Verdict: The Aiwatch GT08+ is a 2015-era 2G watch-phone, not a modern smartwatch. It can make calls, send local SMS, play media, take basic photos and perform simple utility and fitness tasks, but only where compatible 2G GSM service still exists. Notification syncing, online services, battery life and water protection are all uncertain. Most 2026 buyers should avoid it unless they want a cheap historical gadget and can verify the exact unit, network and battery.
Names are a serious problem. “Aiwatch GT08+,” “GT08,” “GT08 Plus,” “Z60,” “PK S8” and “DZ09” have been used for overlapping designs. A listing called GT08 Plus may instead describe an Android 4.4, Wi-Fi, GPS and 3G watch, a materially different device from the commonly reviewed Aiwatch model. For example, the configuration shown by Geekbuying should not be assumed to match the 2015 watch.

These findings come from period reviews including Music Photo Life, The Tech Hacker and Fandroid; they do not establish that every current GT08 listing is identical.
Design and display
The watch uses an Apple Watch-inspired rectangular case, a metal or stainless-steel-looking chassis, soft rubber strap and a physical side button/crown. One detailed review measured approximately 49 × 43 × 12 mm and about 63 g; reported colors included black, white and gold. Check that a used listing includes a suitable strap, battery, micro-USB cable and manual.

The 1.54-inch 240 × 240 TFT was considered bright with reasonable viewing angles for its era. Its large bezel makes the active display look smaller than the case, and no dependable screen-protection specification is documented. It is serviceable for taps and short menus, but not comparable with a current AMOLED watch.
What it can do independently
Calls, SMS and contacts
With a micro-SIM and a functioning compatible 2G GSM network, the GT08+ can make and receive calls, send local SMS and store contacts and call logs. This is the feature that made it unusual in 2015—and the reason it is difficult to recommend now. It is not LTE, 5G or eSIM.
A seller explicitly describes the device as 2G-only and calls for an unlocked micro-SIM at Abigail Jireh. A technically unlocked watch is still useless if the local carrier has retired 2G or will not provision compatible service. This is a particularly large barrier for U.S. buyers.
Media and utilities
The proprietary menu includes an alarm, calendar, calculator, file manager, sound recorder, image and video viewers, music player, FM radio, browser, SIM tools and an anti-loss/finding-phone function. Music can be stored on microSD or controlled through a paired phone. FM reception may require wired earphones as an antenna; reviewers disagreed about whether the required connection was practical or supplied.

The principal reviewed model has a 0.3-megapixel camera: useful for novelty snapshots, not quality photography. Remote control of a paired phone’s camera is potentially more useful. Later clone listings claim different resolutions, so inspect the actual module and firmware.

What happens when it is paired with a phone?
Bluetooth calling
Historical testing found hands-free calling with Android phones and iPhones. The watch can function as a Bluetooth speakerphone and may expose contacts and call history. Pairing success does not prove that every companion feature works.
Notifications and remote controls
Notification synchronization is the weak point. One review reported good results with Android 4.4 and below but inconsistent behavior on Android 5.0; an old MediaTek notification application may be required. iPhone users should expect less functionality than basic calling, and should not assume SMS, app notifications or remote-camera control parity. Software experience and limitations
This is a closed, fixed-function system—not Wear OS, watchOS or a modern Android watch. There is no normal app store, no meaningful third-party ecosystem and only three preset watch faces were reported. The tiny keyboard makes text entry unpleasant. Browser, WeChat, QQ and other network-dependent services were already inconsistent in period testing and are likely unusable on today’s services. Do not try to modernize it with random APKs.

Fitness and health features
The GT08+ offers a pedometer, sedentary reminder, sleep monitor and basic motion sensing. These are broad consumer labels, not medical measurements. There is no established GPS, heart-rate monitoring, ECG, blood-oxygen, blood-pressure measurement, validated sleep analysis or modern exercise-profile system.

Battery, charging and durability
Published specifications cite a removable 3.7 V, 350 mAh battery, roughly 180 hours of standby and four to six hours of talk time. Those are historical manufacturer or seller estimates, not current measurements; the FCC-hosted manual is for a GT08 device whose exact match should be checked: manual PDF. Charge for about one to two hours only if the unit and cable appear safe. Stop immediately if the cell swells, leaks, overheats or collapses rapidly.
Water claims cannot be reconciled. One article lists IP53, while another listing says “Not Waterproof.” Even genuine IP53 would not mean immersion protection. Treat every unit as non-waterproof: no swimming, showering, bathing or heavy-rain use.

- Verify identity: Photograph the rear label, box, firmware screen, SIM slot, battery and model markings. If it says only GT08 or GT08 Plus, classify it as an unidentified family clone until proven otherwise.
- Inspect and charge: Check for battery damage and use a compatible micro-USB cable. A GT08 manual suggests approximately one to two hours, but that instruction may not apply to every clone.
- Test without a SIM: Confirm booting, touch, button, alarm, pedometer, camera, music and Bluetooth menus before inserting a network SIM.
- Test Bluetooth calls: Pair from the phone, then verify both call audio and the microphone.
- Test notifications separately: Do not install an unverified old MediaTek app on a primary phone. If calls work but notifications fail, treat it as an operating-system limitation.
- Check cellular service: Confirm the carrier still operates compatible 2G GSM, the SIM is activated and unlocked, and the physical size is correct. “All networks supported” is not proof.
- Test microSD: Start with a small known-good card and format it if necessary; do not load valuable media until the slot is stable.
If pairing fails, delete old GT08 Bluetooth entries, reboot both devices and pair again from the watch menu. If browser or messaging services fail, that is expected obsolescence, not a reason to install random software.
Should you buy one in 2026?
Buy only when all of these are true
- You specifically want a novelty watch-phone or historical gadget.
- Compatible 2G service is confirmed at your location.
- The seller accepts returns and the exact hardware is identifiable.
- The battery is safe, or its replacement path is known.
- The price is low enough to absorb uncertain support.
- You do not require modern apps, notifications, GPS, health sensors or water resistance.
Avoid it when you need
- Reliable smartphone notifications, LTE/eSIM or a current U.S. cellular experience.
- App installation, custom watch faces, navigation or accurate health tracking.
- Water resistance, security updates or dependable vendor support.
Current pages are mostly stale, out of stock, sold out or generic. Tekkiwear shows an out-of-stock style listing, while AliRadar records a generic listing that is no longer for sale. Neither establishes genuine Aiwatch availability.

If you need current LTE, apps and supported notifications, a mainstream LTE watch is the safer route. Samsung lists the Galaxy Watch8 LTE at its official U.S. store; it costs vastly more than the GT08+ but solves the 2G and software-obsolescence problems. A Bluetooth-only watch such as the vendor’s AIWATCH A1 may provide calling after phone pairing, but it is not a standalone SIM replacement. For occasional calls, a basic phone plus an ordinary watch is often more reliable than any unidentified GT08 clone.

Historical reviews found Bluetooth calling, but iOS notification and companion features are not equivalent to Android support.
Is the GT08+ waterproof?
Do not assume so. Published claims conflict, and even IP53 would not permit swimming or showering.
Is its sleep monitor medically accurate?
No evidence supports that. It is a basic consumer feature alongside the pedometer and sedentary reminder.
The Bottom Line
The GT08+ remains interesting as a tiny 2G watch-phone, but its defining advantage is now its defining liability. In 2026, buy only a verifiable unit for a compatible 2G niche; for a dependable smartwatch, choose a supported LTE or Bluetooth platform instead.
