Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →The Arrow Smartwatch’s genuinely clever idea was its 360-degree rotating camera bezel. Instead of fixing a camera to the watch case at an awkward angle, Arrow let the wearer aim it independently—toward the face for selfies or outward for photographs and video. The concept was unusually practical for a camera watch, but Arrow is now a legacy crowdfunding device, not a dependable 2026 smartwatch purchase.
The design trick: a camera you can actually aim
A camera mounted on a watch normally points wherever the wrist happens to face. Taking a selfie can mean bending the wrist, twisting the arm or holding the watch at an uncomfortable angle. Arrow put the camera in a bezel that rotates through 360 degrees, allowing the wearer to point the lens without rotating the entire watch.
The display can act as a viewfinder while the bezel is aimed toward the wearer or away from it. That is the important distinction: “360-degree camera” describes the camera’s mechanical aiming range, not automatic 360-degree panoramic or spherical photography. Contemporary explanations of the mechanism appear in Digital Trends and Stuff.
What could the camera do?
Stills, video and audio
The production-oriented SW88 manual lists a 5-megapixel camera and says the display and camera rotate 360 degrees. Campaign-era coverage described 1080p HD video, but that resolution claim comes from promotional reporting rather than the available manual excerpt. The watch also included a microphone for audio capture and an on-watch recorder.

Storage and phone transfer
Photos and videos could be stored on the watch and transferred over a companion-phone connection for saving, editing, messaging or social sharing. The manual lists 8GB of flash ROM; usable capacity would be lower after the operating system and preinstalled software. Whether those transfer features still work depends on obtaining a compatible companion app, which is not assured on current phone software.
It was more than a camera
Arrow was pitched as a round smartwatch combining wrist photography with the features buyers expected in the late 2010s:
- Notifications and calendar information.
- Call acceptance or rejection through a built-in speaker and microphone.
- Voice-based text creation or replies, as described in campaign coverage.
- Music playback or music controls.
- Pedometer, activity tracking and an accelerometer.
- GPS, weather information and reminders.
- Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.
- Wireless charging.
- Compatibility with standard 24mm watch bands, according to contemporary specifications.
The SW88 manual specifically lists calendar, pedometer, clock, camera, video recorder and audio recorder functions. Its FCC filing identifies the device as an Arrow Technologies product designed to work with Android and iPhone smartphones through a companion app. That original compatibility claim should not be read as a guarantee of pairing with 2026 versions of either operating system.
Documented SW88 production specifications
The most concrete hardware evidence is the FCC-associated SW88 documentation. The authorization record is dated July 17, 2018 and identifies Arrow Technologies as the applicant; see the FCC equipment record and the filed user manual.

Why specifications changed over time
Arrow appeared in several stages, so older articles can conflict without necessarily describing the same hardware.
2014 concept
Early coverage discussed an intended 8-megapixel camera, possible Android Wear software, sapphire glass, a 1.61-inch display, heart-rate monitoring and Qi charging. Those were proposed features, not confirmed production specifications. See Digital Trends’ concept-era report.
2017 crowdfunding campaign
Campaign reporting described a 5-megapixel camera, 1080p video, 8GB storage, a roughly 1.39-inch 400 × 400 OLED display, a 400mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi and GPS. One report described normal use as roughly one day. Historical campaign pricing varied: early-backers’ figures were reported at approximately $159–$229, while another account cited $149 for a silicone-band version. Those were crowdfunding prices, not current retail values. Sources include Tech.co, Techniblogic and Appstory.

2018 FCC and manual stage
The later SW88 manual lists a 1.4-inch AMOLED screen, 480mAh battery and 1GB of RAM, and claims 48–72 hours of endurance. The different figures show why concept, campaign and production documentation should not be merged into one definitive specification sheet.

Yes, it progressed beyond a render: an FCC authorization and a user manual exist for the SW88. It was also funded through Indiegogo. The associated campaign reportedly raised $625,548 from 3,765 backers, and its 2017 campaign period ended; the BackerKit project page and pledge manager are closed.
That evidence does not establish universal delivery, a functioning current app, warranty service or an active retail channel. A secondary report alleged that some backers complained about non-delivery; that remains an allegation rather than proof of the overall fulfillment rate. The existence of regulatory paperwork proves that a device reached testing, not that every funded unit worked or remains supported.

Camera and battery compromises
A 5-megapixel wrist camera cannot be assumed to match a modern phone camera. Camera use also keeps the display, processor and storage active. GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth add further demand to a relatively small battery. The 48–72-hour figure is a manual claim, not a measured guarantee, and an old lithium-ion cell may have degraded substantially after years in storage.
Connectivity and software risk
Contemporary comparison coverage reported no cellular radio, so many connected functions depended on a nearby phone or Wi-Fi. An aging Android-derived platform may power on while failing to pair because the companion app is unavailable, current operating-system permissions have changed or cloud and sharing services have disappeared.
Water resistance and moving parts
Water-protection descriptions are inconsistent. One secondary account mentioned IP65, while the manual wording is less definitive. Do not treat Arrow as swim-proof. The rotating bezel also adds mechanical parts that could loosen, lose alignment or fail after years of use.
Privacy and social acceptability
A camera on the wrist can feel more intrusive than a phone camera, especially in workplaces, schools, venues and changing areas. Follow local recording laws, venue rules and ordinary consent practices; do not assume that a small lens is socially acceptable merely because it is built into a watch.

What to check before buying a used Arrow
In 2026, a purchase only makes sense as a collectible or experiment if the seller can demonstrate all of the following:
- The exact watch powers on and reaches its interface.
- The camera bezel rotates smoothly through its range and holds alignment.
- The camera records a test image or video and the files can be accessed.
- The original wireless charging base is included and works.
- The companion app can be installed from a trustworthy source.
- The watch pairs with your specific Android or iPhone version.
- The seller offers a meaningful return period.
- The asking price reflects an unsupported legacy gadget, not a current smartwatch.
Common failure modes include a watch that boots but cannot pair, notifications that work while photo transfer fails, full storage, a missing charger, a degraded battery, slow or unreliable GPS, and a bezel that has become loose. Treat a listing described as “new” with caution: it may simply be old crowdfunding inventory.

Not as a dependable everyday smartwatch. There is no verified current official retail price, active support policy, security-update schedule or guaranteed app path. An unofficial listing is only worth considering when the seller proves operation, includes the charger and accepts returns.
For a supported modern watch, current platforms such as Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch and Garmin are more sensible choices for notifications, fitness, GPS and phone integration. None reproduces Arrow’s rotating camera bezel, which is precisely why Arrow remains interesting as a piece of wearable-history design rather than a practical replacement.
Verdict: clever mechanism, uncertain legacy
Arrow was cool because it addressed the hardest ergonomic problem of camera watches: aiming the lens. Its rotating bezel made selfies and outward-facing shots more natural, while the rest of the package attempted to combine camera, storage, calls, notifications, GPS and fitness tracking in one round device.
The innovation should not be confused with a mature ecosystem or proven long-term performance. Production documentation confirms a real SW88 device, but the campaign is closed, support is unverified and current compatibility is uncertain. In 2026, Arrow is best understood as an inventive crowdfunding wearable to study or collect—not a smartwatch to buy for reliable daily use.
