1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesAs of August 16, 2026, Google has not publicly documented a new August Pixel Watch firmware release. The latest clearly documented major release is June’s Wear OS 7 rollout for Pixel Watch 2, 3 and 4. That does not prove Google will release nothing for the rest of August, and a missing update does not by itself mean your watch is broken.
Support status depends on the model: the original Pixel Watch is beyond Google’s published guaranteed-update period, while Pixel Watch 2, 3 and 4 remain within theirs. Here’s how to check your watch without resetting it or mistaking an app update for new firmware.
What is the latest Pixel Watch firmware?
Google announced the Wear OS 7 Pixel Watch rollout on June 16, 2026. Its June release notice listed Pixel Watch 2, Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Watch 4, with global builds CP2A.260603.001 for LTE and CP2A.260603.001.S1 for Bluetooth/Wi-Fi. Google said deployment would happen in phases over the coming weeks, depending on device and carrier. Google’s June Pixel Watch update notice and its Wear OS 7 announcement describe the release.
Among the listed changes were improvements to Raise to Talk with Gemini, Remote Media Routing to help manage media output associated with a paired Android phone, and changes to Wear Contacts layout and search. The update also integrated loss-of-pulse, car-crash and fall-detection alerts with Emergency Sharing, subject to device, country, language and feature limitations.

- Enhance your run routine with Fitbit Premium; Google AI uses your goals, past runs, and readiness to power personalized run recommendations[3]
- Know what your body is ready for each day with readiness; it uses sleep, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability to show if you’re ready to take on a workout or prioritize recovery[3]
- Cardio load measures how hard your heart works so you can see how hard you’ve pushed; compare trends to see if you’re under- or over-training[3]
No clearly documented August 2026 Pixel Watch firmware release was found as of August 16. The July Wear OS security bulletin listed no Wear OS security patches for that month, another reminder that watches do not necessarily receive a feature-bearing firmware package every month. Read the July 2026 Wear OS bulletin. Google could still publish or begin another release later in August; the date matters.
Is your Pixel Watch still within Google’s guaranteed support period?
Google’s published dates are minimum guaranteed-update periods, not a promise of one firmware release each month. The schedule below is based on each device’s first availability in the Google Store in the US. Google’s update policy table provides the dates.
| Model | First available in Google Store (US) | Guaranteed updates until at least | What that means in August 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pixel Watch | October 2022 | October 2025 | Outside the published guaranteed-update period; do not expect an August update on the basis of the current policy. |
| Pixel Watch 2 | October 2023 | October 2026 | Still within its guaranteed period, but a monthly firmware update is not promised. |
| Pixel Watch 3 | October 2024 | October 2027 | Within its guaranteed period and listed for the June Wear OS 7 release. |
| Pixel Watch 4 | October 2025 | October 2028 | Within its guaranteed period and listed for the June Wear OS 7 release. |
The original Pixel Watch’s support period ended in October 2025. That does not mean the watch must stop working or that every app update ends, but Google’s published schedule no longer guarantees it operating-system updates. The June 2026 release notice did not list the first-generation model.

Why might your watch not show an update?
- There may be no August firmware package to install. A Pixel phone’s August update does not imply a matching watch release. Phone software, Wear OS firmware, Google Play services, Play Store content, Fitbit, and individual watch apps can update on different schedules.
- The rollout may be staged. Google has described Pixel Watch releases as phased. A March 2026 notice, for example, said Bluetooth/Wi-Fi deployment would begin first, with LTE availability following depending on carrier and device. That makes a different arrival time possible; it does not establish why any one watch is waiting. See Google’s March rollout notice.
- Your model may not be eligible for that release. Google’s June Wear OS 7 notice named Watch 2, 3 and 4, not the original Pixel Watch.
- You may be seeing an app or service update instead. Fitbit, Wallet, Google Play services and other watch apps can change without a new Wear OS build. A phone notification about an app is not proof that the watch firmware changed.
- Your watch may need a basic connectivity check. A weak connection or an interrupted installation can prevent the update check or download from completing.
A newer build reported by another owner is not proof that it is available to every model or region. The report could involve a different generation, LTE versus Bluetooth/Wi-Fi, a test build, an app update or a staged release.

How to check for an update safely
Check from the watch first; a phone notification is not the only way to see whether firmware is available. Google recommends keeping the watch, Pixel Watch app and phone software up to date, and having sufficient charge before updating. Google’s setup and update guidance covers prerequisites.
- Put the watch on its charger and make sure it has a strong Wi-Fi connection or a reliable Bluetooth connection to its paired phone.
- On the watch, open Settings > System > System updates.
- If an update is offered, follow the on-screen prompts and keep the watch connected and charging while it installs.
- Note the software version and build shown in the watch’s system information. Compare the build only with an official notice that applies to your model and connection type.
- On the phone, open the Google Pixel Watch app and look in the watch’s system or device settings for its software-update option. Labels can differ by Wear OS generation and app version, so use the watch’s System updates screen as the primary check.
If nothing is offered, confirm your model and whether it is LTE or Bluetooth/Wi-Fi, restart the watch normally, update the Pixel Watch app from Google Play, and check relevant Google Play services and watch apps. If an official rollout for your exact model has just begun, leave the watch connected and check again over the following days rather than repeatedly forcing the check.

What not to do when an update is missing
- Do not factory-reset as a first step. A reset can erase local watch data and settings, require re-pairing and reconfiguration, and cannot make Google offer a firmware package that is unavailable or ineligible.
- Do not sideload an image just because another owner has a newer build. Google publishes Pixel Watch OTA images, but that is an advanced route, not a routine consumer fix. A wrong image can cause a more serious problem. Use an image only when Google’s official instructions apply to your exact model and situation. Google’s Pixel Watch OTA page lists its images.
- Do not assume an August phone patch requires an August watch patch. The update programs and release schedules are separate.
When should you contact Google support?
Use Google’s troubleshooting guidance if an installation repeatedly fails, the watch freezes or reboots, an error persists, or the watch cannot check for updates after you have checked power, connection and app status. For LTE activation or provisioning problems, your carrier may also need to help. Google’s Pixel Watch troubleshooting page covers connection, restart and reset steps; reset procedures can erase data, so follow them only when appropriate.
If a supported model remains far behind after Google says its applicable rollout is complete, contact support with the watch model, LTE or Bluetooth/Wi-Fi status, current build and any error message. Google’s support page is support.google.com/googlepixelwatch.
