Those facts can suggest different kinds of status display and public branding. They cannot reveal either man’s private motives or prove character, and published watch lists are not complete, verified inventories.
What watches has Trump been reported wearing?
Time+Tide’s 2020 account identifies several watches associated with Trump: a Colibri quartz watch once owned by Ronald Reagan, which Trump bought at a 1999 auction; a yellow-gold Patek Philippe Ellipse; a pink-gold Vacheron Constantin Historiques Ultra-Fine 1968, worn during the 2016 campaign; and a yellow-gold Rolex Day-Date. Chrono24’s 2019 feature also identifies a 36-mm gold Rolex Day-Date and the Vacheron Constantin. These are reported examples, not a current audit of Trump’s private collection. Time+Tide; Chrono24.
Personal watches and Trump-branded merchandise are different things
The reported personal watches are established luxury models. Separately, Trump has sold watches bearing his name. His earlier quartz Donald J. Trump Signature Collection was sold through Macy’s and was off the market within about a year, according to Time+Tide. That merchandise is evidence of public-facing branding; it does not explain why he chooses a particular personal watch.
What watches has Putin been associated with?
Watch coverage has linked Putin to a Blancpain Léman Aqua Lung Grande Date, an A. Lange & Söhne Tourbograph Perpetual “Pour le Mérite,” Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar and Calatrava models, and watches by Breguet and F.P. Journe. Time+Tide describes the A. Lange as a platinum split-seconds chronograph with a tourbillon and perpetual calendar, and reports that only 50 were made. Chrono24 likewise calls it a rare, complicated watch. Gifts and the historical valuation
Contemporaneous 2009–2010 reports described Putin giving Blancpain watches to a boy and a factory worker, and tossing a watch into wet concrete at a construction site. These episodes became part of the public story around his watches, but do not verify the entirety or value of his collection.
In 2012, Russian opposition group Solidarity estimated Putin’s watches at nearly $700,000; The Moscow Times reported its estimate as at least 22 million rubles. ABC News noted the dollar estimate was nearly six times Putin’s official annual salary at the time. What the comparison can—and cannot—tell us

That distinction matters because a watch is an accessory, while the public record is a patchwork of photographs, journalism, anecdotes and attributed estimates. The reasonable interpretation is about public image: Trump’s name appears both on merchandise and in the branding conversation, whereas Putin’s reported watch story emphasizes luxury models, complications and gifts. Going further—to claim that a watch proves a political motive or reveals private character—would exceed what this evidence supports.
Trump’s licensed watches: what the sales coverage establishes
In September 2024, Trump promoted a licensed watch collection. The Associated Press and The Washington Post reported launch-era advertised prices of $100,000 for the top model, described as having 122 diamonds, and $499 for the “Fight Fight Fight” model; the coverage also described three 18-karat-gold styles. Those are launch-era descriptions and prices, not confirmation of current availability or terms.

AP and The Washington Post reproduced the sales website’s disclaimer: the watches were not designed, manufactured, distributed or sold by Trump or the Trump Organization. The site said TheBestWatchesonEarth LLC used Trump’s name, image and likeness under license. This makes the licensed merchandise distinct from the personal watches attributed to Trump in earlier reporting. Associated Press; The Washington Post.
What a tourbillon means here
The $100,000 model was promoted as a tourbillon watch. The Los Angeles Times reported that Swiss watchmaker Olivier Mory developed its movement, while the brand’s website cautioned that images might not be exact representations. At the time of that report, the paper said it was unclear whether working models had been produced.

A tourbillon was devised to counter gravity’s effect on a watch mechanism. Modern advances have removed the original functional necessity, so in a contemporary wristwatch it also serves as a display of mechanical craft. In July 2026, the Associated Press reported that Trump’s latest financial disclosure showed $4.7 million in prior-year receipts from watches carrying his name. This is reported business revenue from branded watches—not the value of his personal collection, an appraisal of any individual watch, or evidence that the 2024 products remain available.
