Engadget described $299 as a record-low price at the time for the non-cellular 42mm model. That claim is date-specific; it is not evidence of the lowest price ever. The 2025 Amazon Spring Sale itself has ended, according to Engadget’s sale hub.

Why the Series 10 was attractive
Apple introduced Series 10 in September 2024. Its 42mm and 46mm cases use the S10 SiP, include 64GB of storage and an always-on LTPO3 OLED display rated up to 2,000 nits. Apple lists ECG, heart-rate notifications, sleep tracking, sleep-apnea notifications, a depth gauge and a water-temperature sensor among its capabilities.
- Apple estimates up to 18 hours of normal battery life or up to 36 hours in Low Power Mode.
- Fast charging can reach 80% in about 30 minutes under Apple’s stated conditions.
- The design is thinner than earlier generations, with a larger display area and updated water and sleep sensing.
Specifications and operating limits are documented in Apple’s Series 10 technical specifications and launch announcement. Battery figures are estimates, not guaranteed runtime; workouts, notifications, cellular use, display settings and battery age can reduce it.
Who should consider a Series 10 near $299?
First-time Apple Watch buyers
An iPhone owner wanting fitness tracking, notifications, safety functions and sleep features gets a broad feature set without Ultra-level pricing.

Android users
Apple Watch requires a compatible iPhone; it is not an Android-compatible smartwatch.
Most Series 8 and Series 9 owners

Shoppers expecting medical diagnosis
ECG, blood-oxygen, temperature and sleep-related functions have wellness, screening, software and regional limitations. Sleep-apnea notifications indicate possible signs that may merit clinical evaluation; they do not diagnose, prevent or treat sleep apnea.
Choose the right configuration
GPS versus GPS + Cellular
- GPS: Best when the user normally carries an iPhone. It does not provide the same independent connectivity away from the phone.
- GPS + Cellular: Useful for runners, travelers, children or anyone who wants calls, messages, emergency functions or streaming away from an iPhone. Activation generally requires a separate compatible carrier plan, so the watch price is not the total cost.
42mm versus 46mm
The 42mm case is smaller and lighter and commonly suits smaller wrists. The 46mm offers a larger viewing area. Apple lists the precise dimensions and wrist ranges in its specifications.

Amazon listings can mix new inventory, renewed units and third-party sellers. Verify the condition, seller, fulfillment method, included band, return window and warranty. Apple Certified Refurbished inventory is another route: a cited Series 10 cellular listing showed $379, a one-year limited warranty and 14-day returns when crawled roughly two months before the source was compiled. iPhone requirement
Apple’s Series 10 specification lists compatibility with iPhone XS or later, including iPhone SE (2nd generation or later), running iOS 18 or later. Requirements can change with watchOS and iOS updates, so confirm Apple’s current compatibility information before ordering.
Blood oxygen
The hardware includes a blood-oxygen sensor, but the Blood Oxygen app’s availability depends on market and legal restrictions. Do not assume every U.S. buyer can use the feature.
Sleep-apnea notifications
Apple says this feature is available on Series 9 and later and Apple Watch Ultra 2, subject to software, region and regulatory availability. It reports possible signs rather than providing a medical diagnosis.
Water use
The watch is water resistant and designed for swimming within Apple’s stated limits. “Waterproof” is not an appropriate description, and water-related sensors do not make it a diving computer.
How to judge a current listing
- Use about $299 for a new 42mm GPS aluminum Series 10 as the historical value benchmark.
- Confirm that the selected size, case material, color and band match the advertised price; Amazon may change the price by variant.
- Check whether the unit is new, renewed or refurbished, and identify who sells and fulfills it.
- Read the return window, warranty terms and delivery date.
- Confirm GPS or GPS + Cellular before checkout; cellular service may add a recurring carrier charge.
- If the Series 10 price is materially above $399, compare it with newer Apple Watch models rather than assuming the older watch is the better value.

Apple Certified Refurbished Series 10
This can be preferable to an unknown marketplace refurbisher when available, because Apple-backed warranty and returns may matter more than a small price difference.
Apple Watch SE
The SE is worth comparing for buyers who mainly need notifications, workouts and safety features. It has a less advanced display and sensor package than Series 10, so it is a poor substitute for buyers specifically seeking ECG, the Series 10 display, depth sensing or its newer health functions.
