Alpina’s published figures are not fully consistent: its US page gives a 38-hour power reserve, while its Australia page and a 2024 specification sheet state 50 hours. Case thickness is also reported differently, so confirm the specification for the exact watch before purchase.
What the Seastrong Diver Extreme GMT is
Alpina presents the Seastrong Diver Extreme Automatic GMT as a travel watch with diver-style construction. The black-dial version is reference AL-560B3VE6 on Alpina’s US and UK product pages. The Australia product page describes an AL-560 movement based on SW330; Alpina’s 2024 technical sheet also identifies the black model and its specifications. These are manufacturer-published details, not independently verified performance results.
Alpina’s product-page description calls it “a watch made for exploration.” That is brand language; the practical proposition is a second time-zone display in a watch with a substantial water-resistance rating.
How its GMT hand and bezel track time zones
Alpina says the GMT hand displays a second time zone while the main hands show local time. The 24-hour bezel can be used to track a third zone. The bezel is bidirectional, as specified in Alpina’s 2024 technical sheet. Alpina’s US product page and Australia’s product page describe the GMT arrangement.
#1 Best Overall
- The Seastrong Diver Extreme Automatic GMT. One movement and three-time bands.
- The GMT is displayed with a second central hours hand-known as the 'home time zone'-while the central hours, minutes and seconds hands denote the time wherever the wearer is on their travels; the date window at 6 o'clock is naturally synchronized with this time band. No additional controls are required to operate the GMT function: everything is done via the single, secure screw-crown at 3 o'clock.
- Relentless travelers in need of a third-time band can also use the bezel with its 24-hour markings.
- This style features the signature Alpina triangle pattern dial in a silver tone, and comes on a black rubber strap.
In practical terms, the GMT hand gives a reference time alongside local time; the bezel adds a way to read another time zone against that 24-hour hand. The published descriptions establish those intended uses, but do not provide an independent assessment of accuracy, legibility or ease of setting.
Published specifications—and where they conflict
| Specification | Published detail |
|---|---|
| Movement | AL-560, described by Alpina Australia as based on SW330; 25 jewels. Alpina Australia |
| Power reserve | 38 hours on Alpina’s US page; 50 hours on Alpina Australia’s page and the 2024 technical sheet. Confirm the figure for the exact reference. US page; Australia page; 2024 technical sheet |
| Case dimensions | 39 × 40.50 mm footprint on Alpina Australia’s page and the 2024 sheet. Thickness is 12.80 mm on the Australia page and 12.65 mm on the sheet. Alpina’s US page renders thickness as “1280 mm,” which appears to be a display or data error rather than a usable dimension. Confirm case thickness before relying on it. Australia page; 2024 technical sheet; US page |
| Water resistance | 300 m / 30 ATM, per the 2024 technical sheet; Alpina’s regional page also states 30 ATM. 2024 technical sheet; Australia page |
| Crystal and crown | Anti-reflective sapphire crystal and screw-down crown on the 2024 technical sheet. 2024 technical sheet |
| GMT bezel | Ceramic, matte black and bidirectional, per the 2024 technical sheet. 2024 technical sheet |
| Dial and strap | Black dial with triangle pattern and black rubber strap, per Alpina Australia. Alpina Australia |
The technical sheet is a 2024 document hosted by a retailer, while the product pages are Alpina’s regional listings. The 38-versus-50-hour reserve difference and the 12.80-versus-12.65 mm thickness difference should not be silently reconciled: ask Alpina or the selling retailer to confirm the specification of the watch being offered.

Black and silver dial versions
Alpina lists a black-dial model and a silver-dial variant. The 2024 technical sheet identifies the silver version as AL-560LG3VE6; the black model is AL-560B3VE6. The available source details do not establish that every specification, regional price or availability status is identical between the two, so compare by exact reference rather than assuming the dial is the only difference. What to confirm before buying
- Confirm the reference number, especially when comparing the black AL-560B3VE6 with the silver AL-560LG3VE6.
- Ask the seller to verify the power reserve and case thickness for the specific piece, given Alpina’s conflicting published figures.
- Check current price, stock and sale status in your market rather than relying on a listing captured earlier.
- If considering a replacement strap, verify fit with Alpina or the retailer. Alpina’s US page lists a 15.25 mm lug/strap-lock width, and the available product information does not establish compatibility with aftermarket straps.
The 300 m / 30 ATM rating and screw-down crown are published specifications, not proof of the condition or water resistance of an individual used or serviced watch. For any watch that will be exposed to water, verify its condition and have its water resistance checked by a qualified service provider.
