No—not at the same time. Google’s Wear OS guidance allows one phone connection per watch. You can move a watch to another phone, but the supported process normally requires disconnecting and factory-resetting it, then setting it up again. That makes occasional transfers possible, not convenient two-phone use.
Why Bluetooth pairing does not make this a two-phone watch
A phone might still show the watch in its Bluetooth settings, or retain an old pairing record, but that is not the same as an active Wear OS setup. The companion app manages the watch’s broader connection: account setup, app synchronization, permissions, notifications, and configuration. Pairing from Bluetooth settings alone does not create supported dual-phone operation.
Google says a watch can connect to only one phone at a time and requires a factory reset to switch phones. Turning Bluetooth off on the first phone may stop it competing for a connection, but it does not remove the existing watch setup. Nor does keeping both phones nearby make the watch a supported notification hub for both.

How to move the watch to another phone
Before you reset
- While the watch is still connected to the current phone, sync it and check that important information has uploaded to the relevant Google, Samsung, Fitbit, or other manufacturer account.
- Confirm that the replacement phone supports your exact watch model and identify the companion app specified by its manufacturer.
- Make sure you can sign in to the accounts you will need during setup, including any required two-factor authentication. If the watch uses LTE, check whether its plan or eSIM needs to be activated again.
- Note custom watch-face settings and other configurations you may need to recreate. Backup and restore behavior varies by model, software generation, app, account, and data type.
Reset and pair
- On the watch, open Settings → System → Disconnect and reset. Some models use a label such as Unpair with phone; menu names and locations vary by manufacturer and software version.
- Confirm the reset and wait for the watch to restart. Google says a factory reset erases apps, settings, and data stored on the watch.
- On the replacement phone, install the companion app for your model, enable Bluetooth, and start setup in that app. Do not try to complete smartwatch setup solely through the phone’s Bluetooth menu.
- Select the watch when it appears. If the phone and watch display pairing codes, confirm that they match before approving the pairing.
- Finish account sign-in, permissions, updates, notification and health settings, and any wallet or LTE setup offered for your model.
Google’s Android setup instructions describe the reset and pairing flow. Afterward, returning the watch to the first phone means repeating the reset-and-setup process.
What the reset can mean for your data
A reset clears the watch’s installed apps, settings, and on-device data. Anything that had not synced before the reset may be lost. Some account-synced information may return after setup, but that is not a guarantee that every activity record, app state, watch-face choice, or local setting will be restored.
Wallet cards, transit passes, security credentials, and LTE configuration may require fresh authorization or setup. Their behavior depends on the watch, service, account, and carrier; do not assume they will transfer automatically. Google’s setup guidance confirms that apps, settings, and watch data are erased by a reset.

If the old phone is lost, broken, or unavailable
You can generally start the reset from the watch itself, so access to the old phone is not always necessary:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Wake the watch and open Settings.
- Go to System and choose Disconnect and reset or the model’s equivalent, such as Unpair with phone.
- Confirm the reset, wait for the watch to restart, and begin setup in the correct companion app on the replacement phone.
This route still erases watch data, including anything that had not synced. For a supported watch being set up with an iPhone, Google’s iPhone setup guidance also advises forgetting the watch in the phone’s Bluetooth settings when reconnecting. Android recovery details can differ by manufacturer.
Use the companion app for your specific watch
There is no single companion app that applies to every Wear OS watch. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the exact model. In particular, Google says Wear OS 3 watches are not compatible with the generic Wear OS app, and Samsung Galaxy Watch models running Wear OS use the Galaxy Wearable ecosystem.

Google documents a separate arrangement in which one Android phone can be paired with multiple watches. That is the reverse of the setup asked about here: it does not let one watch serve multiple phones. Google’s guidance says this multiple-watch arrangement is not available with an iPhone.

Samsung says one Galaxy Watch cannot be connected to multiple phones and must be reset to connect it to a different phone. Galaxy Wearable’s ability to manage multiple wearable devices—and its Auto switch feature—concerns switching between watches, not connecting one watch to several phones.

Keep one phone as the watch’s primary phone
This avoids repeated resets. The other phone can still handle its own calls, messages, apps, and supported Bluetooth functions, but that does not make its notifications and watch-management features part of the watch’s official connection.
Forward the alerts you need
If the watch stays paired to your personal phone, use phone-level notification forwarding or account-level alerts where available to surface selected work information there. Wear OS does not merge notification streams from two simultaneously connected phones.

Consider LTE for phone-independent use
An LTE model may support calls, messages, streaming, or data away from the paired phone, depending on carrier support, plan activation, account setup, and app support. LTE can reduce reliance on carrying the phone; it does not enable pairing one watch with two phones.
Use a second watch if both phones must stay in separate ecosystems
Google supports adding multiple watches to one Android phone, but that is not a solution for one watch connecting to two phones. For two active phone-and-watch setups, separate watches avoid repeatedly resetting and transferring a single watch.
Troubleshoot setup on the replacement phone
The watch does not appear in the companion app
- Confirm that the watch has been reset and is showing its setup screen; an existing connection to the old phone can prevent a fresh setup.
- Check that Bluetooth is enabled and that you installed the manufacturer’s correct companion app for this model and software generation.
- Restart the phone and watch. If a stale watch entry appears in the new phone’s Bluetooth settings, remove it, then try setup again from the companion app.
- If the watch still reports an existing phone connection, reset it again and retry the app-based setup.
The pairing codes do not match
Do not approve the pairing. Restart the watch and try again; Google recommends restarting and retrying when setup codes differ. See the Google Android setup steps.
You deleted the companion app but the watch remains connected
Removing the app does not necessarily clear the watch’s pairing state. Use the watch’s disconnect/reset option if needed, remove any stale Bluetooth record from the phone, and restart setup in the correct companion app.
Does your watch work with an iPhone?
Compatibility depends on the watch generation and manufacturer, so check the exact model before resetting it. Google documents an iPhone setup flow for supported watches, but says Wear OS 3 watches are not compatible with the generic Wear OS app. Samsung says Galaxy Watches running Wear OS do not work with iPhones. An iPhone may also have different multi-watch support from Android, so do not assume Android instructions apply.
