the time of its last update.
vivo maintains a global product page at https://www.vivo.com/en/products/watch-gt, but it does not establish U.S. retail availability, a U.S. price, U.S. carrier eSIM support or a U.S. warranty. International buyers should verify:
- Whether the imported model’s eSIM can be activated by their carrier.
- Whether same-number or standalone service is offered and on which phone platforms.
- Language, firmware and account-region behavior.
- Compatibility of payments, transit cards, access cards and vehicle keys.
- Return, repair and warranty arrangements in their country.
Who should consider the WATCH GT?
The watch is most compelling for China-based buyers, or for importers whose carrier explicitly supports the model, who want a square design, broad fitness tracking and long Bluetooth endurance at the CNY 799–899 launch price. vivo-phone and compatible Android users are the safest fit because several software and carrier functions are platform-specific.
Be cautious if you require confirmed U.S. LTE activation, a mature international payment system, full Wear OS or watchOS applications, guaranteed iPhone feature parity, long battery life during independent LTE use or a local service network. The hardware may pair internationally, but that does not make every Chinese-market feature portable.

The vivo WATCH GT is a China-launched square smartwatch with useful hardware and strong quoted Bluetooth endurance. Read “10 days” as vivo’s regular-use Bluetooth estimate; for independent cellular operation, the company’s corresponding regular-use figure is three days. Its value outside China depends less on the eSIM hardware than on carrier activation, phone platform, regional software, payments, warranty and app support.
