Choose the original Powerbeats Pro if their ear-hook design better suits how you want earbuds to stay in place and Lightning fits your charging routine. The available official information supports a clear comparison of those features, but not a tested overall winner: it does not establish a like-for-like battery, comfort, or sound comparison.
Beats Studio Buds vs. Powerbeats Pro: what is different?
These are different designs, not interchangeable versions of the same earbud. The original Studio Buds have a compact, stemless design; Powerbeats Pro use ear hooks. Which feels more secure depends on your ears and activity, so the design is a useful starting point rather than proof that one will fit you better.
| What to compare | Original Beats Studio Buds | Original Powerbeats Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Design and fit | Compact, stemless earbuds. Fit is individual. | Ear-hook design; whether it suits your fit and activity is individual. |
| Noise modes | Beats documents active noise cancellation (ANC) and transparency mode. | The cited original-model documentation does not establish ANC or transparency mode. |
| Battery evidence | Beats claims up to 8 hours per charge with ANC off or up to 5 hours with ANC on; case-inclusive totals are up to 24 or 15 hours, respectively. | A comparable original-model battery figure is not established by the cited sources. |
| Case charging | USB-C. | Lightning cable, according to the safety and handling document. |
| Sweat and water resistance | Earbuds rated IPX4 for sweat and water resistance during non-water sports and exercise; case is not water resistant. | Earbuds rated IPX4 for sweat and water resistance during non-water sports and exercise; case is not water resistant. |
Do Powerbeats Pro have noise cancelling?
For the original Powerbeats Pro, the official materials cited here do not document active noise cancellation or a transparency mode. That is different from the Studio Buds, for which Beats explicitly lists both listening modes. Do not confuse the original Powerbeats Pro with Powerbeats Pro 2; this comparison is about the original model.
Beats says the Studio Buds have two microphones dedicated to ANC and one for voice pickup in each earbud. Their ANC and transparency modes are the documented choice if you want those specific listening options. The cited sources do not provide a same-method sound-quality comparison, so they cannot establish which pair sounds better.

Are Beats Studio Buds good for working out?
Apple lists both the original Studio Buds and original Powerbeats Pro as IPX4 rated under IEC 60529 for sweat and water resistance during non-water sports and exercise. The rating applies to the earbuds, not their charging cases. Neither model is waterproof or designed for swimming or showering.
For workouts, consider which design you expect to stay comfortable and secure: the Studio Buds’ stemless shape or the Powerbeats Pro’s ear hooks. Fit is personal, and the rating does not establish that either design will suit every workout or wearer. Apple also notes that resistance can diminish with normal wear; dry the earbuds before returning them to the case after exposure.

How long does the Beats Studio Buds battery last?
Beats’ support page gives manufacturer estimates of up to 8 hours of listening per charge with ANC off, or up to 5 hours with ANC on. Beats says the case stores two additional charges, for totals of up to 24 hours with ANC off or up to 15 hours with ANC on. These are not independent test results; actual playback varies with use and settings.
The figures are specific to the Studio Buds and should not be treated as proof of longer battery life than Powerbeats Pro. The cited material does not establish a comparable original-Powerbeats-Pro battery estimate under the same conditions.

Which charging case fits your routine?
The Studio Buds case charges over USB-C. Beats says a USB-C power adapter is sold separately. The Powerbeats Pro safety and handling document describes charging the case with a Lightning cable. If you already have one connector in your everyday charging setup, that may make the choice simpler; the connector information does not establish charging speed or adapter inclusion for Powerbeats Pro.

- Pick the original Studio Buds if ANC and transparency are priorities, you prefer a stemless design, or you want the documented USB-C case connection and manufacturer battery estimates.
- Consider the original Powerbeats Pro if you prefer an ear-hook design for your activities and Lightning charging suits your setup. Check fit for yourself rather than assuming the hooks guarantee comfort or stability.
- Compare carefully before deciding if battery life, sound, or comfort is your deciding factor: the available official information does not provide a complete, same-generation, same-method comparison for those points.
