Whether an Atelier Wen Perception is worth buying depends on the exact generation, condition and price. The clearest documented change is that Perception V2 used the slim SL1588 movement, while V3 adopts a customised Pequignet Calibre EPM03 with a manufacturer-stated 65-hour power reserve and −4/+6 seconds accuracy. That makes V3 the more compelling choice if movement specification is your priority; V2 may still suit buyers who value its slimmer calibre, provided the specific watch and asking price check out.
What changed from Perception V2 to V3?
Atelier Wen’s June 11, 2026 V3 launch article says the V2 used the SL1588, chosen for its slim profile. The brand presents V3’s customised Pequignet Calibre EPM03 as a movement upgrade, with a 65-hour power reserve and chronometer-grade accuracy of −4/+6 seconds. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. Read Atelier Wen’s Perception V3 launch article.

The brand describes V3 as retaining the integrated 904L steel bracelet while refining its links for greater flexibility and drape, and adding clasp finishing and adjustment features. It also says the V3 dial is individually turned on a hand-built rose-engine lathe by Master Cheng Yucai and selected apprentices. These are Atelier Wen’s descriptions of its design and production; they are not independently verified comparative findings.
This is not a complete V2-to-V3 change list: the reviewed official material does not establish every V2 specification or provide an independent side-by-side assessment. Treat the movement as the best-documented distinction, and confirm any other detail against the exact watch you are considering.

How do the generations compare on paper?
| Detail | Perception V2 | Perception V3 |
|---|---|---|
| Movement | SL1588, according to Atelier Wen’s June 11, 2026 V3 launch article; the brand says it selected it for its slim profile. | Customised Pequignet Calibre EPM03, according to Atelier Wen’s June 11, 2026 V3 launch article. |
| Power reserve and accuracy | Not stated in the reviewed official material. | 65-hour power reserve and −4/+6 seconds stated accuracy, per Atelier Wen’s June 11, 2026 specifications; manufacturer claims. |
| Case dimensions | Not stated in the reviewed official material. | 40mm by 10.4mm, per Atelier Wen’s 2026 specifications. |
| Water resistance | Not established for V2 by the reviewed official material. | 100m/10ATM, per Atelier Wen’s 2026 specifications. |
| Bracelet and adjustment | No complete V2 comparison is stated in the reviewed official material. | Integrated 904L steel bracelet; Atelier Wen says V3 refines link construction, flexibility and drape, and lists integrated bracelet micro-adjustment. |
| Crystal | Not stated in the reviewed official material. | Sapphire box crystal with ten internal anti-reflective coating layers, per Atelier Wen’s 2026 specifications. |
The V3 dimensions, water resistance and crystal details should not be read as V2 specifications. Check the reference and documentation for a pre-owned V2 rather than assuming the later model’s figures carry over.
Is the Perception V2 still worth buying?
It can be, but the case for it is price-sensitive. V2’s known appeal in the comparison is its SL1588 movement and the slim profile Atelier Wen says it selected that calibre to achieve. If a thinner movement is more important to you than V3’s stated reserve and accuracy, that may be a reasonable preference. The available evidence does not establish V2’s full dimensions, so try the actual watch on or verify its reference-specific measurements before buying for fit.
V3 is easier to recommend when the buyer prioritises the newer movement specification and the manufacturer-described bracelet refinements. But the specifications alone do not establish that it offers better value at every price: there is no independent named comparative test here, and a confirmed, fairly priced V2 could still be the better purchase for a buyer who prefers its profile.

The reviewed retailer pages do not establish a current available V2 price. The Limited Edition lists a Piao at £3,096 including UK VAT and cautions that delivery depends on stock; Pride & Pinion showed a Perception listing at £2,500 marked sold out. Neither page confirms a current V2 offer, so these figures are not a reliable V2-versus-V3 price comparison. Check the live listing, generation, condition, included paperwork, taxes and delivery before treating any amount as the price of a buyable watch.
- Ask for the exact reference and clear photos of the dial, case, bracelet, clasp and movement documentation.
- Confirm the generation and movement from the watch’s paperwork or a qualified watchmaker; do not rely on a retailer title that only says “Perception.”
- Compare the seller’s price with a currently available watch of the same generation and condition, adding applicable taxes, shipping and any service needs.
- Get the warranty terms, proof of purchase and return conditions in writing, especially for a pre-owned watch.
What ownership support and care should you expect?
Atelier Wen’s FAQ describes a standard five-year warranty from delivery, subject to the paperwork and terms supplied with the watch. It recommends periodic servicing every five years. Warranty coverage and service logistics can matter as much as the specification, so confirm what applies in your location and whether a second-hand purchase retains any coverage. Atelier Wen’s FAQ.
The FAQ says Perception’s 100m/10ATM water resistance permits swimming and advises keeping the crown screwed down where applicable. Follow the rating for the exact model and its care instructions; water resistance is not a promise that every watch remains safe for swimming regardless of age, condition or crown position. For routine cleaning, Atelier Wen mentions a soft microfibre cloth and a fine brush.
