Baltic’s Prismic Stone is a 36 mm dress watch whose natural-stone dial is the main attraction. The key distinction is which generation you’re considering: the original Green Jade, Red Agate and Lapis Lazuli showroom watches were limited to 200 numbered pieces per model and used an ETA Peseux 7001; later stone-dial versions became part of the permanent collection and use a La Joux-Perret D100. The case dimensions remain the same, but movement, edition status and available stones differ.

Original limited edition or permanent collection?

There are two phases to keep separate when comparing Baltic Prismic Stone watches. Baltic’s archived showroom edition paired three stones with cities: Green Jade in New York, Red Agate in London and Lapis Lazuli in Paris. Each model was limited to 200 numbered watches. Baltic said that this showroom edition would not be reproduced; that statement applies to those archived models, not to every Prismic Stone watch made later. Baltic’s showroom-edition archive records the original release.

Baltic later made stone dials part of the permanent Prismic collection. Its product pages identify Pink Albite and Bloodstone as permanent-collection models; watch coverage also identifies Dumortierite and Pietersite variants. For the live selection and regional availability, check Baltic’s Pink Albite product page and its current collection pages. Stock and product details can change, and availability may vary by region.

How the two generations compare

Detail Original showroom edition Later permanent collection
Dial variants Green Jade, Red Agate and Lapis Lazuli Pink Albite and Bloodstone on Baltic’s product pages; Dumortierite and Pietersite also reported in watch coverage
Edition status 200 numbered pieces per model; Baltic said this edition would not be reproduced Described by Baltic as part of the permanent collection
Movement Hand-wound ETA Peseux 7001 Hand-wound La Joux-Perret D100
Power reserve 42 hours 50 hours
Case dimensions 36 mm diameter, 44 mm lug-to-lug, 9.2 mm thick; 7.4 mm without glass Same dimensions stated on the current product page

These movement and reserve figures describe different versions, not conflicting specifications for one unchanged watch. Baltic’s archive documents the original specification, while its current Pink Albite page lists the D100. For broader context on the later variants, see Hodinkee’s coverage of four new Baltic Prismic Stone dials and Monochrome Watches’ report on the permanent collection.

What the stone dial looks like—and what varies

The dial is the defining visual feature. Baltic says the natural stones create unique patterns, so the pattern on a particular watch can differ from product photography or another example of the same stone. Choose a variant for its overall color and character, but do not assume every delivered dial will reproduce the exact pictured pattern.

The available information establishes that the dials are made from natural stone, but does not establish the sourcing provenance, geological origin, treatment or mining practices for each variant. Those details should not be inferred from the stone names alone.

Case, dial details and movement

Baltic specifies a 36 mm case, 44 mm lug-to-lug length and 20 mm lug width. Thickness is 9.2 mm including the glass and 7.4 mm without it. The case combines 316L stainless steel and Grade 5 titanium: Baltic describes a five-part construction, with the steel bezel, lugs and caseback set onto a titanium case body. The bezel has a polished upper section and circularly brushed lower section; the lug tops are polished and their sides horizontally brushed.

The design pairs a double-domed sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating, dauphine hands, applied polished indices and a small-seconds subdial at six. These details are listed for the showroom-edition watch; the current product page retains the core case dimensions and water-resistance rating while specifying the D100 movement.

Hand-wound movements

The archived showroom watches use the ETA Peseux 7001 and have a stated 42-hour power reserve. Current stone-dial product pages list the hand-wound La Joux-Perret D100 and a 50-hour reserve. Both are manual-winding movements, so the wearer should expect to wind the watch rather than rely on an automatic rotor.

How it is likely to wear

A 36 mm diameter gives the Prismic Stone a compact profile by contemporary watch standards, while its 44 mm lug-to-lug measurement helps describe how far it spans across the wrist. The 9.2 mm overall thickness includes the domed crystal; the 7.4 mm figure excludes it. Wrist shape and personal preference matter, so diameter alone cannot guarantee fit. If possible, compare those measurements with a watch you already find comfortable.

The mixed polished and brushed surfaces, stone dial and small-seconds layout give the watch a dress-oriented design. The slim case can suit a cuff, but the domed glass is part of the stated overall thickness, not an extra detail to overlook when judging clearance.

Straps and water resistance

Baltic offers mesh and Italian calf-leather options. The lugs are 20 mm wide, which makes a 20 mm replacement strap a reasonable starting point when shopping, but width alone does not confirm that every strap attachment will fit. Baltic says its straps fit except for its Beads of Rice and Flat Link bracelets; verify the attachment and compatibility of the exact strap or bracelet before ordering.

The stated water resistance is 30 m (3 ATM). Treat that as a limitation for a dress watch, not a swimming or diving rating. If your priority is a watch for regular water exposure, this specification is a meaningful reason to consider another model.

Which Prismic Stone should you consider?

  • For the original release: look for the Green Jade, Red Agate or Lapis Lazuli showroom edition, and verify that the specific numbered watch and its condition match the seller’s description.
  • For a current stone option: compare the permanent-collection variants listed by Baltic, bearing in mind that the pictured natural-stone pattern may not match the individual dial.
  • For movement and reserve: identify the generation before comparing the ETA Peseux 7001’s 42-hour reserve with the current D100’s 50-hour reserve.
  • For fit and use: consider the 36 mm diameter, 44 mm lug-to-lug, your preferred strap and whether 30 m / 3 ATM water resistance suits how you intend to wear it.

Current price and inventory are not established consistently for a defined market, so use Baltic’s regional product pages for up-to-date purchase information rather than relying on an old release listing.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
